      tofiysld And if it took you 15 minutes then you have bigger problems than belt tying.

      Sayeth the guy who most likely needed the whole 15 minutes.

      Actually, wolfgang penselmeister, you saw the video. He showed three different belt ties and properly utilizing the gi pants.
      I get what you're saying, though. Rener can be long-winded; I can, too. His videos still have loads of neat little pearls of wisdom to heed, though.

    I asked Royler how to escape a triangle, he said "I don't know, you tell me?" then laughed. It took me almost half to way to the end of the seminar before I figured it out. For those who are still scratching their heads, he had just tapped to Bravo's triangle and I didn't know that.

    I got caught in a few triangles last week and found this video. I used the technique during rolls last night. Worked great! Only problem is, I didn't frame on my head at the end and slide out so when I tried to escape I got caught in a reverse triangle. Looking forward to mastering this technique and eventually not getting caught in triangles anymore!

      if they reverse triangle, you keep your arm under the thigh and roll right back over

      goku change I've been thinking about this topic for years. I'm finally settling on being ok with open mouth chewing. Given that most of the experience of taste is probably driven by olfaction, I think open mouthed chewing probably greatly benefits the perception of taste.

    I have used this escape for over a year now. I am a blue belt and have not been triangled since except for twice, both by brown belts. Trust me it's a major improvment! But I have been omoplata'ed so that is the danger. I also have not really been able to finish the pass like the video indicates. However...its easy to weave your hand inside and just go back to closed guard. In the configuration shown in the video it would be Reners left hand. This is the only escape I use. If I get omoplata'ed. It's easier to escape than a triangle otherwise, and your hand is already blocking the hip so it's no quick finish omoplata they will have to fight. I usually just roll under the leg doing Faria's omoplata escape. But you usually end up on bottom. Better than tapping.

    well, its a modify elbow down defense, if you cant deal with that arm, you should change to a reverse triangle, then work on that arm, not easy, but its what you should do in these cases.

    i think the only way to escape a triangle choke is to do so before the guy pushes your left hand out of his guard from under his thigh. even if he is pushing your head down u can still escape it. once he is the position shown in this video where both his legs are behind your neck and one of your hands outside the guard,u can only prevent it.

  • @rakhit
    @rakhit 5 лет назад +1

    So what's the escape once it's locked in? This is more preventing. The key points I've learned once it's locked in is to fight for the hand on the inside. Do not let it get stuffed under your neck. Keep it to the outside of the opponents waste, same side. Then posture up and start turning into the outside of the leg that is wrapped over your neck. Then take the other hand and grab your opponents clothing (as if you were doing a double leg pass from guard while stacking) and commit to the same stack pass. I've broken triangles from even some of the toughest guys with tree trunks for legs. Sure, it hurts when you're doing it but you don't get choked out and you end up in side mount.
    Awesome prevention method though. I will definitely have to try this once I feel my opponent going for a triangle.

    • @tjl4688
      @tjl4688 2 года назад +1

      If you want an escape for when it's locked, that's different video. Triangles can be finished from a partial lockup, so this still counts as an escape.

    switching to the reverse triangle kills this escape. You transition to reverse triangle it breaks the arm across or wrist locks you. then you switch back to regular triangle to finish.

    • @ezkieler850
      @ezkieler850 7 лет назад +4

      I rewatched it and I stand by my statement. It looks like good stuff, but it's not an escape from a locked up triangle.

    • @ezkieler850
      @ezkieler850 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah I guess I don't consider it a triangle unless it's locked in. I've been shown a couple good escapes from a locked in triangle, but even those are going to be hard to pull off if the guy is good. Some real flexible guys with long legs can get a good angle without scooping a leg in a blink of an eye. So you wouldn't necessarily have that opportunity where it is loose. Plus when you pull the head down when it's fully locked up, it's usually game over.
