This was during my "angry" phase where I was over-doing and over-exaggerating my performance, so I've brought it back into my more natural register. - Likewise, the on-camera segments use many alternate takes that are a bit more natural, although that is a bit difficult when all the takes are angry. - Small edits try to reduce elongation of syllables throughout the on-camera segments. - The film clips have been heavily reduced and cut down. - Movie footage has been upscaled to HD - Music through the review has been replaced. Matt, my classmates were forced to watch this back in high school. I managed to escape and go watch click instead. Along with my usual Teen Titans binge.
This movie reminds me of just how far Al Pacino has come this year with Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and The Irishman being some of his best acting work in years
I guess Scorsese worked a few miracles in 2019 seeing as how he's an executive producer on 'Uncut Gems'. Plus, I guess Pacino leapt at the chance to work with Tarantino with less hesitation than Sandler did when he turned down a role in 'Inglourious Basterds'.
Admittedly this film wasn't the career low-point it could have been, given how he came out with a bit of dignity. But yes it's great that he's not doing a movie like this this year.
Hopingover Leavesinfall Pacino previously appeared in “Gigli”, so I can’t be surprised that he would appear in “Jack and Jill”. Unlike Pacino’s actor friend John Cazale, it’s inevitable that Pacino would appear in some bad movies.
Al Pacino is one of the actors I would watch in anything, and he is good in every role. The Irishman feels a bit like Once Upon Time in America (even running time is close, and you have de Niro in it) but having de Niro and Al Pacino in one movie is always amazing.
He'll keep making them anyway. If you've seen RLM's video on Jack And Jill they propose a lot of Sandler's lazy comedies are scams that cost very little to make, but S claims a grossly large budget and shares it with his celebrity friends. Along with product deals, and free holidays out of location filming.
Jack and Jill is one of those comedies that comes from such a place of cynicism and mean-mindedness, that it's hard to imagine anyone had fun writing or performing any of the "gags" which seemed to be the common thread throughout this past decade for Happy Madison.
Just came across this video and this maybe wasn't the main takeaway but the Turner syndrome mention kinda took me by surprise as I actually have it and it's a pretty rare condition that hardly anyone's heard of so I appreciated it getting mentioned.
@@rezalustig6773 More than that. The Safdie Brothers are the guys that turned Robert Pattinson into one of my new favorite actors. I recommend Good Time if you haven't seen it.
I wouldn't celebrate yet. Caravaggio. He's likely in a rut and it wouldn't surprise me after so many of Sandler's films that failed with both, critics and audiences - he's doing movies like Uncut Gems as a way for him to be liked, or popular again. Or at the very least TRY to be taken seriously as a so-called actor. And what a shock - HE'S NOT POPULAR! 'Cause let's be honest, there WAS a time he was popular for being funny and all. But times have changed and so should he. More specifically, his style of humor. He should reinvent his humor someway, somehow that works. And while his movies made money - and good for him and his Happy Madison friends - but let's be honest they're box-office low-brow comedies. Whatever was once funny in the '80s and '90s are either mildly funny now or in some way have died due to cultural shift changes. People now these days take things WAY more seriously. It's almost as if comedy is dead. I'm not blaming Adam Sandler for killing comedy, but I do believe he should know better to adapt, if not change, his humor rather than staying in the same time period he was over 20 years ago.
Be warned, Sandler has said that if he doesn't win an Oscar for 'Uncut Gems', he will make a movie "so bad on purpose" (perhaps something that could make 'Jack and Jill' look passable).

