Whenever I hear Blackened, no matter if I'm a sleep or in the shower. I will headbang.
Lol nice profile pitcture
@S34nNotFound Thanks!🔥 🔥
I’m sorry, but the mental image of someone headbanging in their sleep reminds me of the guy in the One video trying to use Morse code to get someone to kill him, and that’s simultaneously one of the most hilarious and most depressing thoughts I’ve had in a while.
I don't even listen to Metallica anymore and this will forever be true. And the drop d chugging in the thing that should not be 😊😎
I used to take a 👕 and pull the sleeve part over my fat head and act like I had long hair. And then I would take my Walkman, my 🎾 and use it as an air 🎸, and play like I'm in concert as MetallicA! I was "James Kirk Hetfield Hammett " that was until my mom took a picture of me with a Polaroid and laughed at me. I had to start doing it at night. But Blackened was one of my favorites lol. How I wish I was a kid again.
The bass riff in Devil's Dance is the best thing ever! Especially how it works with rhythm and lead guitars over it. No wonder James didn't allow Jason to change it
it is not the best thing ever, its stupid as andriy put it
I rearranged Devil's Dance as an instrumental directly from the album. It was mixed which made it a tough cut. I had the riffs and solos cycling around that fat bass and had it end with how the bass began. The song makes a brilliant instrumental.
I strongly encourage all Metallica fans to give a listen to the Overload Mucho-demos for Load and Reload. James shown true passion for his music in these demos, even with the yeah-yeah mumbling. Load and Reload really are great albums, they deserve more recognition.
Compared the the (mostly) crap they’ve given us since then I’d say you are correct on that
@@MrRoundthetwist The 90s were the last time metallica was relevant artistically.
@@Howard_the_Duck 💯
I enjoy the hell out of em'
@@Howard_the_Duck meh, Death Magnetic brought thrash back to the forefront momentarily so thats pretty relevant, but other than that, yea.
I want to mention that I really enjoy Jason's vocal! I saw him singing "Seek&destroy" and it was sooo great!!
So basically every song jason touched is awesome
Love your account pic! 😂😂✊
“Yay”- Robert Trujillo
Kazoo
@7:59 "He as hollow as I alone, A shell of my friend, Just flesh and bone..."
Theres no soul, he sees no love, i shake my fist at skies above... Mad at god 😡
I just love the sound of Load and Reload.
I hope you will make a version of devil's dance based on how you think Jason would have done it.
Note: Where the wild things are was the last song composed by Jason, the Lyrics and vocals are just beautiful, and the way it glued the whole band was awesome, in there you see some good druming by Lars, he even plays the ride for a difference and has some cool fills in it and all backed by the bass, a nice solo on the guitar by Kirk, and the back and forth vocals on the bridge by James and Jason are just amazing... the composing skills of Jason were great, it is sad that at times they sticked to the James/Lars composing combo, to me it seems like they wasted an incredible talent and asset. The Load/Reload Albums were great Rock albums, but I just imagine if they wanted to explore new territories with Jason, Prog, Speed Metal, Groove metal, and topped with Harsh Vocals... yes Jaymz can play bass but that will never replace Jason.
It might have been a financial decision. Rights to the songs are worth money and composers own them initially...
he did the intro (awesome intro though!)
That’s the thing. The reason you see few writing credits from Jason is because as far as contribution’s goes, Jason brought very little that Lars and James would’ve used at that time. Jason’s stuff was apparently mostly like thrash and such because he wanted to kinda go back to that sound with Metallica, but they were in a different head space musically at that time; but then you’ll have the odd ones like My Friend of Misery and Where the Wild Things Are, which are far more musical and out of left field that Metallica picked them Out from Jason’s stuff.
Best metallica song period
@@ramieskola7845 At times i think thats the reason, what bothers me is the fact that Lars and James undermined Jason, wich was the reason he quitted, the guy was a force, they messed up on that part..
Where the Wild Things Are is so underrated. One of my faves from that period though. Vocally too.
I love Rob Trujillo, and even though he wasn't one that everyone accepted at first. He's molded quite nicely with the band. But Jason was such a ball of energy with his stage presence back during the 90's, I mean, really miss that about the band. And yeah they're in their 60's and age takes it's toll. But I believe every MetallicA fan misses Jason even though they accept and appreciate Rob. I'm soo ready to hear the rest of this new album. Have you read the reviews by Rolling Stone and Revolver magazines yet?
Rob is a great musician, but Jason is the one who fits like a glove for Metallica. I'd love to see him as part of Metallica again before they retire.
