    Beautiful tank and good information about how to leave your tank when on vacation! Thanks for the share!

  • @atfinthehouse8631
    @atfinthehouse8631 5 лет назад +2

    You can piggyback a second container with a smart micro ato to fill the first one from the second one. Doubles or more your volume for rodi.

      Good Idea, but for now the 16 gallons is lasting me 2 weeks but I'll think of it if I need to go longer than that.

    Love the shark!!! I'll be picking up one of those tanks when they're available! So, what do you think? Happy with it?

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  4 года назад +1

      Tank is awesome. Stand is kind of annoying. Overflow is OK. Next time I will shop around some more. I want something not as deep. Perhaps not as tall. It is very difficult to work on. Sump has a ton of room once you remove the ATO container.

    • @keithstie
      @keithstie 4 года назад

      Yea, it's going between two rooms, one side is about 8" higher, do if I get the table out of the way, that's a good height to work on, but I'll need a stool for the main side. Going with the Tunze ATO and sapphire 10 gal reservoir. 🤞🏻

    What brand of auto-feeder did you use when you were away? I am going to be gone for 2 weeks and to be honest, I'm a little worried about being gone so long. I also have a bamboo cat shark I need to figure out how to feed while I am away. Any thoughts on that?

    Awesome tank growth. What would you recommend for a good salt water tank to start. Size? Coral types?

  • @MrLOLYouTube
    @MrLOLYouTube 5 лет назад

    I am just 16 years old, I am really excited about fish. Don’t know too much, but when I grow up and have some knowledge about the fish. I do want to get some fish like you have.

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  5 лет назад

      Keep learning! You can do it. If you want to start in saltwater, start with a clownfish pair in a 20-40 gallon all in one tank. Innovative Marine makes some good ones.

    Fun fact: Sharks have urea in their blood to help them maintain osmotic pressure. They excrete excess urea through their skin since they have no urinary tract. Other fish remove excess salt through urine and salt glands.

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  5 лет назад

      This is an awesome fact! It seems like they do have kidneys and a small urinary track but most ends up going out their skin to maintain equilibrium. Pretty Cool!

      White Box Thanks! It is a Blue hamlet. A great fish to get the grouper like looks in a small package. They may bother ornamental shrimp but otherwise are pretty reef friendly.

    Hi there, I just bought the same ATO water tank you recommended because it’s the perfect size for me.. but then I realized, how do you fill it? Funnel or something? Seems like the one potential drawback. Thought of it right after I hit “purchase now” lol

    • @PuffDaddyReef

      Hey, I guess we mostly all use 25l containers to bring RO water into the house so I brought a 12v caravan water pump that fits in the normal hole of the 25l container and a 240v/12v converter and pump the RO water into my RO tank. Super easy! Just an idea :)

    • @GuruNick
      @GuruNick 4 года назад

      @@simonhedderwick4516 Thanks for the tip, I might rig something up like that to make the transfer easier. To date I've just been using a funnel, and it works... though can def be better :). Still love having a huge external ATO res.

    Very nice tank!
    The white spots are probably from lowering the temperature in the tank. I know that ich can show itself due to temperature drops in freshwater aquariums, so the temperature drop may be the culprit. I'm new to reef tanking and I've never experienced ich yet (knock on wood) and this might not be ich but I do know that temperature fluctuations -- especially lower -- can cause things of this nature.
    Happy Reefing!

    nice corals. the support is ok but when u jump or walk heavy next to ur tank I bet the water vibrates. with time ur support beam will sage and ur land lord might not like it plus u risk messing up the apartment and ur ppl under u if it leaks or breaks. make sure ur tank is running across several beams and is against an out side wall not interior walls.

      @PuffDaddyReef  5 лет назад

      But actually, mostly because it is easier to clean and grab uneaten chunks of food. Pretty helpful with the shark. And I can just run the pumps at full blast once in a while to suspend the detritus in the water until the filter socks take it all out. It does limit me from some cool fish that need sand like wrasses and shrimp gobies.
