I interpreted the "burn the border" as burning the border between those two sides of himself. The music video does an AMAZING job of using colour to further separate the voice we hear in the song "Masochist" with the introverted, insecure voice that Ren probably thought was his "real" self at the time.

The border likely refers to one of two things: 1. Referring to "thinking outside the box". So, burn the border of our thinking. 2. Ren has a song called "Chalk Outlines," where he sings about being a silhouette or shell of himself. So, burning the border could refer to the small part of him that is left.

Border also refers to the "barriers" Lyme disease manages to cross if left too long undiscovered. The blood- brain barrier being one of the last borders where there are meant to be checkpoints and sentries to protect against invasive infectious disease. There are all these physical barriers, and immunological forces. But by the time it's been left long enough to damage the brain is very hard to treat or deal with, or diagnose (I've come too late). And the brain changes can leave you not yourself with hallucinating brain bleeds and fucking Geezers on The Streets feeling possessed and b thinking wait that fit seems like he belongs here he's more British than me, why does it feel like he's from somewhere else?

Guy in the shorts still doesnt know after all the vids of Ren he's seen that Ren wasn't a 'big rapper' when busking and still isnt, really, in terms of people on the street knowing him (except in Brighton or if he neets a bunch of Renegades.) Yes there are now a million and a half of them but this hapoened in the last 18 months and thats all over the world. The average UK person still doesn't know him coz the damn radio stations don't play him. This is all common knowledge - if you were really into him not just piggy backing you'd know that much by now.
