Thank you I love y'all
Thank you everyone for watching!
Also, « time to master » means the time of practice from the memorizing to the recording.
I made this video before album 4 which is coming soon and I can't wait!
I bought all the tabs and backing tracks I could on Polyphia's official website. polyphia.com/
Here is their RUclips channel: @Polyphia @TimHensonW6RST
Yes I need a new camera but I get 0$ from these videos sooo..
I also played death note in standard 7 because I hate down tuning my Floyd rose.
That video was extremely challenging to make and took around 7 months of practice.
All the riffs are playthroughs of my audio recordings to make sure my audio quality is as high as possible.

Also, I really like that you showed mistakes. Makes it feel more raw and human haha. keep in mind that Tim doesn't even play these riffs perfect live. Youre a really talented guitarist to even be able to hit 90% of the notes
Yeah right, tim is so amazing and I love him and his music so much but i’m trying to show to the world that no one is perfect and some of these riffs are almost impossible to play perfectly. I don’t have any shame in making some normal mistakes and I want to show to the world that it’s normal!
Tim is probably in my top 3 favorite guitarists for that reason too, I like that he doesn’t care about making some mistakes because it’s normal, that guy is a legend✌️
@@hubertdrapeau him and ichika into are the best
@@ZA-di2pb You forgot about Manuel Gardner Fernandes))))
@@hubertdrapeau Yeah I really feel you are human like me. not a god level ,I felt that I’m sucker at guitar while watching them hahaha
"It's a repeating pattern so you get used to it quickly"
Time to master: 20h
Ahahahahah yeah, it felt fast to me
20 hours isn't much. That's actually impressive!
This kid clearly doesnt know what hes sayin

@@loupcordeille-bougault3474 He replied to the creator of this comment thread, not the creator of the video. He’s not hating
Guitarists are truly masochist. The fact that we would spend so many hours to learn just 10 seconds of music, yet for us is the most satisfying feeling
Yeah right, I’m like sitting for hours practicing a single lick
Summed it up perfectly
I alway chill on youtube or watch anime while practicing
Violinists are truly masochist...
Tried playing my first Polyphia riff (40 Oz) for 2 weeks to master it. After that, GOAT was easy, but that was so masochist
You say as a metal guitarist you’re not used to playing Tim’s stuff, but I think that probably applies to 99% of guitarists even if they’re good. That being said you went far beyond the average guitarist
Thanks man that’s really appreciated✌️
Haha! I’m the 1%. I’ve only been playing guitar for almost 3.5 years now and I started right out with this weird guitar music but I tell you what I’ve gotten so freaking good because I started out with it. I love this before he started playing and I slowly got really good at this kind of music
@@baberhamlinkon9738 I started out with Megadeth and Metallica rhythm (I'd like to think I'm a pretty solid rhythm player for that kind of stuff) but this stuff is so foreign to me so I'm a bit nervous lol. Can't wait to get a strat so I can get back to trying this and some Chon stuff 🙏🏽
@@AlmostLakai94 same. Started with Metallica black album and then got dropped into the first 4 megadeth albums. Exodus, Testament, slayer, etc. And none of it prepares you for this. To be honest it's easier to learn some Jimi hendrix songs. Which is a good start to getting these chord then riff runs down. I'm a huge children of bodom fan and playing some of this polyphia feels like a "Children of Hendrix" style.
i used to play classical guitar and it help a lot with his hybrid pick. but their song still pretty hard ngl
I actually got accepted to uni by plaing "The worst" and wrote my own solo after the main riffs, good shit
Keep it up dude!
Yo i’m so happy for you man good job✌️✌️
Epic
Post it on your channel, I beg you!
What? This is a thing?
@banana it was the University of Westminster, and tbh I dropped out and going somewhere else rn lol
When I first learned GOAT, it was like hell. Now that I‘ve learned (and also failed at) some other Polyphia/Tim stuff, I‘ve gotta say that GOAT is actually not that hard compared to most of the other stuff
I would agree. I’ve learned most of the riffs played in this video. GOAT is the only one I can play cleanly most the time. (Cleanly meaning 95% of the notes) And saucy for some reason. I’ve practiced the Jared Dines riff more than any by far and it is insane.
I tried to learn GOAT for the first time and I get desperate. After that i learned 40 oz, after mastering it, learning the main riff of GOAT was so easy, now i'm learning Goose and is so easy and fun to play
True playing god is harder
Yeah same goat got me into electric guitar (previously acoustic player). Was hard for a bit then I tried polyphias other stuff and gotta say it's way easier than some of their other stuff
Can relate
Seeing you play these makes me realize how batshit insane it is that Tim and Scott write this shit and then go "oh cool, no problem we can just play this live every night"....
Yeah man I just can’t comprehend ahahahah
I think that it's kind of easy for the composers to memorise their ownpieces, here it's the same thing like with poems: it's insanely hard for a student to learn a poem by heart and perform it with a proper intonation, whilst the artist has all this stuff in his brain already when he tells his poems, it's like walking through the maze you composed yourself xD

