    Hi there, I had a question regarding a down jacket I have. The North Face Diablo Down hooded Jacket. I used this for the Kilimanjaro Summit night, I’m wondering if this would be sufficient for island peak in May/October or if I would need to upgrade ?

      We don’t run Island peak trips anymore because the head wall is too dangerous. This jacket could work with the correct layering system. Proper gloves and proper double boots are needed.

    Very good info.
    I'm going December. I'm surprised you guys acclimatise longer than most trekking companies in Nepal.
    It concerns me after listening to your advice.
    I'm doing it in 15 days. Is this too quick?
    Great kit advice. Thank you so much.

      I have climbed Island Peak 24 times and designed the itinerary to optimize success. We have more days for summit attempts, time for 3 training sessions if needed and refreshing up on ladder crossing, and technical training. We also require everyone to come with the technical needed and we also use High camp and fix our own ropes. We like to give our teams the best chance at success.

    Would you recommend taking both the Mendel hiking boots and the larger winter boots or would the Mendels suffice ?

      You absolutely mountaineering boots. I use the La Sportiva G2SM: iantaylortrekking.com/what-are-the-best-mountaineering-boots-on-the-market/ and these are the trekking boots we recommend: iantaylortrekking.com/best-trekking-boots-everest-base-camp-trek/ Are you interested in joining one of our trips?

    Do you think the La sportiva Nepal Cube GTX will do good in september/ october climbing island peak?

    • @IanTaylorTrekking
      @IanTaylorTrekking  2 года назад

      For sure, we have to recommend the double boots for 6,000m peaks.

      @@IanTaylorTrekking but the cube is only a single boot. So you think it will be warm enough?

      @@VERTIKAL394 That is a loaded question and up to you. We recommend a double boots for our trips something similar to the G2SM boot I show in this video.

    How big is the bag in which you pack in?

    • @IanTaylorTrekking
      @IanTaylorTrekking  5 лет назад

      I use 120ltr duffel bag. You can get away with 100ltr if you are really efficient with the gear you are bringing. We provide all mountaineering equipment. Ice Axe, crampons, harness, helmet, figure of 8, jumar, slings, carbinars etc.... so this saves space in your bag. Are you interested in joining one of our teams.
