    Thank you so much for breaking these down!! I never got a pediatric Level II fieldwork, and I was limited in pediatric assessments during my Capstone. Trying to understand the information from the book just felt like shoving words into my head. This helps a lot!!

    You probably won't read this, but thank you so much for doing these videos. The way that you are so down to earth and personal while explaining the information helps me to remember it and I laugh while I learn which makes the learning fun. I have retained so much just by listening to you and your videos talking about preparing for the NBCOT helps relieve some of the stress. Thank you again, Miri!!!!!!!

Messages like yours truly give me the motivation and fuel to keep making these videos and they make all my efforts worthwhile and meaningful. Thank you for a great method to memorize each pediatric assessment you mentioned in the video. I would love to know if you have another video on presentation of assessments such as The Peabody and Beery VMI which are most common in Miami. I take my OT boards in October 2018. Thank You OTMiri

      Hi Maria, thank you for being here and sharing your OT journey with me. I currently don't have any videos that go over the actual presentation/demonstration of pediatric assessments. But that's a great idea for future videos! I'm currently taking a short break due to my high risk pregnancy and haven't been as active on this channel, but I can't wait to come back full force and add some of the pediatric assessment videos- maybe I can even demonstrate some of these with my own baby!

    Please tell me that you're planning to become a program instructor if you aren't already because your structure and organization are absolutely wonderful. I take the exam (COTA) Thursday and as a heavily auditory learner, found it extremely challenging to not feel overwhelmed trying to refresh just using reference materials from college. Thank you endlessly for your time and energy it is very much appreciated.

      Aubrey, thank you!! I really appreciate your feedback and generous compliments! I'm not an instructor and haven't really considered it, but I discovered my passion for teaching and connecting with the OT community. I started the channel without any expectations other than to help others who may have struggled like me, and it has truly grown into a beautiful, supportive and empowering community. I am enriched EVERY day because of people like you, who come back to share their heart and journey with me. We are brought together through a shared passion and that makes our connection so special and meaningful to me. Thank you, Aubrey!!

    Hi Miri, I have been watching your videos and they have been very helpful. I just want to say thank you!!!! I needed some visualization to take a break from all the reading lol. I take my exam the beginning of October so I have been looking for ways to study. I was looking at the pediatrics videos and I am not sure if you have any videos on grasps (e.g radial- palmer grasp, 3 jaw chuck etc), developmental milestone reflexes .(e.g rooting, prone to supine and age). It would be helpful to have a video on theses topics especially the reflexes, I have a hard time remembering them. Thank you!

      Hi Eunice! Thank you for leaving a comment and sharing your feedback. So happy to know these videos are helpful and providing you a break from reading. I am currently doing a series on the milestones and am working hard to get to them whenever I can. Stay tuned!

    I also wanted to know where on your FB page I can find the notes for your videos. Congratulations on your recent achievement!! 🎉🎈I think you may be the first person I've come across here that is not a student or recent graduates preparing for the NBCOT. If you don't mind me asking, how did you come across my channel? This is a new project for me in an uncharted territory and I'm always curious how people hear/find out about this channel...

    • @healthtechrenaissance4868
      @healthtechrenaissance4868 7 лет назад +1

      I was looking at OT assessments and your channel came up in the playlist. Plus I enjoy watching teaching channels because it provides me with a fresh perspective after practicing for so many years. I am considering doing a channel at some point but finding the time is a real challenge. Then I come across channels like yours and think to myself "Why reinvent the wheel?" LOL

    • @MiriLee
      @MiriLee  7 лет назад +1

      It'd be wonderful to have more OTs and OTAs representing our profession through various online mediums. But I agree- finding the time to do this is my biggest challenge and the issue of sustainability is always at the forefront as this is not something I can do as my "job." But, I can tell you that it's been one of the most rewarding, creative and meaningful endeavors and one that money cannot buy.

    Can you explain more about how HELP is a curriculum reference test? Maybe I got overwhelmed by all these ped's assessments, but I'm confused with the curriculum part. You explained that HELP is an assessment that is done in the child's natural environment, typically in the child's home. So does curriculum mean school?
    I'm horrible with the ped's stuff. And knowing the age ranges. That tripped me up in the boards, when given an age of a child and trying to figure out which assessment is appropriate. Thanks for your tips though. I think I will have to work on memorizing the age ranges.

    • @MiriLee
      @MiriLee  6 лет назад +2

      HELP is a curriculum referenced test because it helps measure developmental progress in essential domains and school readiness goals. HELP is also a criterion referenced test because it gathers information on the performance of specific tasks and provides a focus for specific intervention objectives. I hope that helps!

    • @MiriLee
      @MiriLee  6 лет назад +3

      Also, it's helpful to understand the difference between norm-referenced versus criterion-referenced measures. Norm-referenced measures are based on norms of a sample and the child's score is compared with the scores of the normative sample (compared with the peers). This is often used to determine eligibility for services in public school settings. Criterion-referenced measures are designed to obtain information on children's functional tasks and to understand what the child can and cannot do, rather than to compare the child's performance with his/her peers. Have a great weekend, Jennifer!!
