I was lucky enough to meet Jacob during a street photography walk in NYC last year. I had been following PortraPapi for a while and had no idea it was Jacob when I briefly spoke with him. Looking back I wished I couldve had a deeper conversation about his art. This interview fulfilled that desire for me and I really enjoyed hearing about Jacob’s stories. He is such a great storyteller and I will be eagerly supporting his upcoming RUclips channel! Thank you Johnathon, for giving these artists the platform to share their love for their craft
Jakob's online persona translates perfectly to real life. He's such a chill, down-to-earth, and passionate dude, and it shows in the way he captures life. His work definitely convey his esence. Great interview! ✨
I really like these long form interviews you're doing lately. Been following Jakob since I first got into photography. Even if I myself aren't really that much inti landscape photography his work has always spoken to me in some way. I really like his approach of catching a feeling over the perfect composed photo. That's something that resonates with me and he is doing that very well.
This is a great interview! Jakob's passion for the craft and his life radiates through everything he says. It's this passion and the way he speaks about photography that gets me pumped to go out and do the dang thing! Keep killing it Porta Papi!
What an incredible interview. Everything Jakob says resonates so hard and his philosophy for life and art just hits. Grateful for the work yall do and for showing us a better way to see and enjoy life ✨
Loved the interview. I really admire the strength to do things like this. Only one thing though... When he says that documentary photography is dying or is boring... Have you seen this year's World press photo winners? These projects are incredible.
He does awesome work, but if you’re going to choose a Frank Lloyd Wright building as the location, especially one that you’ve photographed countless times, at least get the name of the building and architect correct. #marincountyciviccenter #frankllyodwright
Huge thank you to @portra_papi for being on! Go check out his work! Also who would you all like to see me interview next?! Comment down below 👇🏼
Truly appreciate the opportunity to do this. Been watching you since I picked up a film camera

The passion is there, but so often fear overshadows.

It’s the MARIN Civic Center by Frank Lloyd WRIGHT.
you need to interview nasnixx!!
🔥🔥🔥
I always thought Jakob was the guy in his profile pic. This kinda ruins the myth for me 😮
"Papi" = "Daddy" in Spanish
Trivia: The 1997 scifi movie Gattaca was partially filmed in the Marin Civic Center.

Legendary? Don't even know who he is.
Oh, you mean insta-famous? Yeah, that's not a legend.
Portra papi might be the lamest username of all time
Kinda wild coming from someone whose username is "eatenbyopium" 😬
100% Hater . So what do you do that makes you so cool? Flap your lips behind a screen. Its obvious you have NO TALENT .
True
I see you had nothing else to say .
these guys care so much about their instagrams 🙄
Yay Area! Should out to @porta_papi
