  • From her German heritage, Eleanor shares the history of this beloved pattern. She demonstrates the versatility of the pattern by color selection to create a totally new look: a wreath to adorn the home for the holidays and a scrappy sunflower quilt to brighten the sewing room.

When I first started quilting, my husband bought me your book of Civil War quilts. I was so excited! Your patterns and methods of putting them together were like magic to me. Quilting has become my stress relief. I've had 2 car accidents that have left me with some challenges that make it hard for me to look down for more than 15 minutes. But a lot of 15 minutes makes a bunch of quilt pieces! Thank you for your inspiration! I'm a fan forever! God Bless!

I have just decided to take the leap into the Dresden world and I must say I felt a lot of trepidation but after seeing your demonstration, well I feel that I can dive right in the deep end and get a block on the go. I just love your cheery attitude. You make the whole thing seem so easy and all the old patterns are a delight. Ta muchly, and Blessings to you, Lovely One from Melbourne, Australia.

Eleanor, you bring so much history to the forefront in your stories, accounts, and in quilting. My Grandmother Quick was one of those who boxed up all of her pink Depression Glass and put it in the attic, but when I was 14 years old, she let my sister and I climb up the dark, old attic stairs into the cavernous storage area full of old piano rolls, victrola records, Edison wax cylinders, and more, and because she told us we could have anything we wanted from up there, I chose the big box full of Depression Glass. It was a Bridge Set, with even ash trays and coasters for the glasses. Grandma was glad to see it go, but for me, it was a treasure! I recently passed it on to my daughter, Christa, who was married this past year, and she cherishes it also and has it displayed in her new house. Ah....and she is a quilter, also, having made 12 quilts by the time she was 21! Just sharing a beloved story about Depression Glass and grandmothers and quilting. I learn so much from you. Thank you for being you, and God bless you and all those you love.

So helpful thank you! My grandmother recently asked if I could finish piecing together a few of her grandmother's unfinished quilts from the 30's, she wants to help them fulfill their purpose and pass on her grandmother's legacy. Her Dresden plates are the only ones not square yet, making them the most challenging. This was the most informative tutorial/quilt-a-long I've found, history and instructions.

I just love these quilts. Your story about your mother-in-law collecting dishes on movie night touched my heart. I have my grandmothers collection. She was able to make up a full set for 12 settings. Its George & Martha Washington with 24k gold trim. What a treasure! Our family also collects depression glass

When ironing on the back, you will get a better press if you placed a fat quarter on top of the place then press because you are protecting the seams from shifting.
