For the cut edges of the particle board, there's such a thing as "edge banding" which is just a strip of adhesive-backed veneer. It comes in a roll like tape, and most hardware stores should have it. For the feet I'd either leave it bare wood or use rubber screw-on feet; adhesive felt feet are nice for things kept indoors, but they tend to pick up dirt.
I like the low-height design. I built a table saw with a similar shape and it's worked well for a few years now; having things at ground level is definitely underrated, especially if you're trying to conserve space. Hope the record player repair turns out well, good luck.

My parent's had one of those in the '70s. Mediterranean style, it was all particleboard with fake wood plastic appliques and plastic trim. There wasn't any solid wood in any of it! I remember as a kid opening up the back thinking that there had to be all this "sophisticated" equipment in there. Was shocked to see all this open dead space, which seemed so needless to me. It had a tuner like yours with 8 track and a couple speakers Lol. Mine had the wiring diagram also. I did the same thing you did, but I made a wooden box for it and mounted the turntable and tuner into it! I wound up giving it away to someone.

Good job. They do make laminate tape that you iron on, I think it's about 1 inch wide, but for these purposes I would just suggest wood putty, sandpaper, and a matching stain. It looks like a nice little piece of furniture, you could take the speaker board and turn it upside down, mount it underneath the cabinet, thereby making a more surround, acoustical sound. I think both of those 10in speakers would probably fit in the space. I would like to say that I am neither a woodworker, nor an electronic, or acoustical expert, so my suggestions should be taken with a grain of salt.
I am new to your channel but you are so creative, very happy watching your artistic ability.

Some of the older AM radios in those units will pick up extremely distant stations. The console has to be grounded properly. The AM only car units worked great for DX. I had one that would pick up an AM station in Australia from Illinois. Best pickup in hot mid summer.
Consoles and the like are what made Motorola famous.
Old tube consoles make records from that era like the Beatles sound amazing. Ya I know, the record player is fubar.

“I’m totally new at this” - Rin, that is a totally cool reapplication for that thing, and if this is your first rodeo doing this sort of thing, I’m impressed. I’m usually not for the modification of older cabinet stereos, but that one is crummy enough, it’s better off with the mods. I’m actually shocked- most pieces I’ve seen like that, the side opposite the player controls is set up for record storage. Never seen such a pointless waste of space.
Random question- how old are you?

I'm not to sure about feet, the problem is the legs taper at the end, I think just leave them plain but obviously all matching, your could maybe look at metal covers or felt for the tips (i just think metal ball feet or wheels etc would look odd).
I suggest just leaving it very plain and almost restore it so it looks like it's "meant to be like that", if you have any sections underneath that need covering try and reuse some of the fabric or some speaker mesh.
If/When you fix the electronics I would add a cheap bluetooth module so you can also use it with your phone, they only cost a few bucks but adds so much functionality.

You should probably think about speaker placement before you assemble it any further. I'm not sure the original speakers will fit in the reduced height that you have planned. Also, since the speakers will now be so close together you might want to erect some kind of baffle between them to reduce acoustic coupling. You're unlikely to get a decent stereophonic effect so maybe the baffle is overkill.

You haven't mentioned what (if anything) you're going to do with the second speaker. I suggest you build a box for it and wire the main unit so you can plug a second speaker into it to preserve the stereo. If you're really ambitious, add a switch that will let you switch between stereo and mono.
