This game is... a masterpiece... Thank you, Larian Studios, for allowing me to make my own f**king movie. I love everything about it. And the voice acting - holy s**t. I am in awe.
It is very unusual for me to edit a video game, as I first of all don't play that often, and secondly games rarely move me the way this game has. If you have seen videos from me before you know that I'm a sucker for characters that break my heart, and well, Astarion did it for me!
(very sorry about the bad frame rate some places. Not a big gamer in a complicated relationship with my computer...)

I don’t think he’s evil, just horribly broken
And the player character is the straw that pushes him to heal, or pushes him to continue the cycle of broken/breaking people.
If you mean Astarion - he is evil by DnD alignment. But he is not actually into power - he only wants power to protect himself. So, if he feels protected he will not use or misuse any power he gets. He is evil - but he is not a mindless monster (like Dark Urge for example).
And he is also a very strong person - after all he has been through he still can be sincere.

He’s cynical more than anything. He prayed to every god he knew of and none of them saved. No heroes saved him either. It’s why he disapproves of heroic thing throughout the game.
@@oyami4444 No, he is chaotic neutral and tav can push him either way. He becomes chaotic evil if he ascends.
I really appreciate that they didn't just make him vampire bad boy that can be fixed if I'm nice to him. He is both a victim and a victimizer. He was forced to do what he did, but he also has contempt for his victims. He calls them foolish and scraps of misery, reminders of his shame. Some people, like Astarion, require a lot of persuasion to do the right thing.
Alot of people think astarion is evil but truth be told. Hes just broken to a point beyond repair. Hes a person that doesn't know how to trust and only knew instincts. He cant remember a time he could make his own choices and people can relate to that be it from the numb feeling that comes of escaping an abuser to trying to recover from all kinds of abuse. He is a buetifully real character that has pain and beuty. He feels real and its why some people like myself love how hes written and designed perfectly because we relate to him. And see him as a sanctuary in a world we cant control.

Still watching this 2-3 times a day, and it plays in the back of my mind when I'm not watching.

This is SUCH a great edit! The only thing that bothers me about it is the framerate; everything else is fantastic. The way you stitched the scenes together, the voice-overs, the music, it's all phenomenal. What an incredible tribute to our favorite vampire boi. ♥ I hope Neil Newbon gets to see this. I'm sure he'd love it. ♥♥♥
Yes, I know, the framerate is annoying me too (I've been waiting for a comment about it😅). My computer did not like recording the game at all, and I am just too lazy to record it all again🥲But thank you so much for your lovely comment ❤ It made my day!❤
@@frklinee You're so welcome! Man it sucks when our computers just don't cooperate the way we want them to. But hey if it helps, the way I've been playing the game, I made individual saves before each cutscene so I could come back and view them again. Maybe you could try that in the future? ;)
I'm kind of hoping you make one of these for each of the origin characters to really examine and display how unique they all are. I mean Astarion is still the best boi, obv, but it'd be nice to have a whole set, y'know?
@@sirennightshade4977 I actually did make individual saves like you, and that is probably what murdered my computer 😅 oh man, that would be a big project! With my free time it would probably take me a couple of years of playthrough 😆 But I really like the idea of that! They are all great and I truly care for them all in a wierd way. This game and voiceover cast is truly something else 🙌

this is a great cover/interpretation of the pixies' song. if you haven't already check out the cover by the band placebo, it's amazing. on the note of songs you might find fitting check out placebo's song 'protege moi' there's an English and french version. they're both stunning.

So your comment really made my day! 🥰 I think Neil Newbon is so right when he talks about the BG3/Astarion community/fans being so generous. I am just blown away from all these nice comments even if the visuals are flawed because of the bad frame rate, but no one seems to really care! I have made other "better" technical videos where I get negative comments if the music is a bit too loud compared to the voice overs, but never on this video! If someone mentions it it's in such a nice way. I am just blown away. Thanks again! 🙏

I had to go clip hunting for some stuff, as I haven't finished the game. But yes, from what I understand you get that cut-scene if you finish the game as Astarion.

@@oyami4444 I did it as a separate save file, then went back to my original save where I ofc defended my man ❤ But you can save him from Godey even if you lose the fight!
