@@Sydney_Angelyt You're definitely right about them needing to change the System though, I wish it was tougher to get an S rank. Hopefully Shadow Generations gets it right.
Your point about Modern Sonic’s stages having too many 2D sections was… Well, on point. The formula seen in Generations was actually introduced in Unleashed’s day stages. Modern Sonic’s stages consist of a mix of fully 3D sections and 2D sections. The 2D sections were included to harken back to Sonic’s Genesis days. For games like Unleashed and Colors, it makes sense to include them. But in Sonic Generations where nearly half of the game’s stages are dedicated to Classic Sonic, whose stages are ENTIRELY 2D, it doesn’t make much sense to put 2D sections in Modern Sonic’s stages.
That's a questionable take and wrongly assumes that 2d was a defining aspect of the Mega drive Sonic games. Unleashed's and Generations modern Sonic 2d sections were included to harken back to the Rush games, as the gameplay is much more similar to those games than the Mega Drive Sonic games, even having some key people behind both Rush and Unleashed. The mistake is lumping different gameplay styles simply because they are in 2d. If we apply the same logic to 3d, any requests fans may have to re-introduce a particular style of 3d Sonic is instantly discredited.
Interesting Theory: At the beginning of Generations we don't see Shadow at the party, but at the end Shadow is with the rest of the people at the party. Since Shadow Generations has been confirmed to show what Shadow was up to during the Sonic side of the story this is what I think might happen in his story: Shadow was invited to Sonic's birthday party but declines due to his character. However, he then changes his mind and decides to go. But when he arrives, he sees the Time Eater sucking everyone away and knocking Sonic out. He then jumps in but also gets taken away. Later, after being freed by Sonic in his rival fight, he hears Black Doom and goes on his own adventure. After of course defeating Black Doom, he'll meet up with the others who are heading to help the two Sonics against the Time Eater. In the end we see Shadow return with everyone else to the party from his perspective, and thanks to the character arc he went through in his story, he chooses to stay and spend time with everyone else. That's just my personal theory, but I hope this is the case.

For me, Sonic Generations is my most replayed Sonic game. Granted, I usually only replay the modern Sonic levels as I'm more nostalgic of the 3D Sonic games. What makes the game re-playable is the fact that you can use different songs for the levels. For example, I always play Live and Learn from Crush 40 when playing the City Escape level. I do the same thing with the rival fights. I tend to use "I Am All of Me" during the Shadow rival fight.

Generations is up there! Going fast actually feels good in this game unlike Colors and it represents the era of Sonic perfectly Classic era, Adventure era and Morden era! Great boss picks and side missions and the game is nearly 8 hours if you play the missions too! I have a friend who's got Shadow Generations early. He's told me it's wonderful and there's much more surprises I won't dare say more about, but, in the end, I'm much more happy Generations is finally off the PS3 and Xbox 360 and on Switch and PS5 soon. It's still my favorite Sonic game. Pure Sonic 2.5D and 3D controlling the best imo, and the only game in the series that dares to have the confidence to be pure Sonic levels from beginning to end with no fluff, and the only game in the series that imo, has well thought out boss fights. Every other Sonic game I can critique endlessly for having too much stop and go, some not picks, or just lacking confidence in the hallway Boost gameplay being the sole focus. This one? No. I don't think we'll ever get a game as polished and focused as this, besides maybe Shadows side, won't spoil it, but, this game, I see why Nintendo hired many of the game and Level Designers that worked on this after the fact. You can feel ever challenge stage, main stage, and boss fight was designed to keep you active, engaged, and excited. Boss introductions are so cool, the camera shots aren't cheap deaths, gimmicks don't stop you. God I love this game so much. I'm so hoping more people who missed Gens play this now that it'll be more places.
@@Local_Nerd_is Shadow’s game really the best example you can think of ? Because technically that game has one gameplay style. Sonic Generations remaster coming on modern consoles with a Shadow bonus content is gonna be amazing! I am absolutely gonna be playing this game 24/7 when it comes out. Oh in addition to all of the Shadow content we are getting, this will be my first full experience of the main game: needless to say, I am excited🤩 I do have one small critique: I wish they would have done more with the whole past and present thing involving classic Amy and classic knuckles, but then I remember this was the era where Sonic's friends were considered bad
Just wanna point out that dying in a stage prevents you from getting the S-Rank at all unless you exit the level and restart, and that the ranks are all mostly tome based, not score based.
They even said they would put Forces and Frontiers in the new game. Something that the original didn't have since those games came after the original. So we will get bonus levels and music. Although I love to see super stars and dream team as well I'm still happy we are getting new stuff.
I feel like the end Ring should be a time portal. Just think. When you choose an act a portal would open in front of Sonic and he would jump in. You run through the level and you get to the end and you jump through another portal the credit scene would happen in white space. As for classic Sonic you would still jump through a portal at the start and at the end you run by the sign post the credits happen and once his done dancing around a portal opens behind him and he jumps in. Someone should make a mod of this
Sonic Generatiosn is one of my favorite Sonic Games of all time. I can't wait what new things they did in Shadow Generations and I can't wait to see what moves they gave Shadow other than is signature move Chaos Control and his Chaos Powers. I also heard they added the Drop Dash from SONIC MANIA for Classic Sonic. I also heard they changed some stuff in the U.I. I am not sure what they changed for Modern Sonic though. I also love that they added Skins. I did predict this a long time ago, I also wonder what other skins they are going to add for the characters in the game. I have a theory that doesn't make quite sense, my theory is that in your new video explaining why you think there are 2 different Shadows in the game, and I was thinking that you know if you go to the SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS website you see that there is an empty Character Slot next to Shadow just like how it shows the Character in the base game Sonic Generations, it shows Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic and I think the empty Character Slot next to Shadow is the Shadow that you were talking about in your new Video and your theory, I might be wrong and that there might be a completely new character. I am really hoping to see new stuff in Sonic Generations, and I am extremely excited to play Shadow Generations.
I’ve yet to play Sonic Generations, so SXSG being released soon gives me the perfect opportunity to play it for the first time on Steam! I’ve heard nothing but praise for this game, so I’m very excited to play the full game when SXSG comes out! That said, I did play the Sonic Generations demo very recently with a controller for the first time. Given my PC is not built for gaming, I was very worried this demo was going to run horribly. My first time experiencing generations was the 3ds version, I remember being do scared to do the later bosses I would make my brother do it. Sadly, I never beat the final boss even though i got to it lol.
We may have our differences, Riley. But I can definitely agree that Gens is a pretty good time. Even at 22, still a great game. And the modding community certainly helps give the game even more replay value despite its short time in playthrough length.

