- SEASON 2, EPISODE 8
Let the race bike builds commence!
The VMXdN Foxhill race bikes are wheeling into action this week.
Tommy Searle's VMXdN test bike is almost complete; we await the graphics and a different Talon front hub to finish her. Tommy's bike will be a replica of the Ricky Carmichael Chevy truck bikes from back in the day, with a true prismatic green powder-coated frame and a strengthened swinging arm in true factory style. We have a ride video pending on this one - keep your eyes peeled!
Next up in the workshop, we build Mike Browns VMXdN race bike. The frames are back from the powder coaters. They are in authentic fluorescent green, which made the trip back from the States when I was working with Paul Edmondson - more about that in the episode. Brownie's bike will be a replica of his 2001 championship bike with a flo green front fender, vented front plate and black plastics.
I find building wheels therapeutic and appreciate that they are a bit specialist! Luckily enough, not only do I find it calming, but I also realise I am pretty good at it! In the episode, I guide you on how I put them together as we build Brownies race bike wheels which feature some trick parts, including D.I.D rims, the much loved Michelin Starcross 6 tyre and a Blue Peter moment.
I also reveal why I love the chain going on, what is the last bolt we put in, and why these builds remind me of Ikea wardrobes.
The RC250 (4 years in the making) is done! More on that in another episode - watch this space!

I reckon that’s a dream holiday!

Love the bike builds watching from NEWFOUNDLAND Canada 🇨🇦
I feel better now I've had my fix of amazing bikes and of course WOB, 👊
We do our best!
Highly recommend not forgetting the spacer! 😂 had a buddy of mine build my front wheel, I didn’t check if the spacer was in there just assumed since he worked at a shop. Took my wheel off after a few hours of riding to find my wheel bearings completely crushed🤦🏽♂️
Nice!!
Team Green ALWAYS!
Building wheels is an art. Some wheels have an offset, oddball cross patterns, spokes that have to go in before others or they won’t be going in till you remove the others lol. It is relaxing though.
I like it, it really calms me down
Yes definitely 20min or more and you would have big views in what you're doing. Awesome Rob keep up the good work 👍
Well, 20 minutes is a long video, but we try our best
Bravo 👏 wobs great bike too build we need more programmes like these 👍👍

FACTORY job, old buddy!

Green is good Doc! As the Americans say, lets see your green folding stuff.
Haha they cost us enough to create,
Thats right, player!!!@@
That's a lot of green for a lot of green.
Hopefully Tommy will be full mended and Ed won't have to ride as a concession although Ed is turning into a brilliant second kicker.
Any new faces on the gate this year?
Big fan, small pay, almost too old to ride so these videos mean gobs to we clingers.
Would love to see you guys at Loretta's.... with some trick F.I. parts to drool on.
