Bro, there are better things to do than go to war for terrible movies and directors

You go to war for things you care about. This is my battle, and if it isn’t yours then go somewhere else.

Wonderful, glad to have you here! I can't wait for August 2nd, that's when the director's cuts some out. I'll also be posting a reaction to the director's cut trailer soon.

Creative decisions can be bad and deserving of criticism. Creative decisions aren’t automatically good or free of criticism solely because they’re a “creative decision.” By that logic, nobody can criticize any “creative decisions” Gunn ends up making in his new superman movie.

Honestly, I don’t get all the Hate that Rebel Moon movies gets. But I could say that about other films that Zack has made.

Well, general consensus have said Sack Schneider doesn't know squat about characters he makes movies of, doesn't bother to learn source materials and everything is like Michael Bay, but terrible. There's a reason people hate his shite and I don't see the so-called "target audience" filling up his slots. Hey weren't you guys claimed Sack Schneider was "threatened" to make his own version so why praise everything he does now?

    • @superjesusjackson

His fans are definitely in the minority, but we’ll continue to support him as long as he keeps making movies. And “Sack Shneider” is pretty funny I’ll give you that lol

I read the books(based on the extended cut) and I can confidently say that the scene makes sense. Come August 2nd that video will age like milk. 😁

Creative decisions have to make sense... in a movie. Things have to connect. Sack is great at making scenes...but a cohesive movie ... 💩

    RUclipsrs v Zack Snyder
I watched a review from The Critical Drinker whom I am subscribed to and had several things to say about it. The first thing I have to say is, watch his review of the One Piece Netflix adaptation. He talks about how the absurdity of everything just works because everyone acts like it is normal. In this review of Rebel Moon part 2 (Which I have not seen mind you). All of the details that made up the world had to follow some kind of logic that he made up in his head because he was not bought in. Granted, that is a natural human reaction. His hatred of Zack Snyder seeps into their reviews and frankly, I am oddly sympathetic with that. I am kind of tired of telling people and people telling me that I can't have expectations about work before going in and that it invalidates their or my opinion. I know why Zack is divisive and I feel that I carry the burden to understand and accept that. Some complex social issues make him divisive. He enjoys playing with subversion and deconstruction at a time when those two tools are often used to spite the audience. Most audiences are not able to discern the difference between subversion and deconstruction used appropriately and subversion and deconstruction used spitefully. What reviews like this always scream out to me is a brazen and gleeful lack of self-awareness. I think also for a lot of people like Drinker, Zack has been sacrificed on the altar of "Hey, look. I am balanced." Hating Zack Snyder gives him and others in his circle a mostly politically neutral franchise to castigate to give the appearance of not being partial to certain ideologies. I will say, the one place where I believe him is that he thinks that Zack Snyder is self-important probably because of experiences he has had with some Snyder fans who are not as level-headed as the ones reading this. Some fans thrive on controversy and victim mentality. I know, it's hard to believe.
One of the most divisive topics amongst the Zack Snyder fandom is whether the fandom is behaving like it ought to behave or whether it deserves some of the criticism it gets. There have been many power plays within the fandom and criticisms of the fandom have been efforts at clout or to seize power. So I get why it is a controversial topic. My opinion is this. I think it does deserve the criticism it gets but I also would not ask the fandom to change. I frankly don't blame Drinker or the aggressive Snyder Fans. The kinds of movies that Zack Snyder makes invite that kind of audience and frankly I love Zack's work for it. I like the things that others call "pretentious" and "self-important". I like the things that others call "dark" and "self-serious". I like the machismo in his movies, the edge, the bite. I like the grandiosity of it all and the people who also feel at home in that environment are going to be the ones a decade later writing think pieces about it because that is what his work does. It was never going to be any other way. Another reason why many fans are the way they are is that the Snyder Fandom is (for the most part) very well-gatekept which in principle I am very much in support of. As I have always said, "Everyone loves being at the center of a gatekept fandom but no one likes being gatekept out of a fandom."
I have watched films, TV, and anime that I did not enjoy but were very well-liked and the people who liked that thing were very dismissive of people who didn't. It is kind of a "you get it or you don't" franchise and people on the outside can feel very excluded and/or patronized. They might act as though the people who didn't like it could not possibly comprehend the subtlety and nuance of the work. I am sure that many of us have felt like that at one time or another and if so, maybe we can extend some grace to these RUclipsrs whose schtick is being a voice for the "common audience member". I think there is a place for the "common audience member", it is a normalizing force that is much needed from time to time but in the case of the RUclipsr industrial complex Zack was an unfortunate victim which is why lately I have been focusing my attention on other filmmakers that want to advocate for their vision in the light of top-down persecution. Zack can't single-handedly represent the insistent visionary who fights against the Studios to bring his work to the fore. Even Zack in so many words in his interview with Joe Rogan said that any pushback against him was tantamount to a tick away from auteur-driven content and towards AI.
I have seen the kinds of movies that people like Drinker enjoy, many of them do not take themselves seriously which I think many audiences make them think that the creator is more "human" or "down to earth". It's the whole "My Superheroes Go to Schwarma" phenomenon. The greatest way to take a piss out of any artist who makes a sincere attempt at art is to say that he is trying too hard or that he takes himself too seriously. "He arted too close to the sun". I could go on forever about this but what I have come to realize is that this was inevitable. I would never want to watch a Zack Snyder film that Drinker approved of if you could call it a Zack Snyder film at all. The only thing I can hope for is for Zack to continue to do what he does best the best he knows how and for others to take up the mantle where Zack leaves off.

That's cute, but why have yokels like him complain when the majority calling Schneider's arts a bastardization of a beloved property? This isn't an art gallery, Sack is paid bring more profits to a company and I failed to see "artistic vision" has anything to do with "battling the gatekeeping fandom" is an expression of a repressed artist. Sure he may sometimes have a good movie like M. Night Shyamalan but other than that, they're dissed on for valid reasons.

Beautifully said my friend. I love how balanced you are and how objective you try to be. I too hope that we can all just stop with hatred and vitriol on both sides. Sometimes I'm part of the problem, but I'll try to talk about things that I love more than what I dislike.

@@superjesusjackson Oh don't worry mate, Sack Schneider isn't returning to ruin DC movies and Disney will sack him just as soon. If you think that's unfair for him to not understand source materials, do go on and fund him yourself. If yoy know you are part of the "problem", don't try to smug yourself by excusing them. That's why video games and movies keep getting worse each year.