Generations has flaws, but they are flaws I can look past because the game is fun and the good overlooks the bad. Would I say it's the perfect Sonic game? This was the first sonic game I played, and it made me a fan for life.
You’re not really nostalgic with the 3D games, you’re actually a nostalgic with the boost to win gameplay.
@@iceman92211 Sonic was never boost to win except when he was in Forces.
-Unleashed includes strictly reaction time based obstacles to put you on your toes.
-Colors is only considered a boost game because it includes boost. Boost literally almost doesn't matter.
-Generations is just Unleashed but with more platforming focus and alternative paths.
-Forces... forces.
-Frontiers falls to the same category as Colors.
@@Zerosaber91 I still don’t see what’s the difference because in all of them you still need to use the boost to beat the levels.
That’s why it’s called boost to win.
@@iceman92211
by that logic, the sa games are "hold up to win" because you need to hold up to beat the levels
@@snakey888 not really the adventure games has way more than that because unlike the boost, they actually have playable characters.
Sonic Generations is one of my all time favourite games. I like boosting through the stages and the bosses are pretty fun. Story is atrocious compared to previous entries but I still enjoyed it.
Oh, you actually bothered to criticize the story ? In that case what do you think of the characters ?
I am a huge Sonic fan my first Sonic game was Sonic dash and I love Classic and Modern Sonic I can’t wait for October I’m excited to play Sonic Generations for my first time
Sonic Generations has a beautiful nickname fans don't really call it called: "Sonic Unleashed 3"
Ik a lot of ppl complained that there are too many city levels in gens, but think about it, the city levels in sonic games are always the best. Heck, even in forces Metropolitan highway has the best levels in the game (also the only zone in the game that doesn't have a classic level for some reason) so I understand why sonic team put so many city levels into the game.
“You can die and still end up with a s rank” you can’t die to get a s rank 😂
I swear I died and still got an s rank when recording this video 😭
@SFproductions1 when you die you lose the perfect bonus and the perfect bonus is required to get a s rank
maybe im misremembering then. my mistake
@@SFproductions1 it might be that you didn't get a checkpoint yet and started the level completely over which I think doesn't void it, don't hold my word on it
Generations is up there! Going fast actually feels good in this game unlike Colors and it represents the era of Sonic perfectly
Classic era, Adventure era and Morden era! Great boss picks and side missions and the game is nearly 8 hours if you play the missions too!
While the final boss is annoying with Sonic's friends not shutting up to be fair I don't hate it I like that they are with Sonic the whole way though but that's just my opinion! Overall love generations
How does it represent the Adventure era when there’s no Adventure gameplay ?
@@iceman92211 Levels and bosses
@@elioridacow OK what’s the gameplay from the levels ?
@@iceman92211 It doesn't have to be the EXACT gameplay to represent the adventure era
It has Speed Highway, City Escape and Seaside Hill and it has Shadow as a rival fight and Perfect Chaos as the major fight
That represents the adventure era in Generations, The gameplay doesn't have to be exact, You people are so picky just be grateful you even got anything adventure related
@@elioridacow so the classic fans are allowed to get their beloved classic sonic and classic gameplay but us adventure fans are forced to except this boost to win gameplay even if we don’t like it ? Yeah that’s definitely a game for “ all fans “ because it seems like you’re fine with it picking a specific type of fans.
Also, I love the fact that you’re saying it represents the adventure era by literally only having levels and Boss fights instead of the actual gameplay, because aren’t you guys keep defending generation by saying only the gameplay matter when I’m literally talking about the gameplay and you decided to name level designs instead, what kind of logic you’re implying here ?
I only played 3ds generations. Cant wait to play this on switch.
Maybe this is the most polished game to you due to it not many things in it.
@@iceman92211 you act like it needs a million things like Shadow 05 or a million different play styles to be good man.
@@Local_Nerd_is Shadow’s game really the best example you can think of ? Because technically that game has one gameplay style.
And yes I do want the other characters to be playable because this game is supposed to be about the entire history of Sonic and yet the characters are just there as cheerleaders instead of getting chance to shine.
@@iceman92211 The whole point of sonic generations was to celebrate sonic only. Were any of the other characters (that were present in generations) around for as long as sonic besides eggman?
@@Witchcraft_VR so the whole point is making Sonic the only focus ( which was always a thing 4 years before this game came out ) and just having the other characters being there for no reason other than reminding us that they exist and not allowing us play as them even as an option ?
Sonic Generations remaster coming on modern consoles with a Shadow bonus content is gonna be amazing! I am absolutely gonna be playing this game 24/7 when it comes out. Generations definetly one of the best Sonic games out there. Story may be meh but the gameplays just look fantastic! I have been wanted to play Sonic Generations for so long. I never pre ordered a game so fast!
I'm not sure if I made this confession before, but I never played the original console version of Sonic generations: I did however play the 3DS version (criminally underrated by the way).
Oh in addition to all of the Shadow content we are getting, this will be my first full experience of the main game: needless to say, I am excited🤩
I do have one small critique: I wish they would have done more with the whole past and present thing involving classic Amy and classic knuckles, but then I remember this was the era where Sonic's friends were considered bad
Time Eater is such a scary cosmic concept.
Just wanna point out that dying in a stage prevents you from getting the S-Rank at all unless you exit the level and restart, and that the ranks are all mostly tome based, not score based.
WATCH OUT THATS A HOMING SHOT!!!!!!!!
Someone should make a mod of this
I Love Sonic Generations And I Can’t Wait To Play It With Sonic X Shadow Generations 🔥🔥
Sonic Generatiosn is one of my favorite Sonic Games of all time. I love how they changed some small things in the base game Sonic Generations, and I also love how they made a WHOLE NEW GAME which is Shadow Generations.
Glad I pre-ordered Sonic X Shadow Generations Deluxe edition. I never really played Sonic Generations before so it's a whole new game for me
Your in for a treat

