I think it was someone who saw the first guy selling the furs and followed him... I think he had a wad of cash and that was too much temptation for whoever...
Why was/is there no follow-up to investigate that Alan Wilcoxen dude - the guy en route to Elk Lake who "stopped in" at the Lava Lake cabin? Who was he? Was he a rugged outdoorsman as well? He must have been if he made his trek on foot via snowshoe in dead winter. How did he know the trappers (if he did)? Why did he stop at the cabin - was he making a deliberate visit of people he knew, or was he just a stranger passing through, seeking some hospitality from the cold on his journey? He was the last to see the men alive, so wouldn't he be suspect #1? Doesn't the timeline fit his visit with the time elapsed before people noticed no communications from the trappers? Did anyone go to check on Wilcoxen at his Elk Lake cabin for any evidence? What am I missing here?
I figured there would be some ridiculous comments. This was 1924 and trapping, hunting was still very popular. It doesn’t mean any of these men deserved what happened to them. Just the way life was for many people.
And I figured there would be some pompous, callous NRA asshole trying to defend the indefensible. Perhaps you’d like to explain to us silly, conscience-guided proles why-according to your derailed train of thought-racism, pedophilia, sexual assault, and shooting everything that moves in any given public place are perfectly acceptable. After all, these are pretty “popular” acts today.
@@suesmith3488 you should join the Olympics long jump competitions with that leap of logic. 1.) Trapping was useful for many things: food, fur, money to put food on the table, etc. It's not like these people were just setting traps for shiggles, they were doing it to survive. Just like their forefathers before them. 2.) Everything you mentioned is, in some way shape or form, unacceptable in 1st world countries. Rape is illegal. Sexual assault is illegal. Shooting people randomly is illegal. 3.) The things you listed are being done with some semblance of malicious intent, and aren't core to someone surviving. So you're comparing apples to oranges by trying to condemn survival measures with malevolent acts. 4.) This one is more out of curiosity, but how exactly do you know this person is a member of the NRA? Do you always assume everyone you disagree with or has different views than you to be a part of some group you personally dislike? Because i can tell you I'm not a member of the NRA but i hold similar views as the person your commenting against for the various reasons ordained prior. In short: grow up and pull the wool from your eyes and ears. Acts done for survival shouldn't be viewed with the same moral lenses as our modern society, which has effectively removed any need for these survival tactics.
All things known about the person >Was armed >Wasn't alone >Used a great deal of violence when killing these men >Killed the foxes, most likely for the fur What I imagine happened was probably that the men were seeked and killed by a pair of a group of men who had an issue or a quarrel with any of them, about the pelts, found them in the middle of breakfast, grabbing them, then beating them with the hammer, and finishing the job with a revolver, a coup-de-grâce, of you want to be fancy. Then, they probably heard thr foxes, which may have been making a ruckus hearing the struggle inside, then they killed the foxes and skinned them. Once they harvested the pelts, they got rid of the bodies in the lake, and set off
Wow, this was fascinating. I'm originally from Oregon and know of another unsolved ? murder mystery. I'm wondering if anyone else has heard about the Cowden family murders. They lived in Eagle Point, Oregon, back in the 1960's.
I'm a bit confused about the time line discussed here. At 3:25 you mention that Alan Wilcoxen supposedly stops at the cabin on the 15th of January, but the autopsy report (at 9:43) states that the men died in late December/early January. If the police at the time would pay a bit more attention to this, they might see that this Mr Wilcoxen is slightly suspicious or that the autopsy report should be checked, right? As for the rest, I really like these unsolved mysteries videos, well done :)!
I really like how you bring attention to these older cases, it’s sad that a lot of these older ones will go unsolved…Atleast now there’s no way in hell you’re going to get away with murder no matter how hard you plan and try to clean it up, forensics will find you every time and forensics cannot lie.

Hi!!!!! Merry Christmas!
It's now june the 3rd, 2020!
Nice! This is in my back yard. But it's the first time I've heard of it so, thank you!
@@suesmith3488 Wow I've never seen someone so stupid until today. You deserve to get your internet privileges stripped from you ya goober.
Thank you! I've never heard this story before. Great video!
All things known about the person
>Was armed
>Wasn't alone
>Used a great deal of violence when killing these men
>Killed the foxes, most likely for the fur
What I imagine happened was probably that the men were seeked and killed by a pair of a group of men who had an issue or a quarrel with any of them, about the pelts, found them in the middle of breakfast, grabbing them, then beating them with the hammer, and finishing the job with a revolver, a coup-de-grâce, of you want to be fancy. Then, they probably heard thr foxes, which may have been making a ruckus hearing the struggle inside, then they killed the foxes and skinned them. Once they harvested the pelts, they got rid of the bodies in the lake, and set off

Thank you, always well done videos. Best to you in 2020🎉👏
Very well presented, thank you. This is a horrible murder of three innocent men. Their poor families...
RUclips recommended did something good for once! This is what I've been wanting for a while but haven't been able to find! Thank ya miss!
Wow, this was fascinating. I'm originally from Oregon and know of another unsolved ? murder mystery. I'm wondering if anyone else has heard about the Cowden family murders. They lived in Eagle Point, Oregon, back in the 1960's.
Fantastic video as always. Happy New Year! 😀❤️
I’m from Bend! This is a truly strange mystery!
Me too! Still live here. I love it
Thank you for another excellent video. Happy holidays!❤🎄
Isolated log cabin in the snowy woods looks awesome. ✨
Interesting case. Thank you for covering it.
Anyone else listen for the amazing accent as well as content?
*Oops, I misread the title as the Lava Lamp Murders.*
Silent Bethlehem lava lamp murders 😂😂😂😂
I'm a bit confused about the time line discussed here. At 3:25 you mention that Alan Wilcoxen supposedly stops at the cabin on the 15th of January, but the autopsy report (at 9:43) states that the men died in late December/early January. If the police at the time would pay a bit more attention to this, they might see that this Mr Wilcoxen is slightly suspicious or that the autopsy report should be checked, right? As for the rest, I really like these unsolved mysteries videos, well done :)!
Great show , great to listen to when you're not in the mood to watch anything , 👍👍👌
Well done. Thank you.
"Nice beaver!"
Thanks, I just trapped it.
NOOOOO! Her reply was, "Thanks, I just had it stuffed!" 🤣
Thank-you for the upload 😁
I really like how you bring attention to these older cases, it’s sad that a lot of these older ones will go unsolved…Atleast now there’s no way in hell you’re going to get away with murder no matter how hard you plan and try to clean it up, forensics will find you every time and forensics cannot lie.
I just love love love your videos, your voice is excellent, the intro is always looked forward to
I enjoy your clips of news...

This part of the country is gorgeous. Back then it would have been even more so. RIP.
Thanks for sharing
Good work
I can't help but wonder if another hunter fatally shot one of them by accident & then killed the other two to prevent them from revealing the hunter's identity.
I’m so happy I found you channel. You cover these stories simply and thoroughly. And I love the Scottish accent!
I can’t believed I missed the deer doing their business in the background, I’ll have to go back and look!🤪
Gee, they should have just wore puffer coats.... Unbelievable. Who knows where Wool comes from kids?
I saw three individual mist things floating over the lake when I was there in 2011. I didnt even know about the murders until now. Im freaking out now.