No lie. I actually had the idea of creating twins that look the same but different gender in a story. I'm glad that Sandler did it first so I didn't have to.
I’ll give the movie this: Where most Adam Sandler movies contain the cliche of pairing female characters with significantly less attractive male characters (not that such pairings don’t really happen, but the trope is pretty one-way in film portrayal), this one at least balanced it out with Jill and Felipe.
I get the feeling that one of the writers got inspired by the peternal twins from Eight Crazy Nights and thought about making a movie solely based on that.
What’s weird is that Adam Sandler voiced both twins in that movie and his voice for the woman was a lot more convincing. That voice wouldn’t have fit Jill though.
Although I haven't watched any of your previous "Sandler Month" episodes, that won't stop me from watching this one. EDIT- 10:32 P.M.: *finishes episode 27 minutes later* It was so satisfying to hear you roast "Jack and Jill". 😂
This is my hated movie of all time. It's not the worst movie I've ever seen, I don't even have any ill will towards Sandler. In fact, there are a couple Sandler movies that got a chuckle out of me. The problem I have with how bitter and mean-spirited the movie is. I know that siblings can be hostile towards each other (I'm guilty of this, as I'm the oldest of two siblings), but this movie is borderline cruel and uncomfortable. The only positive I have towards this movie is the Al Pacino scenes, but then I realized that Al Pacino went through such a downward spiral to star in a movie like this.
That bites that you couldn't review Master of Disguise simply because the Nostalgia Critic already did it. I never understood why he had carte blanche to review what other reviewers on the site already looked at, but you all couldn't review the movies he already did. I think you made the right choice leaving that web site, Mat.
Considering Al Pacino previously appeared in “Gigli” (another “Worst Picture” Razzie winner), it’s no surprise that he would appear in “Jack & Jill”. 😂 😂
Great, another terrible Sandler "comedy" that's set around Hanukkah. As if Eight Crazy Nights hadn't made people miserable enough already. Hey, Adam, instead of promising to make another movie that's just as bad and Jack & Jill, how about you ride the lightning of your resurgence to make a Hanukkah movie that's actually... you know, GOOD? I'm just saying.
Hubie Halloween apparently wasn't terrible, so who knows, maybe this is a sign that his movies will be better in general. And his appearances in The Meyorwitz Stories and Uncut Gems were only two years apart. Sandler has done bad dramas before (Men, Women and Children and The Cobbler come to mind), but he's honestly got a decent enough track record at them that he will probably keep doing them. If only he stayed away from comedies for good (or just appeared in consistently good ones done by other people), but given how he started his career I just don't think that'll happen.
Out of sheer curiosity, how do you mean Zookeeper isnt nearly bad enough for your show? I havent seen it so I wouldn't know but I am intrigued nonetheless 🤔
3:14 but then you realise they pulled this off in the late 60s. I'm not even joking, there's a Doctor Who story called the Enemy of the World where Patrick Troughton plays both the Doctor and the villain Salamander and there are some scenes of them talking at once on the same shot.
Won’t lie I like Adam Sandler and Katie Holmes when they are in good movies but when they’re in something like this movie, they are not good. Especially Adam Sandler. The issue with Katie is that she picks the wrong roles but she at least tried with her roles.
The scene at 14:30 really bugs me. Atheists don't act like hurt puppies when they're accused of not believing in god, and if any Christians really acted like the guy in that scene, I'm pretty sure most of their peers would distance themselves out of sheer embarrassment. I remember this one! One of my favorites. Still, I have to disagree with you on them being both bad. I mean, Jack ain’t a saint but Jill is just a heinous person, I can’t feel for her at all. If she was on her phone at an Alamo Drafthouse, there would be no mercy. Oh, yeah, and Jared Fogle, the Bill Cosby of restaurants...
As much as I enjoy revisiting these BMB episodes tearing into Sandler's work, there's something about them that makes me queasy. It's not the reviews, mind you; it's the film itself. It's easy to see just how bad it is, even in the smaller doses shown here. Also, maybe it's because I've become better acquainted with openly trans people since joining the LGBT+ community myself, but there's something extremely gross about Sandler's portrayal of a woman in this. I know times have changed a lot even in the last few years, let alone when this film was forced upon theaters, but that still doesn't make his performance as Jill any less uncomfortable to watch. If I want to watch something funny featuring twin characters who act like actual people in something that has a real heart behind it, I'll just stick with Gravity Falls.
The funny thing is than when they said they were identical twins and people said it couldn’t work my first thought was “I mean it could if Jill was trans.” And then I realized this film was unintentionally transphobic. Which makes it a million times worse.
Actually, the identical twins things might have worked under a far more creative directing team if Jill was assigned male at birth and she was explicitly transgender.
I think Jill's voice almost sounds like a combination of Gruntilda and Brutella (Beauty and the Beach from Pokemon), but it ends up sounding like a drunk version of them. Adam Sandler is not a good actor in my opinion.
Yeah, "reviewer dibs" was something that a lot of fans took seriously. Although it was also something I did to try and respect other reviewers on the same site. Generally, though, it wasn't worth doing something after [redacted] had done it because you'd just comments telling you it was superfluous and he got most of the views already.
I remember watching this movie with my family as a young teen, it was definitely a pivotal moment of garbage. Almost nobody was entertained except maybe once or twice, and the odd one out here was 9/10 at the time. We stayed for the whole thing, but we were openly trashing it to one another by the end 🎉💩
Wow, just amazing method acting from Adam Sandler. I mean I can never tell it was him the hole time. The way Jill spoke, I wasn't at all like listening to Jar Jar Binks choking on Snarf strangling Gollum, and the writing, timeless! And Al Pacino, his career is on a high note! The product placements make the movie! And everyone else, doing 1000% effort! ......I'm kidding!!!!
yeh i loved pretty much all of sandler movies i would consider myself a big fan were yeh he can really be too mean spirited sometimes but i found enough i liked to ignore it i even found something to like in thats my boy if only for how trashy it was but i could not pretend it was good but this was the one movie of his i could find absolutely not one thing remotely good about it this has to be one of the most painful movies i seen i feel this movie is only made of all the worst parts of sandlers comedy and none of the good parts
"that's antisemitic." "i'm atheist." uh... yeahhh....? that's like saying "that's racist" and replying with "i'm white" or "that's homophobic" then "i'm straight." ???? uh, yeah? those ARE the groups of people usually guilty of doing those things....?????

Eddie Murphy proved he’s still funny last night.
@@HBarnill really?
Um guys... what about fraternal twins? That’s like the only time they can be different genders
Frankly, you dodged a bullet by not reviewing Bucky Larson.
Yeah speaking of which can someone link me to where I can watch that review?

