  • Giving an update on some issues I have had with my bike this far. Nothing overly major, but more annoying that the problem should have been fixed 2 times ago at the shop.

    Great info. I've had many KTM's over the years since 1997. I seem to get another one every year or two. It sounds like you may very well have some gunk in the tank from manf. I've had that issue on about four of the bikes I've been around. I usually drain the fuel, pull the pump and check the filters. You will know right away if there is crap in there, not hard to miss. Flush it out blow the filters out and reassemble. Should be good to go. While your under the hood check out all the other lines and fittings including the coolant side of things. I don't trust any shop to do it and it gives you the opportunity to get to know the bike and what makes it tick.
    Great video. You did a great job.

      Thanks for that info. Once I get it in for its break in service I do plan on doing most of the service work myself. And I hope it I dont screw it up HAHA. According to the shop there was some gunk in the line and so far so good. Have not had much time to ride lately. But, stay tuned I plan on getting some better video while riding and documenting the adventures.

    I haven't had a bike in a while,where I laugh out loud wheelieing down the road,and laugh as I walk away from the thing. Too much fun. The 890R is absolutely a blast. I put 2K miles on mine in a week and a half no troubles.

    Sorry to hear you are having issues with your bike. I have a 2020 790R with over 18000 trouble free km on it. The only mod is a Camel Skid Plate. There seems to be numerous on line complaints about these bikes. I believe its because those owners that arent having bike issues are out riding and not spending time on line. Maybe Im just lucky. The fuel gages are a non issues. If you fill it before you ride you will get about 450 km. The low fuel warning activates with about 3 litres remaining or just under a gallon. When you get all the issues solved you will love this bike

    Having owned multiple makes and models over the years.

    For me the gas mileage isn't a issue.

    • @woitika5983
      @woitika5983 3 года назад +1

      just keep an eye on the number of kilometers/miles traveled, I have owned several bikes before and the mileage has always been the most important indicator becasue during offroad riding anyway you have to count and look for gas station.

    • @890advrrider8
      @890advrrider8  3 года назад +2

      Oh trust me I do love the bike. I did drop the bike off and my fuel issue was caused by debris stuck in the bottom of the right side of tank. That was preventing it from transferring over to the fuel pump. The only part that irritated me was I dropped it off 3 times before they found the problem. Overall this bike rocks.

    I just bought the identical bike and have 1500 miles on it. So far it has run perfectly. I ended up buying the lower seat (lowers 20 mm or about 3/4 inch). I am 5-11" and had to tippy toe a lot. I heard some tanks were clogged with some gunk left over from manufacture. My 890 Adv R has just hit 620 miles, and the only issue I've had is a bit of temporary condensation in the display housing. KTM were not very helpful with this known issue, and it has been ongoing with their displays for years. We'll see how she holds up to a couple of weeks in the Rockies, next. ;) My KTM off road bikes have been pretty solid, but I'm not convinced their bigger bikes are up to par, QC wise.

      I too have recently hit my 600 plus mile mark. The dealer said not to bring it in until I hit 1k miles because they have seen it 3 times already haha. I have yet to experience the moisture in the display and really hope I can for a long time. You’d think that issue wouldn’t actually be an issue since it’s an outdoor vehicle. Happy riding and enjoy the Rockies!

    I have looked hard at KTMs for years and I never buy one because it always comes down to RELIABILITY! I cannot rank KTM as a superior bike when it always seems to be something with these bikes. Brake rotors coming off, Bogus airboxes that allow engine dusting, not to mention that service centers are few and far between. Come on KTM!!!! I mean WTF???

    • @890advrrider8
      @890advrrider8  2 года назад

      This is very true. My last KTM was a 450 sxf. Amazing bike honestly. But, when I purchased this monster it was almost one problem after the other. Small issues, but issues that should have been caught prior to me taking ownership. I do have the first service coming up and I heard it’s a little on the expensive side. At this current time in our world I feel anything new we buy is gonna have quality issues.

    So, to be absolutely truthful here, you really don't know how your fuel supply works on this machine, it was not faulty at all, just you being faulty, and this is a bike issue?
    Maybe sell the bike bro. and get something you can understand. Maybe a Vespa to fit your riding style or skill, really.
    It is annoying to see people try and offer critique about stuff they have zero understanding of.
