Can a clip-on windscreen solve the buffeting issue on the 2021 KTM 890 Adventure R?

- If you follow some of the KTM forums, you will see some people talking about a buffeting issue on the KTM 890 Adventure R. I bought a cheap clip-on windscreen to see if it would make any difference in where the wind hit my helmet.

I bought and installed the exact same one. I put as low as possible to create a laminar flow. It is fantastic now
I should have added that i still use mine, but i dont believe the difference is that incredible. I still think a taller windshield would be the way to go if you were doing a lot of pavement. The buffeting also doesnt bother me a ton, so this is probably a personal preference kind of thing.
Just fitted the KTM Branded item ... made for them by MRA its extremely well engineered not cheap but it fly off or disassemble itself whilst riding CC
i really didnt get much benefit from the clip-on. See this video ruclips.net/video/5rH8UCQaV78/видео.html, ive been happy with this windscreen that makes a bit of a laminar effect. Its been great offroad too
I have the Touratech one, not as big as yours, and it works flawlessly. When I am off-road, i put it low so it not interfere in my vision, and when I return home on the highway, I put it on the highest position.
I still use this one because i think it makes a little difference. Ill checkout the touratech one.
I had one on the KTM ADV 1090 S and it was as ugly as it was efficient. The windshield of the 790 ADV also performs quite poorly. I don't want to look through the windshield so I changed to the shield of the rally version and I ride in the lowest position with my head slightly bent at speed when I'm over 140 km/h. Up to 120-110 km/h, there is no problem. About 175 cm tall. Upgraded and slightly higher seat than stock.
unfortunately for me this extender is just getting more broken over time. I just picked up a different style windscreen from China. I have a video coming out tomorrow on that one.
I think I have that exact same extender on my 890 Adventure S. I do notice that it helps some with buffeting (I’m 5’9”), but it is so wobbly on the top of the windshield that I really don’t like it. I’m looking at alternatives like the Rade Garage windscreen.
yeah, ive had several parts snap off by now. I am still using it, but ive got zip ties and wire holding it together now. Im looking at the Puig screen, but i havent done anything yet.
I had an almost identical windshield extension on my 1090 ADV. After trying different heights and angles I poured JB WELD into the connections and locked the pins. Came out pretty ugly but held 230 km/h ~ 142 mph. I think that's around 120 mph with the extension:

Yet, I wasn't completely calm. if this piece of plastic is torn off towards your throat, the helmet might help protect the head, but it won't be connected to the rest of the body...
