    Hey bud, fallen in love with your channel and Napoleon! I’m only new to aquariums and never done salt water but what you have achieved is where I’d love to be in a couple years. Any advice for a newly starting salt water aquarist? I currently have a 180L (3’x 1.5’x 2’ high) tank, what would you suggest for a nursery tank?

    Question: for tank size for an Epaulette can you trade in height for width? For example instead of doing 96x30x24 and do 96x36x18?

    How did you keep the hamlet from eating your fish? Do you feed heavily to keep it happy. I’m interested in how you keep a predator in a reef environment.

    One question, is the bio load as big as people say?

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  3 года назад +3

      It’s big but not unmanageable. The stabilize their internal salinity by secreting urea through the skin. So it is like a steady ammonia drip. The problem is people get one and then add other big stuff in there with it. That is why I prefer small fish as tank mates.

    One other question. Do you think I could keep marbled, bamboo and epaulettes together in a large enough reef aquarium.
    I’m planning out future tanks and I want to know how far I can go.

    • @aquaticmaniac8979
      @aquaticmaniac8979 3 года назад

      From seeing Public Aquariums, I would say yes (Don't trust me on this, I just see PAs do it) they have different Cat Sharks, Carpet Sharks, Etc in Huge Touch pools together

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  3 года назад +1

      If it is large enough. Those species are compatible. The bio load stacks up quick though. A breeding pair of eppies would be really cool.

    What is your opinion on flasher and fairy wrasse as tank mates with an Epaulette?

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  3 года назад

      I would avoid it. Wrasses sleep in the sand at night and these guys like to sift through sand with their nose. It would be pretty tempting for the shark.

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  3 года назад

      Some wrasses sleep in rockwork, those would probably probably be fine. My 6 line always slept in the rocks.

  • @philipgentile4769

    Pretty sure you are not suppose to keep sharks in a tank with corners. Reason is bc they can hemorrhage their snout due to running into the corners. You need a race track or round style tank.

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  3 года назад

      Benthic sharks like epaulettes are an exception as I discussed in the video. I didn’t bring up the nose issue but that also does not apply to this species.They have no problem turning corners and actually use their snout to dig in sand and push over rocks.

      No, maybe a small shark such as a coral cat shark or Bali catshark for a year or 2 but then you would need to upgrade to a 180 gallon. I am thinking of getting a pool as it would be easier
