The high drop rate is because he challenged the community to get him to a million subscribers by a certain date, as a reward he would drop a track a week, with his album dropping next month. Keep growing dude!

This is a perfect example of the way in which Ren is able to utilize multiple musical disciplines at a high level to create these hybrid genres. We're in uncharted territory here, and I'm down for it. Oddly, I somehow feel like he's only just now coming into his own, in spite of all of the interesting works he's created before.

Nice reaction fellow Canadian! 🇨🇦 Regarding the “trailing off” of the notes when Ren sings, he has said many times how much Jeff Buckley has inspired him. Jeff Buckley was an American singer, songwriter and guitarist who tragically drowned in 1997 at the age of 30.
Like Masochist, Lost All Faith is an older song. The following info is copied from Ren’s Community tab. It provides insight into songs on the soon-to-be-released Sick Boi album (Oct. 13th).
“One of the most valuable learning curves about releasing this album for anyone who gives a shit:
I started working on this album after leaving a very frustrating situation in the music industry which pissed me off (understatement) and decided I wanted to make an album for fun, for myself, not particularly deep or introspective, but for the love of the creation of music. Situations surrounding greed in the music industry had almost tainted something that was sacred for me, so I decided I was just gonna do what I did when i first started making beats at 13 years old, make beats, write lyrics, not care about the outcome, not try to make them particularly clever or something that would be 'big' just something I enjoyed making. Therapy.
I started this process in winter 2021. What I didn't know when I was making it was how many people would be listening. Flash to winter 2022, right before I was about to go to Canada, I'd been sitting on this concept for about 5 years, a song where I'd be arguing with my subconscious, live while playing guitar, I thought it'd be cool to bring it to life before I left, as a more conceptual digital theatre type piece. I remember sitting on Brighton beach and writing most of it while i was freezing my balls off looking at the sea. This writing process was different and I chiselled away at each line a lot more carefully. I didn't know then but releasing this weird 9 minute long song in a basement would mean by the time the album that was always meant as a bit of fun came out, there would be over a million people listening.
I always wanna stay truly authentic. Because the album was always just meant to be a bit of fun, I started having periods where i was shitting myself after Hi Ren came out because I knew it wasn't as good as I can do, and here were people coming from Hi Ren expecting something prolific and then there's me on tracks making dick jokes and just having fun with flowing.😂 I was struck with what hits most artists. Crippling MF'in self doubt. There were a few points where I challenged this and decided to really write while in Canada. Once was the end of Suicide and my eulogy For Joe, the second time was Money Game Part 3, which didn't actually exist until I moved to Canada. I knew, just for my own sake, I had to write one of the best things I've ever made or I'd feel like people would just think the lyrics in Hi Ren were a one off. I sat down, and wrote a 7 minute piece that for me sits up there with the Tales of Jenny and Screech, Hi Ren, and the other two Money Games and I'm actually really proud of how it turned out.
But back to the point. The more I thought about it, the more I realised, life isn't always just a series of these big profound moments that happen sequentially one straight after the other. If I hadn't played about with some of those tracks and made them for fun, I'd have probably not reminded myself why I enjoy making music so much. I do it for me first. I didn't want to pull the plug on it just because I knew I had it in me to do better.
Fuck always trying to be the best you, it's exhausting, sometimes I wanna make something just for the sake of making something. Obviously that changes when you have a million eyes on you, but you know what, fuck that pressure too. I love you all for supporting me, but I always wanna be 13 year old Ren, who makes music cause he loves too, not because he wants to impress, not because he wants to be the best, but because music for me is the best thing in the world.”

Wow thank you for sharing. I actually somewhat feel some of what Ren is saying. I've always done reactions for myself, because, 85% of my videos get copyrighted which means I don't make a dime.
I've recorded some reactions which I wasn't proud of, where I knew I didn't point out a specific bar, or didn't say my thoughts correctly, or didn't have enough energy, etc. But I still posted a few to my channel. Idk why, maybe because I thought the artist was cool even though my reaction wasn't?
Actually, one of those videos that I wasn't proud of was my reaction to Rens Trilogy (Tales of Jenny n Screech). I uploaded that video expecting it to get minimal views and no viewer retention. It somehow ended up being my second most viewed video on my whole channel. I missed so much on that reaction. I was tired and low energy from a long day at work and filming like 6 other reactions beforehand. But I posted it because I thought Ren was insanely great with his performance and writing. And although the video itself was maybe 60% of what I could have made it to be, I still enjoyed making it and going through that experience.
So I do get what he means here. He's not concerned with having every single one of his pieces being immaculate. He's really about having fun and somehow having faith that his fans can appreciate and feel that fun as well, even on his songs that he feels are weaker. That's a great outlook that I hadn't consciously thought of until now. Wow

@@xFayze I think your reactions are great. You really try to get into the mind of the artist and decipher their bars. I assume you know that you can monetize reactions to Ren’s music; I have heard other reactors say that Ren’s team is excellent to work with when videos are copyrighted so definitely reach out to them. I also think the 'patience and pills, a patient patiently waiting for help' line references his song 'Patience' which was used in the film Unrest, about the lack of treatment for people with M.E. At that time he too was waiting for help.
This is definitely my favourite of the recent lyric videos.
As an aside, because my brain is broken, whenever people talk about Eminem slant rhyming, instead of the incredible bars he has this begins playing in my head: ruclips.net/video/Kfl3N9nesRg/видео.htmlsi=6qxBl-Ws99hc5Xy1

I know you love Ren but I really wish you wouldn't keep mentioning Em to talk about Ren's track ! I mean no offense, just sayin'

    • @xFayze
      @xFayze  Год назад +5

Fair enough, I understand the sentiment and I believe it's still important to talk about. Ren has studied Em alot, and he has himself referenced Em in a lot of his tracks, even recent ones like Masochist, or older ones like Losing It. Many of the techniques he uses derive from all the different artists and genres that he has studied. Since I've listened to a decent amount of Em, it just so happens that that's the one I can talk about.
Now... Ren also draws inspiration from punk rock, from metal, from pop singers etc. Since I am not as knowledgeable on those, I don't bring it up as often. I hope you don't take me talking about Em as any form of insult towards Ren's unique artistry, but more as a compliment because Eminem is, at minimum, in the top 5 greatest of all time when it comes to rapping and lyrical prowess. All I'm doing is pointing out how Ren has picked up on such a fantastic skill and using it in his own way.
