- Halloween may be over but it's never too late to take a look at the ridicuous action-horror movie that is Van Helsing!
Van Helsing is property of Universal Pictures - Развлечения
Also the main theme is incredible
Have to disagree on the CGI- again- for the sheer ambition of this movie, it was the best at the time. (For comparaison- Matrix Reloaded’s CGI looks worse, because seen all in daylight).
Van Helsing does the opposite.
I too don't know what he is talking about, especially when it comes to werewolves, they are the best in movies. Especially for that time.
Stephen Sommers and his blockbuster adventures movies are all criminally underrated. No other director (more than Spielberg) has done so much for the adventure genre. Sommers is the king on adventure movies. Too bad he doesn’t work in Hollywood... A genius director.
I'm glad I'm not alone in enjoying it. I personally didn't see it as silly/stupid, I just saw it as a comedy-action-horror. Edit:the Buzzsaws were called "Tojo Blades."
It was so stupid it was good.
@@gilian2587 Yeah it may have been absurd. But I never saw it as stupid. It wasn't a syfy original movie. Now those are stupid movies. I wonder when syfy channel finally goes bankrupt.
@@zionleach3001 imo it was completely stupid; like a Mel Brooks film -- and that was exactly why I liked it.
Don't know what is silly or stupid about this film. It's just a fun action movie with bunch of classic monsters that doesn't take itself too serious and doing what it likes to do I feel like people feel obligated to call this film silly 10 times before admitting to actually liking it and I don't understand why. Just fucking say it. CGI is great for that time too, best werewolves in movies.
Yeah, it is a really weird thing people do. Maybe they're insecure/conscious about how others will perceive their intelligence, should they admit to liking a fun action film. I saw someone comment on The Mummy 1999:
"As stupid and as this film is, and it most certainly is that. I still enjoy eating junk food and watching this guilty pleasure".
Well it's a kids film, and kids (at least I, and everyone in my class did back in the day) love it, therefor it accomplishes what it sets out to do. It'd be like a 40 year old man rating children's clothes. 'I used to love this coat when I was a boy, but trying it on again now, I see how stupid I was wearing it. The jacket doesn't fit properly as it is way too small 3/10'. No shit, it seems that you have out grown it.
4:35 I wouldn't call it a w f u l CGI. Even when watching it now, 2022, I'm never taken out of the film due to the the CGI; perhaps due to the dark lighting of the film, the graphics don't look poor. Plus, it's a kids film (best when you're aged 7-14 years) - show this to any kid of that age and they'll love it, same with The Mummy (1999).
Me too! The werewolf look awesome
i see resident evil 8 took a lot of inspiration from the film
I thought the same thing lol
always enjoyed..very under rated
Criminally underrated movie !!!!
I'd like the prequel story of the battle between Count Dracula and Van Helsing in the past..
Very under rated one really a Master piece
There are way to few reviews on youtube about this movie!
I don't know why people preface their opinions on kids films by saying they're stupid/silly, then reiterate that another 5 times before conceding that they actually like it. Maybe they're insecure/conscious about how others will perceive their intelligence should they admit to liking a fun action film. I saw someone comment this about The Mummy 1999:

To be fair, it is PG-13. Although I did watch it a lot as a kid.
Shreck?? Really?? He's got a Scottish accent not a east London accent....
I feel like people today look too deeply into things and this is just a good time.
I honestly would almost argue that this movie is a good example of a time where it was actually worth it to go to the cinema. This movie did exactly what a lot of movies nowadays seem to forget... Being fun and entertaining. Yes its a dumb and silly ride but a very fun and exciting one with actually a lot of great ideas and wonderfull visuals even with the aged cgi
Love this movie so much dont get how it Flopped
160,000,000 sounds like a lot in anytime !!!
Still the beast vampire and werewolf I’ve ever seen in film. Underworld was pretty good too. But the reboot was cancelled.
YES! Finally someone who understands the beauty of this movie!!!
