You have just made a 60 yr man cry! God bless you sir for giving as much as you do on this channel! I lost my grandfather when I was very young and my parents divorced by the time I was 5 so I didn't have these moments. . . I urge anyone who has grandchildren/children to spend this quality time showing them a craft/skill etc. Thank you for this and all your wonderful work!
Me too. I am 45 and had an unplanned son who is now 11 months old whom I love beyond anything I can describe. I hope I am still around to have these kind of moments with him.
I'm a 27 years old carpenter and let me say what a huge inspiration you have been to me. I love all your videos and your a legend up there with Larry haun. Keep up the good work EC 🔨
I can promise you, Scott. when your grandson is a grandfather himself telling his grandchildren about the time his grandpa taught how to tear sandpaper the right way. His epiphany at 1:45 just instantly touched my heart. Moments like these are what remind us and make us remember fondly the old folks who are no longer here. Also certain ones i miss dearly. I love these videos, truly, so much so that shedding tears of pride is nothing i am ashamed of.
Kids that have grandparents with skills to share and the patience to share them are truly blessed. I have pictures and videos of my dad holding the Sawzall and my 3 and 4 year old boys pulling the trigger to help Poppy with the renovations. Take the time to share the love of what you do and kids will reflect that love. Thank you for a view into your family.
My son loves beeing with either one of his granddads in their workshops. He helps them, learns, listens and tells me ALL the things they fabricobbled. I kust love it. My dad took me to the workshop when i was 4 and i often was in there, working on something. Often just random stuff. Oh the memories - those were really precious moments.
What a delightful grandson! Each time he sees and understands something you just taught him and says “Ohhhh” is so wonderful. Like sanding the dirt off the handle or when he realized that a wedge spreads out the handle. What absolutely priceless moments of a grandfather building into a grandson! You are a rich man Scott! So is Nate! I am the same age as you Scott and just retired from a great career to spend time in the shop with my 5 grandchildren doing exactly what you are with Leo! Thank you for sharing these precious moments!
Oh I love this video! Yesterday I shared it with a lot of people. I'm an old guy. But my first grandchild was just born. I hope to be like this with him. Thank you!
Leo is quite the little craftsman. He will never forget those nights spent with Pop in his shop transforming his found item into a treasured gift and valued tool for his dad.
Best video to date! My dad was a finish carpenter and this brought back all the times he spent teaching me to do the best work I could do. I spent 46 years building and fabricating as a welder and fitter, not a carpenter. Never planned to but at the age of 14 my employer and still my best friend today taught me the basics of welding and it grew from there. I only hope that through the years I have been able to pass on the lesson that these two men passed on to me. Other than Salvation this was the best gift ever given to me. Thank you for the memories and for keeping up the good work.
Man, this video made me miss my grandpa. He died back in June, and the way you spoke to your grandson while doing that project is exactly how my grandpa spoke to me while wrenching on small engines or building model airplanes and flying them. God bless your family!
As a father of a little boy a couple years younger than Leo, I know that that ax will be a treasure that Nate will keep for the rest of his life. What a wonderful Christmas present.
What better time than with dad or grandad making a gift? Nate not only has a great gift made by his son but also the gift from his dad of the video! Glad I'm not the only old man crying. God bless you all.
The axe was a nice present but LEO got the best gift, time spent with his grandpa learning how to make something special for someone special with someone special!!
Great work Leo. You can never spend too much time out in the shop learning. Enjoy every moment, cherish them, learn, and ask questions. One day when your parents and grandparents are gone, you'll look back and remember them for all they taught you, and all the great times you had.
I'm digging your scene, Grampa! I used to teach construction. Retired with grandkids now. When the student is ready the teacher will appear. Great job!. Great kid!
There are very few people on youtube that will bring a genuine smile to my face and you do. This Old Tony, AvE, and your channel have been a very large part of my decisions to pursue a career in skilled trades and I am loving every second of it. I am a little less than a year into an apprenticeship for tool and die making and I am very excited to continue learning about the art of making. Thank you.
Wish there were more like you. When he grows up, I want his children to know what freedom feels like. This is what media should look like. He has a very cool grandpa. You inspire me sir.
I'm a 34 year old man and this brought tears of joy to my eyes. I'm definitely thinking of projects to do with my 5 year old niece that'll, hopefully, give her some skills that'll last a lifetime. It's moments like these that make me strive to be a better person. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing precious moments showing Leo how to install a handle in an ax head. Leo, his dad and everyone else will not forget this wonderful Christmas gift. Blessings to you all...
