Picked it up instantly, box in pristine condition..👌🏿. No more big box items from Walmart. Second item in a row damaged (pool table). Customer service...👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
They need to do an NFL Blitz machine next or something more obscure, a WWE Royal Rumble arcade machine (the one that was an arcade first, I think and then was ported to the Dreamcast)
Great thoughts-nothing against the earlier entries in the series (NBA JAM and TE), but so far as I’m concerned Hang Time is the clear best, most refined iteration of the 2-on-2 hooping concept. I think all of the love for the earlier games boils down to perceived innovation (many forget that Midway actually dipped its toes in this realm with Arch Rivals years earlier) and the fact that the first couple games were genuinely great games. By the time Hang Time hit the arcades, gaming was changing (3D was shiny new thing) and there was some fatigue around Midway’s many iterations of this concept (remember College Slam? It actually allowed for tip jams!). Even Hang Time itself enjoyed two separate iterations-the standard version and a Maximum version. It’s a shame it gets slept on, but it is a fantastic cap to a fantastic series of games.
You forgot NBA Showtime which I'm sure, not many people remember, but I had it on the Dreamcast and loved every minute of it. It changed up the formula a bit to 3 on 3.
I have 4 Arcade 1 up machines at the Game Store I work at. We charge $2 an hour to play them. They are very popular. Thinking about getting a couple more.
You can do what I did for way cheaper and get a bigger cabinet, get some plywood and a 32inch tv, grab a raspberry pi 3b plus or the new 4 put emulation station on it. And 2 joysticks with buttons whole thing will be about $250

Actually Benoit Benjamin was the other Sonic in the arcade version of NBA Jam, while Detlef Schrempf was in the console ports. Payton didn't appear until Tournament Edition, hence why he was in that game unlike the first.
I love NBA Jam. Played it endlessly on my Super Nintendo. Someday hopefully I can grab up these Arcade 1ups. I'm still hoping for WWF Wrestlefest to be in the planning stages. There's some nostalgia for sure in that one
Wasn't NBA Hangtime the one where the announcer says "Razzle Dazzle" and "Ram-a-Lam-a Ding Dong"? That is my favorite one. I wish I knew who the announcer was. He is phenomenal in MLB Slugfest and NHL Hitz. I always crack up when he says "Noodlebuster".
I just bought two NBA Jams, one with the light up Marquee and light-up buttons, and one with just a light up Marquee. I also got a Miss Pac-Man and a Pac-Man arcade1up machine. I got them at an auction and I got all of them for $560 and they all work fine.

You got me thinking so I had to check. Vince Carter was the last player from the N64/PS1 era. But sadly not any of these games. In terms of still active players best we can do is Tyson Chandler, who just squeaked onto the Dreamcast for 2K2.
I find the 600 really hard to justify. I bought a candy cab imported from Japan for 700. Plugged in a raspberry pi and now I can play any game on an original system. Maybe I’m lucky and that price is really cheap. But still, 600 for a wood cab? Just go on Craigslist and get a secondhand one.

Gary and mj were not included in the NBA jam original. Its one of gaming's great mysteries. Also I love this cabinet. I could see having some friends over for a tournament, get some nice print outs with codes and stuff on them, poster size and frame them like a nice poster. Then imagine some online tournaments with a buddy. I definitely think the online capabilities are genius and I hope its something that grows into a great community, please if you have not do a video featuring online stuff and push the arcade 1up online community! I remember that game almost never came out. The story I heard goes that the NBA didn't what to mixed up Mortal Kombat. Once they told them about the family centers that are owned mainly my cruths, blowing allies and chuck e cheese stores they changed their mind. However form I can remember they did tell midway that the game can only be at places like blowing allies and chuck e cheese stores.
I 100% agree with the nba hangtime love, tbf as a teen I thought hangtime was just an n64 game. It’s still great. The way you feel about hangtime is how I feel about mortal kombat 4, that needs to be in more mk arcade cabinet collections
There are about 3 players per team with substitutions in TE! It would be worth checking to see if the MK2 characters are in TE...NBA asked for them to be removed at the tail end of the game's life in the Arcade.

No disrespect to Arcade1Up, they really bring back memories. But they repeated the players because... they actually sold us rom hacks (eg TE 4.2). That's why we see repeated players for those where they couldn't procure the license. They didn't have a development kit. And I'm only guessing they don't have the people on board to hack newly licensed graphics in....
Jens Boffin No they did not and Code Mystics the developers on this version made this specifically for arcade1up. They are updating this too hopefully it will release soon.

