Rory: "Throttle fixes everything; If it doesn't fix the problem it'll end the suspense." That is literally the most prophetic thing that I have ever heard you say my friend. Keep it up!!!
You guys are like an ingenious comedy team. The nuance of your brilliance is played out on the off-comment, in the gray spaces. Really appreciated for a Saturday morning coffee.
It would not be difficult for Rory to MAKE a U-Joint press, and with as many U-Joints as you guys change it would pay for its self in short order. I had a very rusted in U-Joint that I, (a mechanic) took to the driveline shop for them to change rather than beat the fire out of my yokes. I would build one my self, but I change a U-Joint once every 4 years or more, and it just easier to take it to town.
Presses bend ears like NOW! Hammer them in and your good to go. I have a press and more often go to a hammer for U Joints, not always buttttt. PLUS there are no presses out on the trail so being good at it is a perk.
@@tomhubbard353 I can understand that, I have beat them in and out many times, but, how many times have you had a needle bearing fall out and could not get the snap ring in, and then had to beat it all apart to put the needle back in place in the cap? I have had that happen way more than once. I have also screwed up the cap. I have had to beat the yoke to get the joint to work freely too. A real U-Joint press will never distort the yoke. I have had to resort to cutting the cross in half in the field, and heat the yoke a bit to get a severely rusted joint replaced. I was a heavy equipment mechanic for 45 years, so I have done plenty of nasty U-Joints, but I prefer to take the real nasty ones to pros.
" Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right...Here I am, stuck in the middle with you"... For some reason , a day in the shop reminds me of that song. ;)
"if it doesn't fix the problem, it'll end the suspense" is another way of saying "If in doubt, Flat Out!" which was the motto of the late Colin McRae, a famous Rally driver
Wish I could hang out with you guys this year but, alas, I'm going to be stuck in the flat lands of Nord Deekotah! Have fun, be safe, and we'll catch ya down the trail!
Love Lilly's Jeep. Bent push rods are usually an indication of over-rev, valve float, valve hitting piston. Before the days of rev-limiters being built into engine control computers, this was a common problem.
Literally "dusting off" the old Jeep! 😅 Better double check with Lilli first though 😅 Amazing... now everyone will want a 315 V7 😂🤣😂 Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video. Really Really liked seeing and hearing the one and only true trail mater. Absolutely Love that truck. Be safe Rory and crew in all you do.
Lilli's jeep is the BEST!!! For 33 years we had our yellow '77 CJ7 and went everywhere in it!! Sure wish you'd been around in the late '80s when we got into trouble coming out of Bobbie's Hole on the really steep road! But guess you were still in grade school back then...Ha!
The Scrambler sounded like a top fuel funny car pulling up to stage when you pulled into the shop. The nice thing about the electrical tape bandages they are flexible and durable all the while allowing oil, solvents and other shop liquids to flow into the wound cleansing it.
Funny thing about being cheap. It leaves you a opertuity to fix other stuff too. "Cheaply" . Which has always worked for me 2 . Good stuff . Thanks for your time and sharing.
Oh wow! Lily gots and Purple Jeep! You’re a Great dad Rory. Plus you’re an Excellent Teacher, Too. I remember when she was knee high to grass hopper. Enjoy these precious memories Rory. Great fix on the axles and transfer case guys. Can’t believe your channel isn’t just exploding. 🤙😎 PS, mikes panning to the press was funny🤣
Left a comment on a Laura Farms video the other day on how I'm looking forward to ya'll hooking up. What an interesting collaboration, it'll be fun no matter what.
You Rory are like my Father was in the 1930s. I was the youngest of 6 and learned from the best. 88years in Az. He was born in1912 the oldest sibling and went to Gilbert as a young man in 1933 to work for Conoco oil as a mechanic and in 1934 they told him if he wanted it they would pay for the lease on the property if he would give them their profits from the gas (ha) he agreed as he was an A Student at Mesa Highschool and we ended up being the oldest business in Downtown Gilbert. Then in 2021 when our town was being taken over by Bar's and Restaurant's we found we could sell our land for 3000% of what our Father paid. Now I watch you all do what my brothers and I did about like what you all are doing. We have had so much fun doing the same thing you all are doing now. I turn 71 on the 19th of March 2024, and my wife and I will be on one of many trips around the world. Love watching all you hard working crazies that reminds of my youth till now... You will be here too. Say hello to Lilli fo me. She riminds me of 2 sweet girls of mine that said Dad can we do this again. 4X4
You guys are awesome! You make BYM's proud by doing so much with so little and showing all the tricks of the BYM trade WHILE not using the expensive , makes the job easier, equipment in the shop. Knowing how to do it without that equipment gives us hope knowing we can.
Reminds me of a 400 I just built. It had a wiped lobe on the exhaust and a bent push rod on the intake of the same cylinder. Another seven cylinder. It drove into our shop like that wanting a "tune-up" to make it run better. We rebuilt the engine the more we took apart, the more wrong we found.
Rory….you should put your Quote about a throttle fixes everything, if it doesn’t fix the problem it’ll end the suspense on the back of a T-shirt with Rory on the front. I’d definitely buy a few!!! Absolutely Love that quote ❤️❤️❤️
😂 that was the funniest thing ever! Seeing Rory beat the shaft together and Mike turning with the camera looking at the press 😆 you guys are the best ! 😂
about five times too much stick-out of the three-jaw chuck. Either support the end with a deeper center drill or choke up onto the splines and use wooden wedges at the back of the headstock to keep the axles from whipping. Chatter means not enough support.
Lily's got a 304 with points ignition and a supper coil 👏👏 old timie tradition's ❤❤ Start collecting timing chain covers 🤔😉 hopefully someone changed the splined rear hubs 🤞😉.. Great Starter Jeep 👏👏👏 Take Care and Enjoy ✌️🤠
I always wondered if you used your lathe...and can't Mike go to long without hurting himself lol And good for Lilly ❤, I was sure she would have a 4x4 of some sort 😉 , Sup Shawn.
When facing on the lathe go from inside to outside, you will get a much nicer finish. When you hear the bit chatter either slow the rpm down or make the cut deeper. In your case you had to much material hanging out of the chuck.
Don’t knock it till you try it. I ran a 350 V-7 for a couple years. But then it broke my crank in half and had no choice after that. But then I put a 383 stroker back in and it’s a power house.
Hey Rory whats your guesstimated time of completetion on Robbys tow truck? Im curious and hooked on watching you do magic with this project. Everytime you touch it, it keeps looking better and better. Thanks you for inviting us into the shop to witness a great off road tow truck build.
Who needs 8 cylinders when 7 will do the job. Quick fix to get you going in a pinch. Mike I definitely think we should change your name to Clumsy Carp. You seem to be an injury waiting to happen. I'd tell you to step away from the tools but now you have shown that walking seems to be a problem as well. Glad you are okay & can laugh about it. Thanks for sharing.
Rory: "Throttle fixes everything; If it doesn't fix the problem it'll end the suspense."