@@hubertdrapeau dude, u literally played 10 polyphia riffs on guitar, which i was only able to play in OSU!
Worst comment of 2021
@@tjgadner8896 very self-critical of you
@@owley eh?
Why am I not surprised the most difficult riff here was played by Ichika?
It isn’t actually close to the hardest riff trust me, not even top ten. It’s just a bit tough for him since he’s a more metal guitar and that genre is exactly the opposite
@@finnjohnson21 yeah like what about ego death lol
Crazy how background really affects how difficult some songs are for us. I come from a more classical/fingerstyle background of playing guitar, and this list was almost completely reversed for me. Death Note especially was considerably easier for me to learn as it just felt naturally comfortable, but most of the songs in the first half of this list seem like they would be a nightmare for me to even start. Great video!
Thanks man! That’s so interesting to see how people are different✌️
Coming soon, 10 hardest Jason Richardson's riffs ?
😂
If this one took 7 months to make, that one would take 6 years?😂 You guys are trying to kill me or what?🥲

As I already mentioned, you're an example! Hats off to you for all the time and effort you put into this video!🤘😁
Thanks a lot✌️✌️✌️
After 10 months of playing guitar and learning GOAT and 40oz, I'm glad that I wasn't alone in getting every harmonic clear in GOAT and 40oz's sweep picking part(which he recorded doing alternate picking?!). Super useful to know your take on them relative to his other pieces, thanks for the inspo!
That was the most challenging video I ever attempted to make and even if the riffs are not perfect, it’s human to do mistakes and I’m really happy with it. Also, with the « time to master » thing. What I wanted to mean is « time to learn the riff properly enough to record it » and the first word that came to my mind was « master ». My main language is french so sometimes I have a hard time expressing myself in english✌️.
Thanks for supporting me guys and don't forget to like and subscribe!
Animals as leaders or Jason Richardson would be lit
MY dude, you killed it! I am super happy to see Ichika's riff here too. I feel like Death Note is the most underrated track on the New Levels New Devils album.
@@uk5679 yeah right!
Want a harder challenge. Top 10 hardest berried alive riffs.
You did a pretty good job tho, no worries 👌
"Techniques: math rock, actually" that made me laugh.
Ahahahah😂
so awesome! thanks so much for posting, i'm getting into learning a couple polyphia songs to better grasp certain techniques and this was a great map for what to expect/which songs to tackle.
That was crazy. These impossible and hardest riffs videos are simply amazing. I love how you put the "time to master" on each one.
What about an Hardest CHON riffs video?
Greetings from Brasil.
I could definitely take a look at this✌️ Thanks mate that’s appreciated
This is really good man, and totally agree with you on the worst. Easy to learn the notes but takes a lot of practice to play at full speed.
Yeah right, thanks man✌️
Wow man, nice craftsmanship! 100% spot on with the shed collab being the best lick in the arsenal. You killed it! Cheers
These are some insane riffs, and some of my favorites, we'll done bro, keep jammin'
Super dope !! I can't wait to see your attempt at the new album riffs
Good job on The Worst. The intro riff is really hard to get down smooth, I've been playing it as a warm-up riff for years and it still doesn't sound like Tim Henson. The other solo riff in the song is pretty hard, too. Haven't practiced that one nearly as much.
Thanks man i was feeling a little discouraged after trying to increase my speed on the 40 oz intro for so long i guess its nice having someone acknowledge its hard good job sticking with it
Rhythm 9/10
Clean play 10/10
Smooth finger 10/10
Time to practice 10/10
Tone 3/10
I’m 100% with you on the tone and I would give myself maybe 7 on the rest✌️ I just don’t really know how to make a good clean sound tbh, can you help me?
@@hubertdrapeau lmao i didnt know man cuz i'm a classical guitarist. Btw i like your vid about you playing bloody hard riff etc, its entertaining watching some dude learning some hard shit to play and actually manage to play it
@@1ust367 ho thanks man✌️ it’s just that making a good tone is so much harder than it seems. Sometimes it seems to be good but it’s actually not, sometimes it feels bad but it’s actually good, anyway ahahah
@@hubertdrapeau yo I'd love to help if you're still interested
Yeah man that would be great
Love that you put the time to master in it. I've been learning some shit and I'm on like hour 20 and I feel like other learn it so much faster.
Bro I know that now it may seem like it's not worth it for 13k subs, but when someone is as talented as you and so young, there's just no way ur not gonna blow up sometime soon
Thanks man that’s really appreciated✌️
Liked the bonus track, nice touch and of course I’m always here for GOAT. 😂. Great job!
fire video, every aspect of it is great
Keep making shredding video man
Love your tecnique
Dude you’re an amazing guitarist. It blows my mind how much time and effort you put into this video. I can’t believe that this music isn’t even your core style. You, my friend are one talented musician. Awesome playing Hubert.
Cheers Paul
Thank you so much dude that’s really appreciated! Like anything, it’s all about keeping the focus and the dedication✌️
he is not an amazing guitarist dude ahhaahahhaahahah
Not gonna lie, Tim makes it all look so easy and you killed this. These are insane riffs, keep it up man. Kudos sincerely.
You are incredible, This is an insane video. You're actually taking the steps many guitarists dream of. You and I both have a ton of respect for Tim, but jesus this reveals some of the insanity he has. You've worked your ass off and it shows. Thank you for making this video. Hopefully one day Tim may carry us all with his ascendant form to the next heightening.
Yo thanks man that’s really appreciated✌️ I hope one day I will create stuff people will listen to like tin does✌️
Fucking amazing, dude. I think Polyphia has improved more than any other band (that I care about) in the past decade.
Yeah right, they are amazing writers, I don’t think any other band will be able to write creative stuff like that.
@@Bacardi_shake Ill take a look at this man thanks!!

