3DS version has better physics and momentum which makes controls and parkour so much better, but worse level design due to overabundance of gimmicks. If only the two versions could mix and match, it might genuinely be a good Sonic game.
Take out the bad gimmick areas of Lost World 3DS and zoom out the 2D sections' camera (like it already does when you use the Drill Wisp) and boom, pretty good Sonic game there.

Honestly the best part of Sonic Lost World for 3ds is the addition of an unlock able hard mode, I don't know the stages in this hard mode just clicked with me more than the normal mode, maybe it's the fact you know what to expect alongside the unlocking of wisp powers adding to the stages to make them feel fresh. Either way the mode is definatly an interesting addition, I miss the hard modes that actually change the level design of the stage tbh.

I am of the minority that I love Lost World because how well they gave us a Sonic that feels nice to use. The parkour gimmick was so underutilized but was something fun and different for Sonic that I wished they brought it back for Frontiers, especially that game with its open zone exploration. Besides that, I don't like that this was trying to be Mario Galaxy or a Classic Sonic in 3D with Galaxy gimmicks. If that makes sense.
My only complaint is that I feel the story section shouldn't have been a win for either of the games, since I feel compressed cutscenes in the 3ds version wasn't big enough of a difference. Other than that, I loved this video, I subscribed :)
It would be even more fantastic if you had the option to change the controls. Same goes for Zor, the Special Stages, the Drill Wisp, the Quake Wisp and the Lightning Wisp.

I have a love hate relationship with Sonic lost world 3DS as it was my first 3DS game I ever owned A bunch of the levels are genuinely fun to play, but the game would’ve worked better with the levels being shorter and certainly removing enemies like the worm and the turtle tank who both take an eternity to kill (even with all 7 chaos emeralds) And Lost world in my opinion had a not a single fun 2D stage. They were all too long and frustrating But as for the 3D levels had genuine fun parts here and there, but again most of it was too long, and some too gimmicky like you said
Completelly agree with the 2D zones. They are too long and the zoomed-in camera takes out the fun I would have with them. The most inoffensive one being the Frozen Factory one. I like most of the 3D stages. There's only 2 of them that are garbage, Tropical Coast act 3 and Frozen Factory act 1.

Personally, i wouldn't say the 3ds version is superior, but i don't the wii U version is superior either, because pretty much the only reason it has a point for story is because the cutscenes are in higher resolution & other then that, they're equal. So personally i'd say there is not really a superior or inferior version between the 2
If you want a simple experience with stages that last about 2 to 4 minutes, play the Wii U version. If you want a bigger challenge, play the 3DS version. It even has a hard mode.
I didn't like 3DS parkour, it was way to automated and stiff, HD parkour was a bit confusing at first but when you understand it then it feels great. Also I'm never going to replay 3DS stages, they were so fucking annoying.
The 3DS version requires more skill. With more skill, the stages are a lot shorter than what people say the length is. With skill, the longest stages only take about 5 to 6 minutes.

Much more smoother parkour, longer levels, better use of the wisps, better sense of speed, better controls(Special Stages aside) and better bosses(Especially the Final Boss) Edit: I also think the Wii U(or HD like this video calls it) version would even suck as a Mario game!
My complaint is that they didn't take the parkour system and further evolve it and make it better. Combine an improved parkour system with the adventure style level design and controls and it could be perfect. Game is mediocre though and it can be quite frustrating to get through with is somewhat poor level design. Never played the 3DS version and I own the game on Steam. The music is great though as Lost world has a ton of great pieces

There's even some that last 1 to 2 minutes. People really exagerrate the act/zone length of the game when they themselves don't know how the game actually works. By the way, the 3DS version has materials and RC Vehicles. It also has a hard mode.
ive def always preferred the wii u version, and admittedly its one of my favorite sonic games LOL while the parkour is less implemented than the 3DS version, the wii u version allows far more crazy stunts if you can get really good at the parkour and your timing with jumping off walls even when i was a kid and owned both versions, the wii u version always stuck with me more, while the 3DS version i absolutely dreaded

I agree with your points, but you failed to consider that the PC version doesn't have most of the bonus content included in the Wii U version.
Actually it technically does as a modder actually managed to port the Yoshi's Island & Zelda DLC to the PC version of Lost World as a mod

In the 3DS Version you CAN continue the Spindash after a Jump, EVEN after a double jump so I think in this aspect the 3DS Version is better.

Just unlock super sonic and all these levels will become easier. It lets you jump higher and farther to get around troublesome-looking terrain
