Some of these comments are so disappointing. Shows that when it comes to women exercising their right to leave a bad marriage, people will always find a way to invalidate her experience or convince her it wasn’t that bad. Nobody runs from home if home isn’t on fire. No woman leaves a happy home with 4 kids unless she feels she HAS to.

Marriage is not an easy task. I am 41, I met my husband when i was 20 and we got married in 2012 when i was 30 years old. I have know him for a total of 22 years and being married officially for 12 years and 10 years into our marriage I began questioning myself. Not that i didn't love him but i felt i needed more especially growth. It seemed like our ideas drifted apart, he was contented where he was but i was looking for more. It made me bitter and i started asking who i was was. Marriage is not easy, both parties have to accept change and most especially communication at every step of the way. Yeah i am still in my marriage taking 1 day at a time and loving myself more. My husband has promised to be better and I have decided to give give him that chance because i believe in chances. What most men do not understand is that a woman cannot just walk out of her marriage overnight, she has thought about it for years and she has poured out her heart to husband in many different ways but they don't seem to see it

@Neddie2k you see your comment, this is an example of judging a book by its cover. You don't know my struggles and you don't what I bring to the table in this marriage. If I married expecting fairy tales, there is nothing wrong with it as long as that fairy tale was to be with the person I cherished and was also willing to share the bills with in order to reduce the burden and make life easy for all of us. Do you know how tiring it is to be with someone who does not want to grow? I am not asking to change my husband because you cannot change a person but I am asking him to adapt to the changes in life. I support my husband in everything even without him asking because I feel we are one, I bring business ideas and he does not want to engage in, always saying he will think about it. I don't ask him for anything but I do give him gifts and it will take me to talk to him to appreciate me before he will do it. My father passed away, my husband did not give me any money as his contribution towards the funeral and recently he wanted to travel for his mother's Thanksgiving ceremony, I gave him my money as my contribution. Your comment is so blank and I bet you are a man. A woman who has spent years with a man does not just wake up and walk out of her marriage. Marriage is not easy because two imperfect and often unaware of their own traumas get together and when you bring kids and extended family into the mix things can get pretty difficult.
My husband and I met when we both moved to Ghana years ago and made the decision to move back to Europe when we had our first child. We both knew that adding the financial stress of living in Ghana to our fresh marriage wouldn’t have been smart.
There are two roles that society has failed to prepare us for and the first one is the role of a spouse.
The second one is that of a parent.
You did the best you could with the tools you were given.

It takes two very, very strong people to make the commitment into marriage. So proud of you Sister Dela, I have always known you are going to do great things and my hope as you walk through this journey of life it will bring you. back on another level with Jesus and your relationship with Jehovah our Precious Father. He is the only one who can fill that void you spoke about. We should be His bride first before we can be a bride to any man that has a true progressive reflection of who our Lord Jesus Christ is. Your doing Well Sis, keep going, staying true to yourself. Your test will be a testimony and your mess a message that many will learn from and take courage to walk in their own truth and make decisions that may be difficult but will strengthen their resolve to take that step to be heard,...... to be counted. I say this as I have a story too, maybe not like yours, but it is a story nevertheless that needs to be told in Gods perfect timing. I am praying that at the end of all this, there will many joyous and victorious years ahead. God bless you and your familly. Many of us are rooting for your successes. Amen 🙏🙏❤

@@gb6041 for the very fact that Dela is willing to put herself out there and tell her story is a testimony in itself. Many do not have the courage to do so. Many shroud their pain in secrecy. Divorce is not a testimony but how your position yourself and rise above the pain of divorce because the testimony. When I referred to Dela doing great things, I talking about her divorce but more so her approach to trauma of divorce. I am a product of divorced parents and it was horrific for me and watching mother become a shadow of her former self within the marriage then coming out and rushing into a second one that was worse than the first. So I know what I am talking about. I wish my mother had taken the step to find herself and discover herself before even thinking of remarriage. Now she is sad elderly lady who failed at both marriages due to poor choices and giving herself time to find herself grow and evolve. This is what I applaud Dela for. Once you know thyself, you able to make wiser more informed choice. You will be able to know what will work for you and with you and even more so when Jesus is at the centre of all that you do.
