■ ■ The Story
With ten porters, two guides and a cook, the team of three: George, Alexa and Blanchet starts their epic trek from Yuksam in West Sikkim.
The team head north to Goecha La Pass to see early morning views of Mount Khangchenjunga and, then head west to the border of Nepal or the Singalila Ridge.
From there they head south along the Singali La ridge to see Mount Everest and Mount Khangchenjunga.
On the 13th day, the team reach a remote village at the border of India and Nepal, inhibited by a nomadic yak herder. The film was shot using camera powered by custom made solar chargers, as there was no power facility during the entire trek.
George was affected by Keratoconus, a rare eye disorder which decreases the thickness of cornea and results in a distorted vision, during his childhood. During his teenage years, he lost all his hopes about life as this took him away from what he wanted to do in his life and what he dreamed. George finds that traveling is one of the best medicines for his eyes and end up trekking in the Himalayas to find solace and tranquility.

Awesome video, I was brought here by nofilmschool! Nepal and the Himalayas are topics that I can truly appreciate. I recently did a small documentary-style multimedia project on the region myself.
+BeefJerky4104 thankyou. I would lo watch ur multimedia project.. u from nepal?
+George Thengummoottil I'm not from Nepal, but I am a trekker. In 2002 I made it up to Everest Base Camp and also did the Annapurna pass. If you want to watch my project take a look at nepal.charlesduoto.com. It's about my father who was just trekking in Nepal. The project was done mostly from his POV.
👍👍

Will make more for sure. Thank you
Beautiful! The way the music gels in is magical and the whole edit has an emotional connect! 👌
I wish I could make the videos in this mellow way with patience, rather than the fast cuts I normally do. Great work George! അടിപൊളി! 😀
+Thumping Trips thankyou. Thanks a lot. I really dont think i can make fast cuts.. tried, but was unsuccessfull.
George Thengummoottil well, don't do it. This looks and feels beautiful. I do the fast cuts because I'm lazy to research the music and place a real line of storytelling. 😛
+Thumping Trips thankyou... and thanks for the suggestion.
Hi George !! Great Work Bro....I'm amazed to see your work.. Do you remember we met at Dzongri? I was also there for trekking to Goecha-La...I remember you mentioned about the documentary you shooting for...and now I'm seeing this Documentary :) This is so soothing too!
+Neeraj Kumar thankyou.. yes yes.. i am so happy that you could connect with me. ..

+Nobi Mathew thankyou mr nobi.. good to know that u are from kerala..
sir your residence in wayanad
No, I come to wayanad often, as many of my friends are there..
now where are you living?
+Nobi Mathew i am from kottayam, but live in bangalore
Hi George.... mesmerised, enchanted, intoxicated...!!! Can't express how deeply moved I am to witness such incredibly captured beauty of the Singali la. I was touched by your tale of a weakening eyesight & then deciding that the best medicine was to treat your eyes to the most beautiful things. I went trekking in a nearby region in 2014 & it was a dream come true. Unfortunately, like you, my eyesight has become crippled & I have developed problems with one foot. These sights beckon me so badly but I wonder if I will ever be able to walk those mountains trails & obscure paths ever again... Your video shooting is just divine! I wish I could do even 1/10th of that. Did you travel there all by yourself? Going back anytime again?
Thank you.. where did you go in 2014. Sorry to hear that. We traveled as a team. We were three trekkers and more than 14 people,,to carry rations and stuff.. one of the trekkers was a doctor from canada who was 65, it was hard for him, but he could do it.
Oh! Wow! 65! I think that's enuf inspiration for me to hit it again. I went on trek from Maneybhanjang to Sandakhphu through Chitre, Tumling, Kalipokhri.. Unfortunately family and aged members couldn't walk beyond a certain point and we were forced to go by vehicle for the later part. We trekked back from Sandakhphu to Srikhola through SIngalila Reserve forest. If possible, I'd love to join you should you have any such plans in the future and wouldn't mind me joining :)
Okey. I will let you know once anything comes by. I havnt trekked in that area though. I trekked from north to singalila
It will be a dram come true if I could do that! Not necessarily the very same place as log as its the mountains with lots of greenery
Good
So divine, serene and beautiful ....btw which was that lake with crystal clear blue water?
Lampokhari lake
Thanks George I just wish students take up challenges and adventurous treks and get to understand the simplicity and joys of the people of the hills.
I always made it a part of my teaching career to take school students every year on treks to expose them to the greater aspects and challenges of life. I've taken students on the Zongri and HMI Kanchanjunga base came twice.
That is good to know. Its good effort . Its important to understand and experience the forces of nature.
So where do you teach...
@@Moundain Long retired as a Principal I would take senior classes out and kinda made it compulsory for the school to go at least once a year on an adventure.
Okkk
Where do I get a teacher like uuu??!!!
amazing sir..
Thank you
What equipments did you use to film this? And by far the most visually pleasing filming of this trek i've seen. A few of us are also going next year and being a photography enthusiast i want to do the same. Any tips would be helpful. Thanks.
Thanks for the compliments, I used a Gopro Hero Black edition and a Canon 500D to film this. We carried huge solar panels with us to charge the cameras.
If you like the film kindly let your friends know about this film and promote it. Thank you.. George