I got my theory from the fact that 4.2 was the last version where they left the Horry Elliott bug in, which we have in arcade1up. At one point the developers said they left it in to stay true. But honestly, there's a simple proof that they just didn't fix it. The Nani edition came after 4.2 and had the bug fixed. Also, a rom hack to repeat portraits is ''easy''. While adding new material is not. If not, they could have added a shadow portrait or get new old school players in. I can imagine some benchwarmers would easily volunteer...
@@jensboffin7225 No argument. I know that they have an upcoming firmware update that fixes Horry and puts them on correct teams. Arcade1up has to approve the update though.
Great Video! I played all of these games when they originally came out and NBA Hangtime got the most hours of game play from me. So thank you for giving that respect to NBA Hangtime I thought I was the only one. I had Hangtime on the N64 and i’m recent years re-purchased it at a retro game store. I like arcade 1ups. I have nba jam and mortal Kombat 2. Me and my kids play them and have fun. I’d like an actual arcade cabinet yes but trying to lift an actual arcade up and down stairs would suck. I’ve had both my 1ups for almost 3 years and they work flawless. Personally can’t tell a difference in look or gameplay.
Missed out on Turtles, and i like NBA Jam, always have but the cab art doesn't vibe with what i'm going for so i'm saving for the X-Men one. Would love all the Beat em Up cabs.
Agreed it’s the best cabinet out. Spending the extra $100 was worth it to me. Doubt we will ever see NBA Jam like this again. I mean it took close to 30 years for a company to bring it back!
Rgt 85love the channel. For the 500$ nba jam it comes with a light up deck and nba jam stool. Not just the deck. I have the 500 dollar one. All said and done anyone is worth it. Peace and stay safe.
The only con I had with this arcade1up game and the other 3 I bought was the labor it took me to put it together, took me 2 days to put together 4 of these games because I kept putting parts the wrong way so I had to take half of it down in order to correct it. I caught 3 on sale at Walmart last January for $179 each but I paid $663 for the nba jam back in 2020 and I'm looking to buy more for my game/theater room.
This was one of my most anticipated cabs yet. I had never played the arcade version of Hangtime (only the N64 version), and I was so used to having a rookie Kobe in the game, so as Lakers born in the 2000s it was kind of disappointing having Divac, Elfrid Campbell and Nick Van Exel but I forgot how good those teams were.

@@ForEternia Yes. The control pad he referred to is commonly called a control deck or just deck on arcade machines. It's actually nice too. It is a line of LEDs that use the clear plastic deck protector to illuminate the deck. Full RGB lights that can be turned off with the press of a button.
The programmer of the game admitted that Detroit would never suffer a last second basket at the buzzer by the Bulls as his little contribution to the bulls pistons rivalry so be sure to use Detroit when you play against the bulls.
I have the Marvel cabinet with riser and I sit on a stool comfortably while I play it, I like the option of standing or sitting where as without a riser you're stuck sitting. Try getting 4 adults with chairs around yours hee hee.
Took me and my brother a minute to figure out that the controller deck lit up different colors. We thought it did than though maybe it didn't, then found that on/off switch under the monitor and it just makes it way sweeter.
I don't give a flip about sports at all but I can play this game all day and all night, if I actually could, it's actually fun, and GREAT replay value!! Luckily an arcade near me has the original now, so I can play it on the weekends, at least.
This looks really well done. Playing online with one of these machines sounds like a fun time. If I had more room, I'd probably get it but for now, I'll be content with my Turtles and Galaga ones. Awesome job with the vid! 👍
I'd love it if the people making TMNT Shredder's Revenge would make a new NBA Jam after that comes out. They made the new Windjammers which shows they have experience with Sports games and I'd love to see a new NBA JAM with modern rosters and nice sprite work.

NBA Hang Time is one of my all time favorite games. I probably put hundreds of hours into the N64 version. This is worth it for that alone.

Agreed it’s the best cabinet out. Spending the extra $100 was worth it to me. Doubt we will ever see NBA Jam like this again. I mean it took close to 30 years for a company to bring it back!

Rgt 85love the channel. For the 500$ nba jam it comes with a light up deck and nba jam stool. Not just the deck. I have the 500 dollar one. All said and done anyone is worth it. Peace and stay safe.
The only con I had with this arcade1up game and the other 3 I bought was the labor it took me to put it together, took me 2 days to put together 4 of these games because I kept putting parts the wrong way so I had to take half of it down in order to correct it. I caught 3 on sale at Walmart last January for $179 each but I paid $663 for the nba jam back in 2020 and I'm looking to buy more for my game/theater room.
i'd love an Arcade1UP Cabinet with Galaga on it but i just wouldn't have the space sadly :(
They make smaller ones that fit on countertops or can be hung on a wall.

This was one of my most anticipated cabs yet. I had never played the arcade version of Hangtime (only the N64 version), and I was so used to having a rookie Kobe in the game, so as Lakers born in the 2000s it was kind of disappointing having Divac, Elfrid Campbell and Nick Van Exel but I forgot how good those teams were.

@@ForEternia Yes. The control pad he referred to is commonly called a control deck or just deck on arcade machines. It's actually nice too. It is a line of LEDs that use the clear plastic deck protector to illuminate the deck. Full RGB lights that can be turned off with the press of a button.

The programmer of the game admitted that Detroit would never suffer a last second basket at the buzzer by the Bulls as his little contribution to the bulls pistons rivalry so be sure to use Detroit when you play against the bulls.
I have the Marvel cabinet with riser and I sit on a stool comfortably while I play it, I like the option of standing or sitting where as without a riser you're stuck sitting. Try getting 4 adults with chairs around yours hee hee.
Nobody talks about NBA Hangtime because it came out as games were moving to 3D so it kind of got forgotten.
Took me and my brother a minute to figure out that the controller deck lit up different colors. We thought it did than though maybe it didn't, then found that on/off switch under the monitor and it just makes it way sweeter.

I don't give a flip about sports at all but I can play this game all day and all night, if I actually could, it's actually fun, and GREAT replay value!! Luckily an arcade near me has the original now, so I can play it on the weekends, at least.
It’s pity the screen is very small , I will stick to playing it on mame on my 65 inch tv .
the best part about the arcade version of this game are the announcer voice clips that were omitted from the console versions:

This looks really well done. Playing online with one of these machines sounds like a fun time. If I had more room, I'd probably get it but for now, I'll be content with my Turtles and Galaga ones. Awesome job with the vid! 👍

They made the new Windjammers which shows they have experience with Sports games and I'd love to see a new NBA JAM with modern rosters and nice sprite work.

No the MK characters were not in the version of ROM they used in this cabinet.
What about that secret 3D tank game when you hold D on joystick, shoot, pass, and turbo on both player 1 and 2? Hold for about 15 seconds I think on the original arcade.
