You witnessed some of angelic voices taking to eden sir wherever you are sir stay happy , As so am i a teen listening to this i just feel hope crossing my darkest times lucky enough i discovered this song
Saw them live this year, 2024, 30 years after this video ❤ I wasn’t even born yet when this video was taken! They’re phenomenal live and I’m so glad I had the chance to see them
dreary, rainy climates produce these kinds of melancholic, ruminative bands like the seattle scene and england's cloudy sky. genetics may be a strong determinant but natural and artificial environments aren't far behind. the earth's atmosphere is able to create shoegaze atmosphere
Slowdive were always one of the best bands of the 90s, saw them 6 or 7 times, though they were unfairly maligned by the UK press (I'm Irish, so, you know, f*%& them). So happy they are getting their due nowadays. This song is amazeballs, and I utterly approve.
Thank you so much for sharing this on RUclips! I never got to see Slowdive live (even though I was seeing shows back then) and this is just a really huge treat! Makes me realize how they never received the acclaim that they deserve(d). Such a brilliant band. They're right up there with MbV, Swervedriver, Ride, Boo Radleys and all the other greats!
yeah a lot of bands in the alternative/indie circuit are still playing it. Like A Place to Bury Strangers, Deerhunter, Blonde Redhead and even silversun pickups hints shoegazing. A lot of bands are actually combining shoegaze with other ambient genres like psychedelic/space, dream pop, post rock. I even saw a folk band with lots of reverb apply shoegazing to their music. Nowadays it's all experimental rather than solid genres.
I listen, and carries away in 90, at that time when we were all young people, and created that they wanted, it is my youth. I love that time and all who is not present with us any more, and those who lives now.
Can somebody please tell me how they make those noises? I don't even know what to call it, it's there in the back of the song throughout the whole track. Is it an instrument or something like that?
If you mean the continuous "dreamy" sound in the background, it's the solo guitar, heavily modified by an array of effects from pedals (mainly "chorus","delay" kind of effects), coupled with a fast alternate picking with the right hand. Watch, for instance, the last half of "Exit Music", from Radiohead, pay attention to Ed O'Brien live, he uses the same technique. You're welcome.
@Redrum267 They have been having stadium concerts for decades. It's hardly a new thing. If Slowdive were still together, they would probably still play in a similar venue.
This drummer lacked the nuances that Simon Scott provided. No detail at all, just pounding away with no thought. Still an epic performance from the rest of Slowdive
I was at that show. I was standing pretty close to the stage crushing on Rachel big time. This brings back so many memories. Thanks a lot for posting.
I was born the year after this I'm now crushing on Rachel haha
Oh eras tú!

technology is beautiful, so awesome to have the video of this forever
kinda late response but YES! loved it, It's not a "Loveless" but it's still really good.

holy crap, look at how close the stage at Lee's is to the ground. It's now something like four feet above the pit.
Thank you

Warren Santiago Not to poop on this other response, but it is a guitar with a "reverb" pedal more specifically.
it is a japanese multi fx processor from the late 80's i have 2 of them. yamaha fx500 soft focus patch.
It's a boss OD-2 into a Boss PS-2 pitch shifter +1 octave into multiple delays and reverb
Dammit ..... now I have to watch "In Rainbows" (in the basement) lol I know "Exit Music" isn't on there but the feels came rushing back.
hopefully there is shoegaze comeback..... maybe after 2012 when everyone wakes up lol.
@godsNgenerals thats good to read. And its beautiful seeing shoegaze grow more again. Its been 8 years and I'm still listening to Slowdive.
Shoegaze is having its come back now! 11 years later :)
@@peachisoro thats crazy! Seeing it happened!
@jackjude in the early 90's in the UK when it emerged. its only been underground since then.
@derived12 there is, its called wild nothing, toro y moi, small black, etc
@AmazingShoegazing For sure!! ride, Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine. Those were the days!

So did you enjoy mbv?
@Redrum267 Indeed
It was raised circa 2003 or 2004.
