- This video is the companion to the G3 EXT KIT manual. We'll go through step by step how to assemble your G3 EXT KIT giving you the option of having your G3 floor controller at the front of the stage and the G3 EXT KIT either in a rack or on a board back with your amps.
link to the manual is here - www.thegigrig.com/_files/ugd/...
IMPORTANT - The G3 EXT KIT is sold separately to TheGigRig G3

Very nice, and very, very nicely explained. The G3 (with or without this extension kit) looks a fantastic piece of kit, and pretty much essential for musicians with a bunch of pedals to control. We've come a long way since I purchased a Kenton GS8 switcher...almost 30 years ago! Damn that went fast!
And to verify, when I finished my assembly I had some leftover parts: a short ribbon cable that was replaced by the included long cable in the new controller bottom plate, 1 ribbon cable clip (two new ones came with the ext kit), 2 black hex screws, and the original midi module, correct?
Everything is working. Super nice that the 7 pin cable supplies power to the controller, too!
Wow! Looks amazing 😎
Thanks Gareth 🙏
Pretty well explained tbh, always loved this system
Thanks so much 🙏
Welcome to the Bradshaw rig! 😂
Well done team GigRig!!!!! Great that you got it to production after the part shortages!
What’s the longest DIN cable that you can safely use please?
Thanks Paul, we tested it with 80 feet of cable and it was great 👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel Wow, that's enormous! Nice work!
I guess someone had to use all the leftover IDE connectors and cables :) And also, less screws than a keyboard swap in a MacBook Pro
Does the job great Adrian 🤗👍
My goodness, what a marathon! You are placing a lot of faith, in the ability of the average user to be able to successfully achieve this task.
the average user is not the target market for this, it's the artists playing arenas that have guitar techs.
If anyone has any doubt in their ability to do this we can do it, as can our trusted partners in the US and EU
I know this is probably a stupid question, but how do you use a tuner with this setup? Is it native to the lcd screen on g3?
Yes, tuner is built into G3 🤓🙏
There is an Aux output so you could have another tuner back at the rack but at the stage you’ve got it in G3 🤓🙏
This may be a very dumb question, but if the extension board is at my feet, where does your guitar plug in? Is that what the two 1/4" inserts are next to the 7 pin DIN in the back?? I know nothing about 7 pin DIN, so not sure it it's possible for it to send a guitar signal. I'm guessing this how it's done, because it would seem strange to have a 50' 1/4" cable going back to the pedal board off-stage. Clarification here would be much appreciated.
One other thing, can the extension kit only be used with the G3, or can it be used with the G3 Atom as well?
Hi. All audio is in the EXT kit so you would plug in back at the rack. Currently it can only be used with the full size G3 but we may do one for the Atom in future. 🤓🙏
And where is the « HUB » ? Is this one the same ?
Hi, Hub is an extension kit with 6 inputs for floor controllers. Normal ext kit has 2 . So it’s close 👍
No need for ESD precautions?
No, it’s 9V DC, no high voltages inside, safe to work on
@@TheGigRigDaniel No high voltage, sure. But static discharges too small to feel are enough to cause damage to most ICs. And you’ve got a microcontroller in there, right?
When when when when when
available to order now 🤓👍 shipping in the UK now, shipping in the USA from 13 March
Wait, Im super confused here; did I just buy a $400 metal enclosure?
Not at all, you have the circuit boards and cable necessary to convert a G3 in a G3 floor controller with rack mount audio section. If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to contact us at support 🙏
@@TheGigRigDaniel Hi, do you sell G3 Extension Kit + G3 floor controller already assembled?
Bwahaha. Just that simple…Looks great, but “a whole bunch of nuts” to attempt and many a voided warranty. 😂😮
Cheers Angus, we can do it, we also have trusted partners in the US, EU who can do this as well 👍
