Kudos! Professional photography and well commentated. I may add that as an youngster of 24 years, in 1982, I too went on the trek from Gangtok to Dzongri la ( called then) with a bunch of friends. We carried our own cooking stove and provisions. No porters! Nowhere near as commercialized as it looks now en route! Still Pristine beauty . Thanks for flooding my memory once again with the beauty and majesty of nature.

Great job George! However, your trek ended at the Sunrise point (also called Viewpoint 1) which is hardly at 4300mts! I believe it is misleading to mention that point as being at 5100mts! Even Viewpoint 2, which is another 2 hours from Viewpoint 1, is at 4800mts and the true Goecha pass (5000 mts) is another half an hour from there!

Goechala pass is also on the route to Kanchanjangha, but its a very difficult route to the summit. So most people choose to climp Kanchanjangha via nepal and there is a base camp on this route.. which is usually called the Kanchanjangha base camp.
