I’m also a Madeira wine lover and fortunately I live in Portugal, so I have an easy access to it, aswell with Port. Madeira influenced whiskies never failed until now, it’s something special. My first Madeira whisky was Benriach 15 wich I loved. No longer exists but I still got a replacement. Amrut Madeira Special Edition is another one I recommend. Kilchoman has two Madeira styled whiskies, one is finished and the other fully matured and I have a bottle of this one still to open. Also have an Edradour also fully matured, also still to open. Last Christmas I nailed a Tobermory 17 Madeira finished for 4 years. Heard lots of good things about this one. I also love Glencadam. The 10 and 15 are beautiful single malts and Glendronach 15 was the first whisky that made say “wow”. Also have a replacement. About Madeira wine itself my favorite style is medium dry.

Incidentally. Brandy butter is a classic accompaniment to Christmas Pudding (dense rich fruit cake). It’s butter, sugar, brandy and sometimes vanilla beaten together. May sound odd but if you’ve ever made a cake and swiped a bit of the mixed sugar and butter before adding your eggs/flour, it’s like that, it’s good. Brandy butter is that but with a boozey kick.

The 14 yo Glenallachie madeira single cask is probably my current favourite.

Belle Meade was the best Madeira cask finished whiskey (bourbon) I've ever had.
Glencadam 13 year old Reawakening is my favorite (still have a couple bottles tucked away).
Although not PX matured or finished, Glen Scotia 15 will give any other 15 year old a serious run for its money.

Glen Scotia 15 went up in 2023 over 35% in price here in Germany :-(

The regular 15 is quite lovely -- it seems to be a bit underrated in my opinion.

Madeira MUST be soooo expensive then on this lovely Portugal Island....or the Casks have been rented from Diablo Diageo i guess 😅😎🥂🙋🏻‍♂️ p.s. it was a pleasure watch your review as always anyway. Slàinte 🥂🙋🏻‍♂️ p.s.2( after final whistle) i love GC10 as well. i like Madeira wine so much but whisky finished Madeira meh. Best example from my expierence are: Bushmills 16(old one) finished or matured(dont remember 😅) in Porto wine Lovely stuff almost grear even at 40%abv and Bushmills 21(2018) finiahed i guess in Madeira wine was so so( still got couple dram in a bottle). Its not the Rule but i stand to drink Madeira and whisky separately. Cheers 🥂🙋🏻‍♂️

Maybe you must try some more Madeira whiskies. I don’t know if Bushmills is the best example, since they mix several casks. I heard great things about Glenallachie 13 Madeira finish, for example. But I also love Madeira wine. My favorite style is the medium dry.

I have an unopened GlenAllachie 13 Madeira finish to try, and very much enjoyed Ardnamurchan Madeira cask (finish).
In my market (NZ) GlenDronach (e.g. 15) has increased in price a lot. GlenAllachie (e.g. 15) is currently cheaper despite increasing somewhat but I would not be at all surprised if it increases further still. Note that whereas the UK market (cf Roy @Aqvavite and Andre @Whisky_Tales) is displaying both inflated prices and increased discounting/sales and some slowed/reduced secondary market, NZ stocks & prices are somewhat delayed/behind (shipping irregulaities are a partial but not entire reason), and as a far smaller market with a very small secondary market which is way overpriced, therefore unlikely to see much future discounting. NZ doesn't have the high/punitive taxes of Australia so single malt prices are closer to UK/European prices, but often a bit more and sometimes a lot more (extortionate/ramp/intermediary greed, etc.). I bought a Glencadam 15 (ordinary) in 2023 (probably last of old stocks) for 67.54 euros equivalent, which was cheaper/more reasonable than most/many other 15s in my market, but it's today priced between 75.82 and 90.42. Glendronach 15 two years ago was ~75 euros here, today ranging ~89-95 euros.
Note particularly Andre's comment about expecting to see more "shouty" bottlings (I'm paraphrasing) with various colourful finishes, etc. all trying to stand out/differentiate on overcrowded shelves. Dramface recently reviewed one of Glancadam's nas "colourful" finishes at a pretty reasonable price, and here you have the much pricier age-stated versions (15 & 17).
    ----
Seeing as I'm talking prices: in the UK James Eadie bottlings are regarded as fairly good value as well as quality, so I was pleased to see their first appearance in my market just a week or so ago. Unfortunately the prices here seem out of whack. I did a comparison of just one bottling (Linkwood 10, one of the cheapest) and found it ranging from 33-45% more than current UK prices, which is not usual for other (non James Eadie) malts and perhaps implies importer greed. Either importer greed or importer idiocy--e.g. buying from "intermediaries" and thereby themselves getting ramped.
Sorry if it sounds like I'm moaning about prices. My intent is more simply about observing seeming anomalies/irregularities. To see Diageo extortionate pricing is ~normale, but to see similar (albeit scaled) on James Eadie when that label is otherwise known for fair value is very disappointing/irksome.

I would guess importer greed :-(
