95 years old and still making beautiful music. "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing." - George Bernard Shaw Rest in Peact Maestro Greenhouse. Thank you for the mark you left on this earth.
I'm proud to be in a line of cellists taught by this man. One of my cello teacher's 3 professional cello teachers was taught personally by Mr. Greenhouse and his techniques of "doing more with less energy" in terms of moving around the fingerboard will stay with me for as long as I play.
RIP Bernie! Forever thankful to have been in your company, listen to you play in your living room and eat at your table. What an amazing cook! Best pancakes ever :)
Wow , Thank you for sharing the clip . I wish I could see maestro , don't know where he lives . He reminds me so much of maestro Abram Stern on the Violin . May They live well and Long ..
Thanks for posting this (years ago, I know)! Very eloquent playing, as was always the case with him. I am among the many who are blessed to have been his student.
This man inspires me. I'm playing this in my cello lessons at the moment because I can't move on to Grade 6 yet with out Grade 5 theory. No matter how hard I try I can't quite play it like him! But 95?! Wow. Just shows that it's never too late to play an instrument. Rest in peace to such a talented man.
The woman who played the piano, Jou-An, is also a cellist. She's originally from Taiwan. Not sure where she resides now. I knew her when she was in UT Austin for her doctorate degree. She's a pretty good cellist herself. It's good that she had the chance to learn from the great Bernard Greenhouse.
@robertdakelman Actually, Bernie told me that he was born on January 1st, but until his birthday was registered because of the holidays it was already Januarz 3rd. So it was written this way
Mr. Greenhouse at age 95 communicates more expression in each phrase than most could ever dream of at any age. Truly a great artist.

Just amazing, and that cello! I don't understand how people can say that new ones can sound even close to the one Mr. Greenhouse is playing.

Eric Edberg Music notes melted into his body and you are so lucky to have had been his student!
A powerful inspiration his entire life to us all! His recording of the Haydn D Concerto is incredibly virtuosic!

Do a little research on Bernard Greenhouse.
Cute pianist
the cello is slightly out of tune, he misses a few notes, but hell, he's 95, fantastic.
