I really appreciate the fact you teach different styles of music. It shows you're not in this just for business, otherwise you'd be forking out the usual hits. Hats off Mr MacLennan !
Hi Jon, I love the song choices and the rhythm part of the lessons. However, I’m always going elsewhere to do lessons because you don’t explain the various layers you play in the into, or the soloing. I’ve been using my loop pedal a lot and would appreciate more lessons with the layers also taught. Thanks 🙏
Hey Joshua. It depends on the lesson. I have hundreds of lessons breaking down solos on my channel. Here is an entire playlist dedicated to just solos: ruclips.net/video/t0E7rcIL-q4/видео.html However for the intros that aren't covered I just jam on the song, these are 100% improvised. Also the guitar parts I play for a melody at the beginning of the videos are nowhere in the song or the actual recording. So most people are not going to search for that or care to watch a video unfortunately. It is me just jamming. To learn how to do this first learn the rhythm and then learn the melody to the song, and to help with that download my book about soloing here: www.jonmaclennan.com/freebook Hope that helps! Here is also another playlist where I teach the melodies to songs as well so these are things I use in the intro jams: ruclips.net/video/VwIxVvKqvXk/видео.html
Hey John! Here is a tip to keep in mind as well. You can take any bar chord and make it a non-bar chord by just playing the top either 4 or even just top 3 strings. This is a great way to simplify any song and would sound good on this one, jamming with the recording on strings 1-3 or 1-4. This would eliminate any barring. Hope that helps! Keep up the great work.