My Grandkids LOVE to go to work in Papa's wood shop as soon as they get to my house. I love teaching them the skills I have acquired in60 years of wood working.
Woodworkers are so sentimental. I have been trying to tell my sweet wife this. He hit the wood every time. My grandson is 2 years lod .Soon we will do this type of work. Love your channel.
EC was my first RUclips subscription and my first patreon account. I am not in the trades, but appreciate your efforts, and videos, having repaired and remodeled evey home I have been in. I have traded labor with others in construction for assistance with my projects, and your calm and encompassing style is very entertaining to view. Grandkids and a shop equal a wonderful experience. Thank you. Inspires me to do more with my grandkids. Steve
I'm not crying, you're crying! I love watching your videos, they are life lessons really. Very inspiring and I thank you for continuing to put out videos. It's hard to find meaningful, quality content like yours, and I'm glad I did!
Life skills and memories that will last a lifetime to make an unforgettable gift for another. I wish I was able to spend time like this with my grandfather as a little one. Love this.
You have done some amazing things on this channel...you built a house to teach us all for crying out loud....but this, this is one of my favorite videos you have ever done.
I just want to say thank you for all the wholesome content you upload. It's a gift to us all! I lost my grandfather in March of 2021 and seeing this video brought back so many memories. I'm 26 now and even today find myself using tricks and techniques that my grandpa taught me when I was only Leo's age. It's those lessons that stick with you for a lifetime and that are the ones you will recall even when you find yourself the teacher. Thank you and keep up the awesome work!
It is one of my greatest blessings as a grandparent to be able to share my humble my skills with our grandchildren. The blessings of helping a young one craft something as a gift is so rewarding. Thank you for sharing this special experience.
Buckin’ Billy Ray is going to want to meet this little guy and compare notes on how to build a solid axe. This is some priceless time in the shop with grandpa.
That young lad is already way ahead of his peers just for having this education in his life. Breeding skills and habits which will serve him well for the rest of his life.
That was beautiful to watch, I see a budding maker of great potential. If all kids could have this gift, society would be much a calmer environment to grow up in.
ATTA BOY! you are inheriting a pride in work and skill set that's been passed down for generations, may it bring you a fullness and happiness that lasts into the next ,be proud you are a part of a ever shrinking group of craftsman and through youngbucks like you it will grow and evolve.... you are a essential craftsman
I'm 32 years old and I can still remember my first projects with my father as he taught and raised me in the craft of our forefathers, still to this day even after building complete houses I still remember those first projects and you will to
My dad wasnt able to teach me things and spend time with me when i was your grandsons age. He would get angry when i did things wrong and didnt know how to communicate with me when i was a kid. Watching this video, you were building an axe. But the real project was imbuing your grandson with skills, practice, and confidence in himself that he will take with him the rest of his life. I could be bitter and jealous because i see that your grandson has something that I never had, something that i sorely missed. But instead im grateful for you and proud of both of you. By not having a connection with my dad or grandpa i know how precious that connection is. Thank you. This is the way familys should be. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The time you spend with your grandson is a powerful, beautiful gift. God bless.
Grandpa time (esp. with snacks!) is absolutely terrific. I never had any myself (my grandads died long before I was born). But I've got a granddaughter now, and she's nearby. And she already knows that Grandpa makes stuff and fixes stuff.
I took your blacksmithing course, and it started me down the path to join the American Bladesmith Society. Thank you for sharing your gift of knowledge. The world needs your unique teaching style.
This was awesome! Thank you so much for letting us viewers be a part of this. Also, thanks for the valuable lessons. "Anything worth doing is worth doing well" and "It does not have to be perfect, but make it as good as you can". The world needs more of this. The older generation teaching the new.
I am a 19 year old from Tennessee and I am just beginning in the trades. My desire to start learning more trades mostly came from you Mr. Scott and I admire everything from your hard work to your diction! I really enjoyed this video. God Bless You.
This vid is so heart melting this is why we should respect our elders for a treat this will make me feel like an intelligent person I love helping my parents and grandparents saving them a job such a very decent video.
You can tell Scott is pumped to help his grandson out. Like beaming with Pride! I never had a grandfather so I can tell you Scott that what your doing with your grandchildren is invaluable to their future. Good job!
