***** I doubt whether a Pendolino could take those curves at ANY speed. I'm guessing the scale radius would be 40-45 metres-ish, far tighter than it would have to negotiate anywhere on the UK rail system.
I have to say that I love your videos you do but I've just spotted this one as I've just bought a Pedolino and I did a search on RUclips for reference and this video came up and I think that this is probably the best yet - absolutely fantastic, the music sets it off perfectly and the camera work is brilliant - well done in producing such a great video...........Graham
Awesome video, it goes much faster than 140mph design speed of the prototype. I reckon even if you went to the full 9 coach length it could still do that, or at least well over the 125mph it's currently allowed to run at.
Wow what a video ! you've excelled your self Will. Can you do a vid explaining how you set a the speed measuring equipment please.Cheers and merry Christmas.
These would be great. I am a Streak fan [Gresley A4s] and I am sure they can get a very good speed too. Another youtube user got around 126 to 129 out of his model
OK one more thought about 'scale speed'- if you shrank a human being down to HO scale (1/87) and carried that person onto a full sized train, you are telling me that the train would be going 87 times faster for the shrunken human and everyone else would experience 'normal speed'?
Can i ask you, where do you have the power car in your train? I put together a 9 car pendolino set and found it would only run without derailing with the power car at the tail, propelling the other 8 coaches.
Subscribed! Me and my older brother used to have a layout about ten years ago but as we downsized we unfortunately had to sell our collection and dismantle the layout :( Would love to in the future get back into this but for the time being I'll make do with watching your reviews
yup! The maths for it all took ages to be worked out - even some string was used to measure the length of the layout. It really does go at a scale speed of 180mph!
For people who can't be bothered and say its not doing 180mph here: As a special introduction, as well as a Christmas treat, the conservatory layout was transformed into a speed trial testing area. Up first is the Virgin Pendolino from Hornby which managed to achieve an incredible *scale* speed of 180mph Enjoy.
I remember watching this channel when I was a kid but now I’m back 8 years later and I’m 17 years old 🥺🥲💯
Same I used to love watching this as a kid
Me too bruv...
Facts... lmao time flies bro.
Yeh, man I feel old
I used to watch InterCity82 all the time when I was 6 and now I’m 14.
I miss these days so much, might just be my favourite video on RUclips this channel was my childhood
nice to see youve taken propper precautions and applied liberal ammounts of high speed rail fixing compound (blue tack) to your track lol
When I saw this video in my recommended I thought this thing would literally go at 180 mph.
And you were wrong
Edit: you know why because.... because! BECAUSE. I predicted 150
I did
To everyone IT IS A SCALE SPEED
When this model is faster then Amtrak trains
U American
Amtrak trains are slow anyway
Makes you wonder what it would feel like inside the carriages, taking those bends at 180mph!

Crystal Palace station has a really tight curve. The train goes about 20mph tops

Can you redo this and put a dummy on the train track. Test how much impact force you get to see if it can actually kill someone.
