    Hi, loved the camera work! I felt like I was in a 1st person woodworking game, lol.
    I'm considering the Griz too, and wonder if changing to hook & loop belts would be less work for the machine to feed? (because of the air space/less roller pressure from what I read).

    No chips on a sander!
    Those veins create some turbulence and also keep the dust port from collapsing!

    Excellent review, love the assembly preview. I just bought one, have heard lots of Naysay about the belt tracking and underpowered motor. I plan to use mine for fine finishing of smaller workpieces like end grain cutting boards and butcher blocks, frame edges, small furniture pieces, game boards etc. I do not feel like i will have these issues. But I can see how it would definitely draw a lot of amps if the work piece is too large and/or unsupported. I mean, this is just an overgrown benchtop machine. Maybe it is one of those machines that is screaming for an outfeed/infeed table. :shrug:

      I will say that mine has some tracking issues. But it has cut down on palm sanding!
      Let me know how yours treats you!
      Also a little tip that has helped me out when changing sand paper, is to use a little spray adhesive on the stainless roller just before attaching your replacement sand paper!
      Best of luck

      I just measured the open end sander it measures 37" X 20.5"
      But I made my base an inch larger on each end my base measures 38" x 21.5".
      Let me know how your drum sander works out.
      Also there is a really inexpensive high quality drum sander sandpaper supplier I found, Maverick abrasives.com you can get 36 ft for $29.

      Yeah. To be honest, I am not 100% in love with the sander. It saves me a lot of time on projects. But I can't seem to get the belt to track properly. Grizzly makes a lot of economical options, but I know there are some really great brands out there.

    I have the same exactly but ShopFox, but to be honest i don't like it, the belt always tracking right side,
    I want to ask can we add infeet & out feet?

    • @TheMcKeelsWoodworks
      @TheMcKeelsWoodworks  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for your interest in our channel!
      Shop fox is a good brand, to solve the tracking issue, you may want to find the set screws for tracking. Mine has two, this allows you to make adjustments to the feed table belt and center it on the rails. Then once you're done making adjustments, tighten the feed table set screw.
      Also, you should be able to add in feed and out feed tables. You could build some custom ones or purchase something, grizzly.com has some options.
      Hopefully this helps. Thanks for watching and subscribing

    Does anyone know why I would be pooping a breaker?
    I have 12 guage wire, single plug 20 amp single pull breaker.
    Could it be the sander not having enough power?

    • @tylervoet3208
      @tylervoet3208 3 года назад +1

      I'm no electrician, but a few people have seemed to have solved the problem by reducing any excessive extension cord (or internal wiring) lengths. Saw another person replace the outlet and it solved the problem. I have the same model on its way, curious if you are still having this issue or if you've managed to figure out the problem?

    • @TheMcKeelsWoodworks
      @TheMcKeelsWoodworks  3 года назад

      @@tylervoet3208 Yes, I have fixed the issue.
      I am not using any extension cords, I am plugged directly into the 20amp outlet.
      As far as the breaker tripping, I reduced my sanding depth to 1/32 or 1/16 of a crank with the height adjustment wheel.
      The manufacturer states that you can move in 1/8 wheel turns per pass. But that is if you are only passing a 3-4" board, not if you are passing a 18" wide board through.
      So in have reduced my pass depth significantly, this has made the process of sanding much more time consuming, but it did take the frustration out of tripping the breaker.
      Have you had any issues with yours? Or are you still waiting for it to arrive?

    • @Ramdodge582
      @Ramdodge582 Год назад

      Yup, the machine is drawing too much power and the breaker is doing it's job. Also breakers can trip early if they have have been tripped too many times.

      If the machine is 15amp you should be on a 30 amp fuse

    • @GaryJustice-wl3oy

      I am a licensed electrician and what you have is right. 20 amp breaker needs to have #12 wire. The way you figure the load for the circuit is by taking the load of your sander and multiply that by 125% that comes to 18.75 amps. So your breaker is sized ok. But you don't have much wiggle room after that. I would guess that you have other loads on the same circuit that's pushing you over the top. Try turning off that breaker and see what stops working. What you need for your sander is a dedicated 20 amp circuit with no other loads on it. Hope this helps.

      Yeah. We all have our opinion. It has been a good time saver in our shop, especially with all the large live edge work we have been doing lately.
      But a planer is my number one, though the price is far more expensive.
