"Read a lot": at an on campus event from Rothschild, all my peers buzzed them with their "what's a typical day of work like ?" and other networking soundbites while I just bounced on a comment saying that it made me think of the microeconomics of the historical event of French vines attacked by mildew that I read about in an old strategy book and the Rothschild guy said that it was the exact case study he uses to illustrate the concept he was talking about. We had great conversations and in the end asked if I wanted to intern in his m&a team. Moral is that books give so much depth and as knowledge compounds it's just fantastic.