I’ve yet to play Sonic Generations, so SXSG being released soon gives me the perfect opportunity to play it for the first time on Steam!
I’ve heard nothing but praise for this game, so I’m very excited to play the full game when SXSG comes out!
That said, I did play the Sonic Generations demo very recently with a controller for the first time. Given my PC is not built for gaming, I was very worried this demo was going to run horribly. But surprisingly, it ran really well! And I had a fun time with the demo! 👍
Can't wait to play Shadow Generations.

If they push the ranking system to be more challenging, then I'd give this a 10/10

Hey Sonic! enjoy the future, it’s gonna be great (that line did not age well at the time)
We may have our differences, Riley. But I can definitely agree that Gens is a pretty good time. Even at 22, still a great game. And the modding community certainly helps give the game even more replay value despite its short time in playthrough length.
What does the mods do ? From what I’ve seen they are nothing but reskins.
@@iceman92211 Nah, there are also stage mods and mods that change the hud of Gens to be like Unleashed. Like that one personally. Talk About The 3Ds Version Ez!!
Generations has flaws, but they are flaws I can look past because the game is fun and the good overlooks the bad. Would I say it's the perfect Sonic game? No, but it's up there in my top 5, definitely an A tier game for me. And like I said in my own video, it's a perfect game for people to play who are just getting into Sonic, whilst they might not understand Sonic lore as a whole, they'll still learn something about Sonic's past and how he transformed from a 2D platformer to a 3D runner.
Hopefully the "YOU HATE GENERATIONS" crowd can get off my as- I never said I hated this game 😭
What do you mean by transform from 2D to a 3D because isn’t Generations is like a 75% 2D game ?
This was actually my 1st boost game i played
If I could have levels from secret rings and black night I would totally choose night palace and molten mine
I really hope we get a Super Shadow transformation.
I so hope we get the 3DS levels and boss in Sonic part of Sonic X Shadow Generations, excluding Biolizard and Radical Highway as we know already they in Shadow’s history !
Me too. They didn't do it with colors tho. So I doubt it.
