Piedmont Hay Bale Fire 192nd St & Piedmont Rd 12/5/21

Piedmont Brush 1 arrived on scene of a small fire in heavy fuel load with rapid spread. With high winds and access issues, the fire grew to a rather large size quickly. A quick and large response from PFD's volunteers brought all brushers and tankers to the scene, and crews quickly knocked the head down and contained the fire. Crews mopped up the outlying areas of the fire before regrouping to attack the 17 hay bales that were on fire. Crews opted to burn out an area downhill from the bales and then push them into that area. Tanker 2 was then brought in and firefighters soaked down what was left of the bales. Crews were on scene for around 5 hours before returning. Great work by PFD!