Dude!! This is amazing!! You're rare talented guitarrist here in RUclips!! Congrats!!!
Thanks man that’s really appreciated!
Bro, Ive been working my way through all my fav polyphia riffs, youre an inspiration. So far James Franco has been the hardest, with richardsons solo in nasty right behind it
Thanks man! I didn’t even know james franco and the nasty solo is also crazy! I played aviator in the past
Hell yeah man it's awesome to see another one of these videos from you, it's funny because I started learning some of these riffs because of you playing them and now I'm almost at your level on the ones I learned and it's still funny to me that you find saucy so hard compared to some others when the worst for me is OD
Yeah right, for me playing fast is not a problem, what I find hard is stretchy chords and harmonics mixed with everything✌️
Amazing job as always. You inspire me a lot. I am still not at the level to even try learning their riffs but i'll get there some day
For sure you will man there is no doubt!✌️
@@hubertdrapeau thank you! I'll keep practicing!
You’re already obviously skilled but I feel like a year from now, you’ll be able to play stuff like this perfectly. So much practice time! Well done
Yeah right! I hope so ahahah
love the raw playing, it really shows the difficulty of these riffs when someone so clearly insane on the guitar still doesn't make it look easy
Thanks man yeah I wanted it to be as raw as possible
Bruh this is so good!! You need to make an updated video again
Good shit Hubert, very dedicated!
Thanks!! A little bit too much I think ahahah

Since I've seen the video I haven't seen anyone else alt pick that part. And she sits there leaned back just jamming it out.
What I love about this is although it’s not perfect it’s damn good enough that you can post these and be like yeah I did that I really took the time and learned it of course cleaning it up is the goal and making them sound “perfect” but I think it embodies playing and learning something difficult really well, extremely well done hope to play all of these myself so far I can only do the worst, goat and saucy. O.D is next keep up the good work man
Yeah right thanks man!✌️ I don’t understand how I can possibly play then better than that though, they are so difficult ahah..

Yeah right ahahahah thanks man✌️
I had a feeling the bonus riff was going to be the shred collab one. God it's so infectious.
It’s just too good😂
its a nice change of pace seeing someone be honest about how long it takes them to learn a hook from a song or a riff; i feel like a lot of people on youtube are keen to say that they knocked out O.Ds main riff in 30 minutes or learnt the sweeps in 40oz in an hour, its discouraging to hear that for an intermediate player.
Yeah right, I wanna show to people that it’s hard for everyone! Jason Richardson inspired me a lot for that, he says himself that he literally practice licks for weeks to get them right✌️
@@hubertdrapeau gotta lot of respect for you man! much love

Great video! Your playing is really really solid, the only thing that I would say needs work is the tone. Tim has a plug-in out, which admitaddly wasn't out when you recorded this, but it contains most of the tones him and Scott use.
Yeah I thought about making the whole video over when it came out but, it took so much effort that I just dealt with it ahah
It's just fun and great to watch! Plus it makes you either wanna pick up the guitar or keep you from doing so.

The hardest thing I see people having problems with in youtube is playing with a metronome. This in the other hand was very good and accurate

It's fun to have your point of view because I master just 3 of those riffs : Goat, Saucy (Main Riff) and the bonus one JDBSC and for me Saucy is the easiest, then Goat, then the JDBSC which is really hard for me (sweep toooo fast). It's funny to see the differences with your point of view ahah. Well done anyway for all thos great riffs, Polyphia is life !

You should try the riff he created with NoTust, or the part he played in Jason’s Upside down
