But if you supplement with judo and a litel of lute ... you can be formidable fighter, (in all the phases and distance of a fight) I say this while I prefer Kickboxing like Thai boxing (power) or French boxing (speed and combo).
But they too exelent scool have their limits and are not efficient alone, it's same for all scool.

The real Karate Shotokan has grappling, takedown and elbows, knees and personal defense, however it had been taken in past, since Funakoshi, cause he wanted to learn the complete art, but the japanese didn´t want that. Why what is trainned today is only a part of the truly karate and part of your complet aspects. Ossu!!

It's funny how a lot of people resist functional karate. Machida has proven what's effective in a real fight.