This needs to be on a shirt!
@@adameaton3682agreed!
I liked Mike’s pan over to the press when Rory was hammering on the u-joints.
Lilli has the best Dad ever!
Agreed 💯👍
👍
I agree 100%

That slow pan to the hydraulic press while Rory is viciously hammering on the axle shaft totally got me... 😂😂😂
You guys are like an ingenious comedy team. The nuance of your brilliance is played out on the off-comment, in the gray spaces. Really appreciated for a Saturday morning coffee.
That was the coldest camera pan to the press. Mike is savage!
Nice camera work Mike! Cracking me up focusing on the press while Rory is using the hammer.

A Jeep is in her blood forever. Well done Dad. You are a super guy to include her and make her a part of the show.

That slow pan to the press was great Mike LOL
Whoa, Lilli's jeep is SHARP. That's a looker!
It's a sweet looking Jeep, and it's purple, the best color.
I love the way Justin edits the zoom in on the press on every single hammer blow.
"if it doesn't fix the problem, it'll end the suspense" is another way of saying "If in doubt, Flat Out!" which was the motto of the late Colin McRae, a famous Rally driver
When in doubt tac it out
Awesome attitude for a rally driver.
Not that great for helicopter piloting.
Indeed!!!

Throttle fixes everything If it doesn’t fix the problem It’ll end the suspense . That sounds like a t-shirt line . Good quote by Rory
I 100% agree!
“…it’ll end the suspense”. Classic line right there. 😂
Good to See You Fine Folk’s, Lilli is a Very Lucky Young Lady
Let’s goo it’s always awesome to see kids be interested in what their parents do! Especially when the parent is Rory lol
Yeah, she's growing up, right. God help her first real boyfriend and or husband! lol
Prepping the jeep. Adopting a lifestyle that focuses on preparedness and self-reliance. Wow. Nice.
Literally "dusting off" the old Jeep! 😅 Better double check with Lilli first though 😅 Amazing... now everyone will want a 315 V7 😂🤣😂 Thanks for sharing!
Hammering in the U joint cups with a press right behind him LOL!
you guys are full of wit this morning....gooey centers and your momma was a 44 has my wife worried about me laughing over here!😁😁😁
Excellent job guys.....prepping is so important....your crew works so well while the "one liners" fly and work gets done !
A good anvil and a hammer, you can build anything. And a vice that doubles as an anvil also helps.
-- thanks for the creative creative solutions. ---
Troll Cam while Rory is hammering in U Joints .. Perfect!!!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
And another great advice with the trail mater comedy crew .
Good job everyone!
Something very soothing about watching the lathe do it’s thing…☺️
We have the same saying on dirt bikes....When in doubt...throttle out!
So that's why 'Search and Rescue's' motto is "When you fall, give us a call'?
Love Mike's camera action lol
I always enjoy your video's as each one is different to the previous one!
Awesome video. Really Really liked seeing and hearing the one and only true trail mater. Absolutely Love that truck. Be safe Rory and crew in all you do.

Best advice lol. And the scramble handle is awesome.
Last minute thrash before the games ! Thanks for sharing !
You probably already know the oil pressure will push the lifters out of the block, then boom!!! Flat cam lobes, cam kit is the true fix.
The oil already had a sheen of metallic anti-seize, so it'll go out with a bang as a V7..

Have fun at the games

Throttle fixes everything or ends the suspense

Thanks for the share boys, gonna be a heck of a ride at the games for sure 😅 looking forward to it
