But different interpretations-to each their own. Not to say the romance was bad-but people wouldn't be watching this for it (because there isn't much anyway).
@Chizuru loves Ochinchin! Violet apparently fell in love with Gilbert since after the first time she met him when she was 10 but at the time it was more devotion than love since she didn't fully understand what love was. As the anime scenes happened with her being a doll she slowly started to understand what love is until the end of the anime she understood a little what love was and now in the movie she fully understands what loving someone is and has fully understood that she is in love with Gilbert and he does her
I've heard "I love you's" a hundred times in shows and movies, but I feel like no one has ever said it better than Gilbert. It feels so genuine and sincere. 🥲
The fact that the whole story between V&G is pretty messed up at its core, and yet, somehow this managed to be the most beautiful anime romance I've ever seen? That's skill. The show was good but the movie was a masterpiece.
What do you exactly mean by "messed up at it's core" ? I think I kinda understand what you are trying to say but I'd rather here it directly from you instead of making my own assumptions.
@@palekarsahil5724 Maybe because Gilbert loved Violet when Violet was under 18 and just generally have large age gap. But I don't think that matters given that there was nothing sexual from Gilbert towards Violet during the war, just pure kindness. Especially considering how harsh everything was for the both of them.
@@palekarsahil5724 I didn't read the novel either. But just from the anime, albeit short, there was no malice in their relationship during the war. The anime has to capture that even with minimal screen time. Also, I already sensed the age gap would be an issue, it always is, but Gilbert was just caring for Violet primarily out of kindness then eventually of love, and nothing sexual to it. Again, the anime, imo, was able to deliver that even with minimum screen time for Gilbert. Not entirely sure how the novel approached this idea. And the age gap issue is a modern perspective, in the anime's setting (idk what year), it's normal and prolly rarely creepy.
@@pennyinheaven I have heard the anime skipped some details that are in the light novel about this particular concept that you are talking about, regarding Gilbert's feelings for Violet .. My favorite series of all time, not just anime, and I thank Netflix and Kyoto Animation from the bottom of my heart for bringing the anime into my life with that first very first episode. A series is TRULY special when you just need to listen or watch 1 single thing from the series and it makes you cry, the music or just how beautiful it looks, and Violet Evergarden did that for me. And finally thank you so damn much Kana Akatsuki (writer for Violet Evergarden) for bringing this series out from your beautiful mind for the entire WORLD to see and witness. Thank you for everything that you are: A creator, writer and Storyteller with such a beautiful mind, with the phenomenal ability to get us all to witness your art of the "ugly cry" within a story, and to truly know how to tug at the heart with such emotion, and giving us a beautiful story of just LOVE. This story will always have a special place in my heart until the day I die and beyond. ALWAYS AND FOREVER. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Ah...All of the heartfelt "thank you"s in this message of yours ..made me even more thankful for this beautiful anime as well . So thank you to you too hehe.
"A series is TRULY special when you just need to listen or watch 1 single thing from the series and it makes you cry, the music or just how beautiful it looks, and Violet Evergarden did that for me." - exactly, it's the same for me (also I understand the TRUE references :) ). I started to feel literally catharsis (soul cleansing), that specific emptiness, when I finished the story (watched everything including the final movie). Not every medium can do this to me - only true masterpieces can induce those feelings in me. I can't stop thinking about Violet Evergarden anime, it may even be compared to falling in love, when you feel bad if you stop thinking about that important person for some time. That emptiness, because you want more (both in case of this anime and in case of loving someone - you just want to have more time together)...
This anime was so good in terms of every aspect of being top notch pure love & then i have no words to describe their beauty of work , it's difficult to tell you how great it was .. Each time my mind gets emotionally damaged & this is the effect of you "Violet Evergarden".
Y'know.... I can't help but wanna turn into a weeping wreck when I think about Violet and Gilbert. I mean, the girl literally let her arms be ripped off if it meant even one more second with the Major. The man himself was crushed by obligations on *EVER SIDE* of his life as a noble, a soldier, Violet's guardian, his guilt.... The man wasn't allowed to get close to anything. So him admitting he loved her must've been both very cathartic, but *UNBELIEVABLY* painful. All he wanted for the girl was her happiness, no strings attached. And he had no choice but to deny her even that. ...Yeah, the backstory of how Dietfried found her and exactly why she terrifies him was left out of the anime, sadly. Ppl would get too offended by it. The part that spells out just how deeply Gilbert cared fir Violet comes in 2 parts: 1. Violet, by his own admission, was the only person/thing Gilbert truly ever loved... *EVER.* 2. The word for love, [愛] (ai), has very particular nuance that basically boils down to 'a deep love that expects nothing in return'. In regular Japanese parlance, you wouldn't actually hear this particular word for 'love' used very often. It's kinda weighty and doesn't translate very well in English... not without needing a whole fucking page just for that word. Well, I suppose we can 'hear' that depth if it's spoken with the right intentions at just the right time, but that's not... exactly an easy thing to make happen on command. ...Of course, ppl tend to ignore all the nuance, depth, and context of the time... and just focus on Gilbert being older than Violet like it's actually relevant.

Best anime, hands down. 🥰 Set the bar for animation and writing. Alongside, Snow White With The Red Hair and Fruits Basket (newer version). Love all the feels and artistry.
I can't believe Gilbert has the same voice actor like Eustass Kid. They sound so different. I can't believe Gilbert's "Aishiteru" and Kid's "Punk Gibson" come from the same vocal cords lmao
Reading Gilbert made me think this was an Anne with an E announcement
My tears suddenly 😢🤧
I love this ❤❤ it broke my heart
Sublime. Esa es la palabra. Es sencillamente hermoso. Una belleza.
Movie: Shows house from episode 10
Me: Ah shit here we go again…
I love this vibe soo much 😭😭
It was one of the best series i have seen though it made me cry in every episode😊😊
Me robo el corazón. Un anime precioso, maravilloso!!!!
これをみるたび泣くことしかできなくなります....🥲
