Geez, the abilities of those people. The time invested in the pieces of art. The trial and error to create what was once just an idea. Just magnificent.
As a totally novice blacksmith, I have the privilege of having my forge just a few miles from Hereford (England) where I saw some of these amazing pieces displayed recently. I may still be at the stage of just making simple coat hooks, but what inspiration. Not just the mastery of the physical craft but also the boldness of imagination and creativity displayed in so many diverse forms. Breathtaking.
I thought I was learning and gaining more skill as a smith, then I saw these inspiring and humbling pieces. I'm not much more than a novice myself, but no matter how much we learn in this craft there is always more to learn and do.
It almost puts into perspective how different people can look at the same exact thing (a simple block of metal in this case) and have so many different perspectives on what it is & what it can become. ....it's both inspiring and humbling at the same time.
Humbling, you got that right.

I had the privilege to assist setting up this display for the CBA Spring Conference a few months back. And the amazement I had seeing the creativity these people have was just inspiring!
10,000 likes! This genuinely made me tear up. Such mastery! I've not paid the price for mastery like that in any craft, but I bow to it; I adore it. God bless them, for He surely is glorified by their offerings!
I've been working with metal all my life in one way or another. I'm absolutely flabbergasted by these magnificent creations out of such a small piece of material. I'm in AWE!! Thanks for bringing these wonderful works of art to our attention!!!
It is simply amazing that so many different ideas came out of that single block of steel, proof that we need to be teaching this in schools, our societies would greatly benefit
I can't quite believe that those pieces of art are forged from that small bar, some look as if they have twice as much metal, amazing
love this guy for bringing sooo much knowledge with every video. It’s nice to see somebody focused on the precious things that really matter in life. Live in the “now”is this guys specialty.
I can hardly grasp the dedication and determination of those artists. WOW!!!
As I watch EC I am constantly reminded
We humans are amazing creatures when "Challenged " or allowed the opportunity for our minds to "Reach for the stars"
150 mm challenge is one of those things that challenges your imagination and skill to it's limits
Scott, so nice to visit with you at the conference. I think I may have been the one to send you over to view the challenge.
My mind is still blown by the challenge, I was fortunate enough to purchase the accompanying book. I took several trips thru it and saw different things every time.
Accompanying book? What book? I look at this glimpse of the work and imagine an amazing coffee table photo book. Is there such a thing, or is it more like an event program?
What an experience! The art shown here is out of this world.
Amazing craftsmanship.
All of our inspirations, our knowledge comes from GOD, to see these pieces and how each and every one was fashioned shows the master at work in each and everyone of us. Thank you for you taking the time to bring this to us.
Wow. That is next level craftsmanship.
Simply amazing work! I am stunned by the individuality of the artistry. Thanks for sharing this.
It’s hard to believe any one of those pieces came from that little bar of iron. Impressive!
Totally not what I thought it was going to be. Very inspiring!
Thanks for sharing the art gallery. Very impressive.
I agree with ALL of the accolades and Cy. I would have liked to watch the making of all of them.
Stunning, stunning, stunning!
Oh, my.
That display humbles and encourages new attempts of blacksmithing.
I had no idea that some of these things could ever be forged! Amazing
Those works are just incredible, the ideas and creativity from a square length of iron. I can tell by the footage and the tones of voice, everyone is in awe. Thank you for sharing this with us, art has no boundaries.
Absolutely amazing. Beautiful work 👏
Those are truly inspiring! Makes my attempts in the craft seem very small and insignificant. I definitely have a long way to go to be close to as good as those artists.
I dont have enough shelve or display space to put a fraction of the wonders you showed on display. Display the must be….Words can not do these pieces anything like justice. The art is one thing, the craftsmanship to make it another and then the limitations of that small square of steel. Just mind blowing even on a computer screen. Walking round the room must have sent the hairs on the back of your neck twitching… it did me and I’m 1000’s of miles away.
I am truly in awe ... the creativity and skills of these artist are amazing ... thank you for posting this !-)
Those pieces are incredible!
Thanks again awesome
So hard to believe, amazing works of art...👍👍👍
That is absolutely amazing, I struggle to believe that some of those are made from such a small piece of bar.
I'm sad I missed the showing. I'm a member of the NWBA, just couldn't make it down there. It would have been great to meet you too. Thanks for sharing! 👍⚒️🔥
How amazing. Not just experts in their medium but fantastically artistic.
This is astounding !
Makes me so happy to see this level of craftsmanship and creativity.
In my world (woodworking) the current thing seems to be carving spoons, signalling green (& identity politics) virtue and saving the world etc. etc.
I find that shallow and pretentious and it makes me despondent - there is so much more to woodworking ... so much potential !