It's back! Its a Christmas miracle.... Well it would be if this movie was so goddamn infuriating that had it not been for Film Brain's review this would be completely unwatchable.
Easily the worst movie of the 2010s.
@@scottylewis8124 Between this and Just Go With It I'm having trouble deciding which is worse.
@@TheSkully343 I feel sorry for Al Pacino. He's old and wasn't as smart as he was before.
@@scottylewis8124 Even if he's not in his prime the fact that he elevated the material (even if slightly) still puts him above Robert De Niro as 'The Godfocker'
Do agree with his sentiments to destroy every copy of the movie.
@@TheSkully343 also, Johnny Depp? What are you doing? Were you blackmailed?
I’m glad I saved my money, and saw this on tv.
I'm sorry that you had to subject yourself to "Jack and Jill" on TV.
How dim were you?
@@thema1998 I expected it to be bad, I didn’t like it at all, but I thought Al Pacino was funny, I thought Just Go With It And Going Overboard we’re worse though because I Hated both them
@@scottylewis8124 I saw Battlefield Earth on tv and laughed at how terrible it was
6:54 I would have but my family didn’t instead my mom pulled me out of the theater and explained why everyone was laughing at the movie and trying to justify the character Jill especially the one toothed grandma in the scene at the Mexican food party.
My favorite Sandler film is happy Gilmore, even though I’m not much of a fan of Sandler films.
I honestly kinda like this movie. It’s so dumb but it does feel like the actors are having fun with it
honestly the only impact this movie has made on me is the bird drinking chocolate scene and only because it's an old tumblr meme
i like how you review bad comedy movies since most reviewers wouldn't sink that low
Jared has been on a downward decline ever since he was convicted of child molestation.
Scotty Lewis Hes still lookin’ good... eatin’ those sandwiches...
Actually he was convicted of of possession of child porn. Granted it that’s not better, but I want to be accurate
Sheridan Mann I meant how he used to be beloved before being revealed to be a sex offender.

Dude your squeaky voice actually reminds me of Jill lol
9:35 why jill failed.
No note from the future for that one? Oh nevermind.
Scientific research. It's great for you.
RIP Funbucket
He deserved better than this...
Can you look at Gantz O👹🔫💀
14:10-14:15 Why is this cringeworthy in hindsight, exactly? I’m just curious and probably an idiot.
Jared Fogle had been found guilty of possession of child pornography.
Alex Klepp Oh
@@alexanderklepp same with Jeffrey Jones.
I’m Convinced that Adam Sandler Blackmailed Al Pacino into being in Jack and Jill LOL
Nevertheless Pacino is the Best Part Of Jack And J
The Master of Disguise rules!
Actually, the identical twins things might have worked under a far more creative directing team if Jill was assigned male at birth and she was explicitly transgender.
frankly i’m glad they didn’t think of that
Oh no. Please no. 😭
a classic BMB!
I think Jill's voice almost sounds like a combination of Gruntilda and Brutella (Beauty and the Beach from Pokemon), but it ends up sounding like a drunk version of them. Adam Sandler is not a good actor in my opinion.
Is there a law that if you work for Channel Awesome you can’t review a film someone else has reviewed? The hell?
Yeah, "reviewer dibs" was something that a lot of fans took seriously. Although it was also something I did to try and respect other reviewers on the same site. Generally, though, it wasn't worth doing something after [redacted] had done it because you'd just comments telling you it was superfluous and he got most of the views already.
Film Brain Oh my god, another person whose videos I watch responded to me. I’m in awe.
@@FilmBrain Looking back that rule was kinda stupid.
Then again I suppose when it came to [REDACTED] he got first dibs because he was the money maker.
Matthew Cool I think I’ve actually seen that review. I think the beginning skit sums up Walker and the controversy in a nutshell.
Oh, sorry, I mean [REDACTED].
15:30 cmon brain dont does de Niro was a great portrayel of the character
Wow, just amazing method acting from Adam Sandler. I mean I can never tell it was him the hole time. The way Jill spoke, I wasn't at all like listening to Jar Jar Binks choking on Snarf strangling Gollum, and the writing, timeless! And Al Pacino, his career is on a high note! The product placements make the movie! And everyone else, doing 1000% effort!
......I'm kidding!!!!
6:05 Heheh, yeah, that would suck if a rising tide of racism swept in on "hey, it's just a joke, snowflake!"

yeh i loved pretty much all of sandler movies i would consider myself a big fan were yeh he can really be too mean spirited sometimes but i found enough i liked to ignore it i even found something to like in thats my boy if only for how trashy it was but i could not pretend it was good but this was the one movie of his i could find absolutely not one thing remotely good about it this has to be one of the most painful movies i seen i feel this movie is only made of all the worst parts of sandlers comedy and none of the good parts
24:19 this is what Al pachio thinks of the movie
"that's antisemitic."
"i'm atheist."
uh... yeahhh....? that's like saying "that's racist" and replying with "i'm white" or "that's homophobic" then "i'm straight." ???? uh, yeah? those ARE the groups of people usually guilty of doing those things....?????