@@Diegodesarmaysangra I too have that want before they retire. I love this band with all of my love for music. I defend everything they do, and only because they've earned that right. Reason I love these guys so much is because I've been listening to them since I was 8 years old. I'm 4......nevermind, let's just say I'm old enough lol. But I used to tell people when I was in 5th grade and beyond. "These guys will be around when we are 40 and 50 yrs old. And they will be one of the greatest bands of all-time. " and I know that other MetallicA fans used to feel the same way. But to be told that we're full of shit and that they would never last. Maybe it's the fact I'm from Alabama and rednecks rather hear country lol. Though I've turned alot of people onto MetallicA here in good old Bammer. Rob has earned my respect as a member of the band I love. But you're right. Jason fit just perfect.
I mean the thing is that Jason actually had an agressive stage presence that was very akin to what Metallica was at the time, add to that an amazing singing voice and screaming voice and he made Metallica more thrash than before. Rob is an amazing bassist but he's way too chill for that style
@@JustAreru I'm assuming age can have that affect on someone 😏. Not speaking on anything I'm dealing with lol.
Jason was so great I wish we got more of him in Metallica. That's why I love Newsted his band sounds like Metallica should have been making
specially echobrain 😂
I picked up a bass because of Jason. That was 23 years ago. So many questions I would love to ask him.
IMO Jason represents the fans when he was in Metallica. His stage presence is literally how we all react when listening to Metallica. He out stages, headbands every member in Metallica. It’s why he’s my favorite member.
Dear Andriy something to add: in book wrote by Mciver Joel - Metallica Unforgiven, Jason said:
"I just went (with my bass) with James's guitar lines. That kind of bassist I was back day"
So probably they just managed to conjoin guitar and bass for these albums.
wowI didnt't knew all these things about James! nice video, go on Andriy!
Wow I had no idea, great video Andriy!
You take that back about Devil's Dance! That bass riff is awesome
Jasonic basically did to those bass lines what Kirk did to the solos on KEA.
The day will come when Jason joins them onstage again
The opening bass riff in “the god that failed me” BUMPS
Wow, this is interesting information
0:56 You're misunderstanding how songwriting credits work by claiming Jason did not come up with these bass lines. Jason may have said that the King Nothing bassline was written by James. But it does not mean that all the other bass lines you list were written by James. James may have written the songs. But the bassist can still write a unique bassline based on the chords and not get a writing credit - in which case it's definitely the bassist's bassline, even if he was not a credited songwriter.
As for Until It Sleeps' demo, think it was recorded by Jason Newsted. If you see the information on the CD single, it says it was recorded in the Plant Studios, after all the others...
“Once in a discography”
That aged quickly.
James and Jason should start a band..
I recently discovered that half of the time I've ever played the guitar, I've been using his 3 fingers pick grip.
It's the same grip but I keep the pinky differently and I "close" my hand more.
I feel better about my pick grip now, I used to think I was the only one... and that I was doing it "wrong" sometimes😅
I think everyone has their own way of holding the pick, just like Marty Friedman
I love the bass tone James has on Devil's Dance- I think he nailed it. Sometimes less is more.
LOAD + RELOAD forever \m/
Your english has gotten very good, brother. Blessings to you from Texas.❤🎶😊👍
nice video
Jason is the man, enuff said.
I like jason's bass on hero of the day. It's very creative and gives a different vibe to the song.
also, i think jason would nail motorhead vocals
cool
Greatest thumbnail 😂👍
You mean that james is a great musician? Oh i knew that
3:11 I need english subtitles for whatever you are saying here lol
Edit: ohhhh... LOWKEY.... and Load/Reload... I got it lol
ima be honest I love the devils dance intro, it just goes really hard with that PHAT bass, then add that with the guitarts
He also the one who taught Ron McGovney how to play bass .
I read that in the Cure song, Jason did slap and said to James " i just wanna play like Flea play in RHCP" and after James listened that part a 100 times, accepted...
Burton should had a song credit on spit out the bone as the bass solo is pure orion
Holy shit, he actually said Where the Wild Things Are!
There is a version of Blackened with Jzn’s original bass and it shows that AJFA is the best Metallica album.
I think one cool bass line of Metallica, is in The end of the line (in the interlude).
I play King Nothing a Lot
Стосовно рифу з until я не до кінця впевнений, що його автором був Хет, бо ідея пісні родилася з івмпровізації гурту, яку потайки записав Боб Рок. Тож, можливо, автором рифу був Джейсон.
Can't knock Jason, but certainly can't knock James either. The bass lines in Outlaw Torn are just dark, almost has its own pulse to it in a droning way, makes a chilling vibe to the song.
jason was Metallica's powerhouse in that era. I jokingly like to call him "Papa het's li'l pet monster"
2:23 I wonder what bass that is. Looks like a Spector with just a P bass?
Hey bro you ok?
Blackend
6:31 on repeat 🤣
Wasting My Hate, did he write it? Cos it's my favourite to play off Load hah
Then why did not James play bass on St Anger
James wouldnt let him alter the bass lines he made either they had to be played same as James wrote them
Not sure where I saw it but I recall a video of James saying he would turn his back to Jason while playing licks so Jason would come up with his own bass lines, instead of just playing the guitar line on bass.
