I didn't think I would ever hear a rendition of this beautiful song that matched Dame Andrews. But Ashley Brown knocked this one out of the ballpark. Bravo, young lady!
Beautiful rendition and interpretation - captures the haunting lilt stunningly, and ‘tells the story’. Probably the most underrated song in musical theatre- hard to beat - goosebumps stuff.
Ashley Brown sings in a lovely voice with much feeling and intonation. I dare say Ms. Brown's singing of "Feed the Birds" is as lovely as Dame Julie Andrews' original song, and that is about the highest compliment one can give. Bravo!!
This was Walts favorite song. There is a video here on RUclips of one of the Sherman brothers talking about Walt coming into the office on Fridays just to hear the song. They play the song in the Disney short once Upon a studio get ready for an emotional ride there.

Gorgeous! 😍 I'm going to sing this song to audition for my school musical. Can't wait! 😄 Ever since I was a little girl, I loved Mary Poppins and were enchanted by the songs
He was not a pedophile he was a child at heart he had children of his own, he liked the idea of forgetting your worries and acting like a child without a care in the world.
To those saying Walt was not a pedophile are right. To those he signed personally I.e. Annette Funicello and Hayley Mills he created a warm loving environment and acted as a second father to them by up holding a good moral standard for them to live by after they left Disney since both ladies built themselves solid reps and he didn't want anything to tarnish them since he knew how talented and beautiful they were.
+vermilion He was not, unless you have valid proof, your arguments are invalid. Now stop trolling and go. If you don't heed my words I will report you.
Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul's The little old bird woman comes. In her own special way to the people she calls, "Come, buy my bags full of crumbs." "Come feed the little birds, show them you care; And you'll be glad if you do. Their young ones are hungry. Their nests are so bare. All it takes is tuppence from you. "Feed the birds, tuppence a bag -- Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag." "Feed the birds," that's what she cries; While overhead her birds fill the skies. All around the cathedral the saints and apostles Look down as she sells her wares. Although you can't see it, you know they are smiling Each time someone shows that he cares. Though her words are simple and few; Listen, listen, she's calling to you. "Feed the birds, tuppence a bag -- Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag."
Very nice. My only nit is that this rendition somewhat loses a bit of the lullaby aspect. There's a bit simplicity of the simplicity of Julie's rendition that is lost. But still, very nice.
Beautiful, oh by the way, tuppence not tippence is by the way and nothing to do with the structure,as I noticed the local grammar police were defining. Xx
There should be no real vowel sound there at all, it is tupp'nce if you want to sound authentic. The singer was exaggerating the accent as well - more like Emily Blunt and less like Julie Andrews' accent.
@@chrisnorton4382 There *should* be huh? Did Richard Sherman tell you that? Or Dame Julie? Or are you just sharing how You would do it? ......point being, saying this singer Should do it your preferred way is.......not necessary
Stop comparing singers! They have their own way of singing and please just stop judging other people. Can't you just enjoy the the music as it's intended to be?
One of the most haunting melodies ever, a tune you can't forget.

At that second "listen" ... I melt, every single time. Simply beautiful.
I get chills every time I hear this song
Beautiful voice. Beautifully sung.
Wow... Such control.
I love this unplugged performance. Voice, piano, violin. Perfect. The piano arrangement is exquisite.
OMG! What a beautiful voice! I rarely like covers as much as the original version, but this... Is STUNNING ❤️💜
Ashley was actually the original Mary Poppins on Broadway in 2006!
I don't get why people have to compare this singing to Julie Andrews. Ashley sang it beautifully .
Speechless.
I've got chills!
This was so beautiful, I’m crying rn 😭

the incomparable Ashley Brown
I watched her sing this for the 60th anniversary at Disneyland with Richard Sherman playing the piano! It was like poetry with music! :D

Brings back wonderful memories of when this was performed at Disney's Legacy Celebration in 2017. Thank you Ashley 😊
Amazing voice
What a lovely voice, bravo.
STUNNING
I love this so much.

Omg this is beautiful. Thank you for sharing x
wonderful singing.
Love it! Bravo!
Beautiful!
Walt's favorite song :')
***** Prove it. With valid evidence.
He was not a pedophile he was a child at heart he had children of his own, he liked the idea of forgetting your worries and acting like a child without a care in the world.
***** Crawl back into your hole plz :)

Thank you for this.
(And I *Really* love the ever-cheesy minor 3rd modulation!!! 🥰)
😎😎😎
Great cover, very beautiful voice.
wow wow wow !!

IM FLOORED AND GAGGING
Love you. I listen to this song so much. You are amazing :)
BELLA VOZ......EXCELENTE.
Happy Birthday, Richard! Even though Bob is no longer with us, I want to say this to the both of you: Keep up the good work, boys!
I'd let her adopt me only for her to sing me this song before going to sleep lmao
one of my favourite songs of all time! Beautiful :)
That transpose was wonderful
Bravo!!
wonderful job !!!
I love this song. :) :) :) :)
the first german language production is currently runnig in Vienna/Austria! And the show is great!!!
Travor's favorite song
Does anyone know where I can find the sheet music for this arrangement? I am singing this song in my recital this spring, and this would be perfect!
Why is this show not running anymore?!
I'm talking about why its not running on Broadway anymore. As much as I care about the West End I don't
Disney only has access to a limited number of theaters on Broadway. They took out Mary Poppins to make room for Aladdin.
Wicked was/is in the gershwin at the time of the closing
Is anyone else thinking she could have pulled off Mary Poppins in the new film? Not that Emily Blunt did bad....but this VOICE!!
Walt would be so pleased...
why does this performance have dislikes ??? fools
Rest in peace Richard Sherman.

did anyone of you noticed that ashley brown look likes mamrie hart just asking

Beed the firds
the german original Version is much better
......shhhhh!
I don't now why, but this song is depressing... ;-;
I know I cry every time I hear it.
My face is wet for some reason
Too much.
Good, but still not as good as Julie Andrews. The word is pence as in 'pen' not as in 'pin'. Americans seldom get the pronunciation right.

Noone asked for *your* opinion on elocution, or vowel choice, or placement.
Don't like it? Ask for your money back

Not even remotely close to the incomparable Julie Andrews!!! Julie Andrews sang it first...and sang it best!!!!
very different singers. You can't compare either. Both are great!
