Hey guys and hey Chris, just wanted to say I got my IELTS back today and got a 8.5 overall L 9, R 9, S9 and W7 - guys if you're studying for this just focus on Chris' videos and also get your work checked by them too if you can afford it. Better yet I'd sign up for the course if you can! And most importantly practise practise practise! I'm a native speaker so it was a little different for me, but writing was my weakest point! Chris' videos and website are a literal goldmine! THANK YOU CHRIS, GOD BLESS YOU!

I took the test today and the writing task 1 had a graph where y axis data wasn’t labelled. There were dotted lines and other pattern of lines that were supposed to represent 4 countries. So I mentioned “let’s consider dotted lines as country A,B ” and did that for all 4, in the overview paragraph. I prepared for just 5 days and hadn’t come across these type of questions. Was it the correct way to approach it or will there be deduction of points for assumption when data isn’t mentioned?

    Hey, Chris!
I have been watching your videos to improve my task 2. I have just written my best essay ever. I would really love if your or someone with experineve gave feedback on this.
The world has many towns and cities constructed in previous centuries that were more suitable and livable for people in those times than they are now.
    What problems will this cause?
What can be done to solve these problems?
There are many towns and cities built in past centuries. However, their liveability and suitability no longer matches for today's standards compared to those times. This essay will demonstrate how the infrastructure such as the lack of proper roadways and sewage systems lead to some major problems, and how building roads and sewers can help solve them.
One major problem of the old cities is that they do not have suitable pavements for transportation. For example, in most European cities, roads are paved with cobblestone. People, in these areas, must drive their vehicles slowly due to the inconvenient road, and to prevent a possible damage to their cars. Moreover, cities and towns built in previous centuries do not have appropirate sewers. That is to say, they do not have equipments to filter out the waterwaste. Therefore, the waste is not cleaned, and as a result causes some serious diseases. For instance, according to recent medical research, it has been discovered that in 1850s,the collected waste in sewers caused some severe diseases in London.
One possible way of solving the kind of problem mentioned above is to build proper roads for smooth transportation. Although, considering the fact the nostalgia may hit hard when it comes to replacing the cobblestones with asphalt, convenience should always be first priority over luxury. Furthermore, building new sewers or upgrading the ones that already exist is a way-to-go. This approach not only disposes of any possibilty of random diseases caused by the waste filled in sewers, but it also helps to clean the water contributing to the agriculture. For example, in 2010, in Samarkand, the goverment decided to build more advanced sewers with modern requirements. As a result, the waterwaste, now, is being cleaned and used in the agriculture.
In conclusion, there are some infastructural cases such as the lack of a sewage system and asphalt roads that can cause diseases and rough driving in older cities and towns. They can be solved via building or upgrading sewers and roadways.

Hey Chris! Just wanted to drop in and say thank you because I got back my IELTS results and got an 8.5 overall (L9, R9,S8,W7.5),
I’ve given the IELTS before but always got an 8 overall so 8.5 was a welcomed surprise. The only issue was that I usually got an 8.5 in speaking and I always wondered what stopped me from getting a 9 so the 8 band was a little surprising. I’ve never gotten professional IELTS training so have never gotten my skills checked outside of the test itself so haven’t gotten real feedback. I’d love to do a mock exam with you one day and see what’s the outcome! Just out of curiosity 😅
Nevertheless, good luck to everyone who’s studying for their IELTS! Remember that practice is really the only way to succeed. Consume content in English to increase your vocabulary and watch videos from reliable sources like IELTS advantage. You can’t hack your way through IELTS so don’t waste time trying to and just be consistent with your practice.

What? Writing task 1 can be kind of this? I thought writing task 1 includes only graphics bar charts and etc. is it rarely task? I mean in IELTS

The writing task 1 you normally know is IELTS academic. In IELTS general writing task 1 is writing a letter.