Saw it at at the NWBA conference this year in Longview. It's one of those shows which has you asking "What have I been doing with my life when I could have been doing this?" The degree of craftsmanship and art is just staggering
Stunning. All I could do is smile!
WOW!!! Looking at those things and knowing the level of talent that it took and knowing how few will ever achieve that level... it really humbles a guy. Luckily, I rarely get out to heat-n-beat metal anymore or I would want to take all my blacksmithing stuff out to the scrap bin and dump it in. It does give me something to aspire to on the days I'm able to get out and putter around, but I'm afraid I don't have the imagination to see such wondrous and beautiful things in a small, plain bar, let alone have the skill and talent to bring them out.
WOW!!! How in the heck are some of these even made?! Jeeze man, that’s some workmanship 😮😄👌How would you even pick a winner when many of those designs are mind blowing 🤷😃
Thank you Essential Craftsman for sharing this with us. I am in awe.
WoW What Craftsmanship..i dont think i have ever saw any thing like that n my lifetime..Very Impressive IMO The Got Some Skills 4 Sure ..But I Also Know That Sy Has To as well as EC ! Very Cool to see..thanks for sharing !
"Phenomenal" some how seems inadequate to describe these creations...inspiring...
I Love your videos with Cy. He is a man who I wish I could have the opportunity just to shake hands with.
Truely amazing
That display is ridiculously good.....:)
Wowers. Forge On. God bless.
There is a lot of talent in the world!
Those are some amazing pieces
Thank you, for sharing! And, thank You, God, for having created us in Your image!!! What minds we have : )
Amazing work by very talented blacksmiths! Thank you very much for sharing this in a video!
that was amazing, thanks for sharing.
Fantastic!!!!
MIND BLOWING!!
Mind appropriately blown!
Some amazing creative talent
Wow! The fact those were made from that little bar, it was said in medevial times blacksmiths were magicians that controlled the 4 elements earth, wind, fire, and water! I'm nothing more than a humble apprentice whose skills come no where close to what is displayed there.
Would have been interesting to weigh them all and see if and how much material had been lost through the working process.
amazing work
Incidentally, the music that was played in the background was very pleasant to me. What is the name of the band? & What is the name of the album? ... Very much appreciated if you can get back to me with the answers. Thank you!
Mind blowing
Fantastic
Incredible
Amazing!
Stunning! I'm buggered after hammering a couple of nails 😂😂 And just so you know, Hereford is pronounced He-Ra-Fud. 👍
Wow thats awesome
That room is a bookless library
Just wonderful!
Amazing
I got to see this gallery when I went to the ABANA Iron to Art fest in Johnstown, PA. VERY COOL! If you have a chance to check it out, I would suggest you do! I was blown away by what folks were able to accomplish with that small amount of material.
The butterfly and hand should be a statue somewhere.
Awesome
What manner of sorcery is this?
Just amazing work there. Thank you for showing and sharing it! And now, a constructive criticism: learn about audio, the levels and db in recording. Mic individuals. Pad the music down. Nothing more frustrating than watching a video, turning the audio up to hear, then having music blast out. And don't take it as negative. There are many YTube creators that could use a lesson in softer audio music, and better audio. Plenty of courses to learn on it and perfect it. Just like EC!
WOW - ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE - it did look as though more metal was used in some of these pieces but i guess not , maybe you'd have to see them for real to see the size - i assume they all weigh like the original bar or less
Wow!
Amazing, incredible.
This was first done by student blacksmiths at the forges at Holme Lacy college in Herefordshire, England, home of the National School of Blackmiths.
It's pronounced He-re-ford, rather than Herford.
Ya, like the beef
So every thing the person made came from the ONE 6 inch piece ? Thanks for clarifying !
Magic last week, we had Webb telescope. Now we have these. the Universe drops the mic........
If only they included the order of operations for each.
Nice
Wow
1:42 Hereford, like the beef?
Exactly like.
I didn’t realize that was going on. I was 30 minutes away and never knew it…
This does my heart good.
Wow!!!
Not Here ford, but Heri fud!
👍
Was Cy there as contestant or a judge?
It’s pronounced He-ra-furd (Hereford). Where the SAS are stationed.
Holy schnikes!
Os this like nascar. Are therw rules to the equipme t used, is it all by hand, or limmit to numbera of tools, or size of powerhammer?
Those guys are a bunch of show offs is all I can say. 😁
If mechanics in the trades put in 10 percent of the effort that essential craftsman did to teach the next generation. You would have more guys in the trades unfortunately most guys are afraid to share knowledge with the next generation and treat them like 💩.
🤘🤘🤙👍
.
Amazing work, hot dang! :)
My jaw dropped at the moving pieces. Some damn fine art in that room. Proud to be an englishman!