Always really loved Load / Reload & defend them every chance I get. It is appropriate that the cover art is blood & semen, cause it took balls to release those.
Смешно было с King Nothing
🤘🇺🇦🤘
Metallica lebih hidup dengan adanya jason newsteed
I'll be honest if James bothed to learn better from Jason while making the demos they probably would sound better on the final
Your analysis of Jason and James' bass playing is very accurate. Speaking as someone who was originally a guitarist. Yet now I have been exclusively a bassist the last 3 years. It took a ton work getting my playing ultra clean. Getting rid of that scratchy sound most former guitarist add to the bass. The bass is by far my favorite instrument and I'm still learning to this day how to better play the same songs I learned in the beginning and going forward constantly learning new covers. Between Jason, Cliff, Robert and
Ron Mcgovney (Metallica's original bassist) they all brought their own unique sound to the band. Side note: it goes without saying James is by far the best all around musician in METALLICA. Great guitarist and vocalist. Also his drumming is very good and as a bassist he is very creative with his bass lines.
What I don’t understand is why James and Lars never let anyone contribute. They stole from Dave, Cliff was muted in all their albums and they even stop using all of what cliff shown them since the black, they abused Jason who’s capable of writing riffs as good as James old riffs, and then Rob who legit is their best bass player (because Cliff unfortunately left the band during MOP to play with all the other legends who left us too soon) and all he ever does is play 0000000000000 on the E or A string because why James doesn’t know any other scale.
I understand why he doesn’t let Kirk since he has the solos but the bassist don’t really got much say.
They didn't "steal" from Dave. He co wrote 6 tracks on the first 2 records and he was credited as such. They made Mechanix better and gave it way cooler lyrics. I love both bands but the Dave fanboys who claim Metallica "stole" Dave's music are just beyond ridiculous.
If you think all James does is play open notes you haven't listened to very much Metallica. Your take on this is ridiculous.
something about JASON NEWSTED most don't know
he, in fact, did not record any bass for ... and justice for all
Are you a guitar channel Or a meme channel?
@@joshansharma4244 He makes Metallica what ifs (swapping song albums)
I could sleep well knowing this meme will never dies
In fact, he did. He recorded the bass excellently, Flemming Rasmussen has a rough demo and the originals exist in a vault, just never made it into the master mix.
BUT.... there IS some bass on 'Justice'. There's a bass-isolated version of 'Justice', some songs have quite a bit of bass, others mere snatches, possibly left by accident. Here's the title track, '...and Justice for All' and it has bass

I was half expecting "HE FOCKING LEFT THE BAND.!..HEUGHH"
James even wrote many of kirks solos.
No, he never had any say in the solos. Lars was pretty much Kirk's co-writer for the solos though.
Hmmm the god that failed was a good baseline🤷♂️
James Hetfeild is Metallica.
Metallica is James Hetfeild.
Oh, and Lars is there too.
How to trigger Lars in three lines :P
Damn, you shouldve gotten some sleep
Cool videos bro. No disrespect but when you say your name it kinda sounds like a sneeze. Can you please pronounce your name slowly and clearly once?
James is a musician, make no mistake. I'm not sure what Lars does post Justice, but he is often seen behind the drums for some reason. Kirk tells jokes that nobody laughs at although they are hilarious and Rob slappa da bass. .
Let me make this crystal clear - this is exactly why I love them. And the Lars bit is just a joke OK, don't take it so seriously. He is obviously a great... producer. :)
Lars ain't shit. He thinks his smart. The other guys just put up with him
Proof that Jason wasnt even the best bass player in Metallica...when he was in Metallica.
Fucking one tone pony.
Jason was too perfect to Metallica ( they don´t deserved ) Lar$ and Jame$ the biggest bullies !
Years ago doing the Lulu , Lady gaga and Miley Cyrus ( oh very heavy metal Collaborations 🤣
am i the only person who things that jason is like so incredibly overrated? anyone up for a civil discussion about it?
This band has a bipolar mood with bass ... and mainly with bass player...that's fishy.
Not a fan of those Albums, Looking forward to 72 seasons & will be doing a Review for it.
After the "And Justice" album Metallica turned into halfshittt, after "The Black album", it turned into wholeshittt.
Will you shut up man
Black Album was still Metal and not super slow for most tracks. Load is where they had no identity and completely lost it as a band.
hes back!!! yay!!!! welcome back @Andriy Vasylenko
who was interview was that jason newsted "king nothing" goof?
Damn, brother. I just noticed how much the invasion of your country has affected you physically. I mean no offense, but you look really tired and stressed. I love your content. You're a great dude and a beast on the bass. Hang in there, buddy.
What is stupid about devils dance dude?,