This was priceless, thank you for being such a genuine human being and sharing that with your grandson. He will remember that for the rest of his life.
I had an old neighbour, growing up in the late 90's - Early 2000's that took me under wing. He was an Engineer for CN Rail and retired, lost his love of his life early. One moment that really stuck out for me, he had this old birch tree to take down and he would cut a large limb down while I was at school, wait for me to come home and we would take about the world while cutting it into peices manually, drinking copious amounts of gingerale. I never really appreciated the time that old guy invested in me until this video. I new realize just how lucky I was to have someone willing to take a crazy kid like me and teach me how to use tools, build things and educate me. WOW. Life really is grand.
Thank you for sharing those moments, especially with your Grandson Leo. That had the most effect on me. As I never knew either of my Grand Fathers . I hope you understand. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
I've watched so many if your videos. Learned and took inspiration from your craftsmanship. But this by far is my favorite video. Reminds me of me and my grandpa (retired chrysler mechanic). Top notch sir
When you hit the tail end of the handle on the belt to give it that nice dark ring on the chamfer it took me back 25-odd years to my dad showing me the exact same trick in his workshop. He will remember those few days for the rest of his life and that's the stuff aint it? That's what its about. You capture that so well.
was 28 years old when I found a little cruiser double bit axe head in the blackberries. Dad asked for it, then months later, presented me with that same axe head cleaned up, new handle. Both parents gone now. Your video today brought tears. God bless, and thankyou EC gang. good work indeed! Darrell
This channel is the most complete form of entertainment going today! Informative, of course that’s 90% of it. Drama? The word stairs or the concrete mixer rounding the bend is drama for any of us long time fans. And best of all are the videos like this ones that fill the viewers minds with memories and eyes with tears. Thank you EC for a truly special viewing experience
When i was 2 years old my grandpa died do to cancer, and when i see this i wish he would still bin here and that we could do that to. You are a great man with awesome video's, keep up the good work
If I could cut a year off the end of my life to just spend a day with my grandparents I would do it without hesitation. Hanging out with my grandpa in his woodshop and with my granddaddy on his farm is the reason why I love building and fixing things today. Gob bless the grandparents - the world needs more of them!
you, sir, are awesome. this kid is going to remember these moments for the rest of his life and draw on this for years to come. i wish i had someone like you in my life growing up.
Great to see these skills passed on, when I was an apprentice (long ago) my told me to always fold the sandpaper in half to have two rough sides out. It means that when you hold it, it never slips. These olds ways are gold dust
As always top shelf work. It reminds me of “you see this mark it’s called an eighth…” lost me dad when I was 8. I truly appreciate the development of those who come after. God Bless
This is such a great video! Thank you so much for sharing. I’m not sure how old Leo is but he looks to be about the same age I was when my grandpa took me out to the shop for my one of my first projects. I am not sure if you like hearing stories from other folks but, We were having a family BBQ and we wanted to boil some corn on the cob over and open fire so we needed a way to hang the pot over the fire. It was the first time I ever learned to weld and we built a 3 legged device that we were able to hang a big ole pot over the fire to cook our corn. That was about 27 years ago and I’ve never forgotten a single moment about that day, every time I strike up my welder I am reminded of that time spent with my grandpa, and of the excitement that I had when we got to cookin and I got to share that I built and welded this tool. 27 years later once a year on Canada day we have all our family out to our place (grandpa and grandma included) for a big meal and I still have that original pot hanger that grandpa and I built together that we use to cook up some corn with and come together as a family again, and every year grandpa and I take a few minutes to just sit back, talk and look at what that simple little metal contraption has done, it brings our whole family together and grandpa and I get to say to ourselves we did this. I am certain that Leo will cherish the memories that he makes in the shop with you just as I have. Great video it really hit home with me.
This video of the Essential Grandpa brings back some wonderful similar memories in my own grandfather's woodworking shop. He started with caskets, then cabinets and house repair. Amazing times. Thanks for sharing this
Reminds me of working with my dad when I was growing up. I remember at the time he was doing a lot of wood turning and I learned how to use the lathe making pens, pencils, and letter openers. I'm helping him pour a foundation this weekend for a garage extension...I guess even 20+ years later not much has changed.
You have just made a 60 yr man cry! God bless you sir for giving as much as you do on this channel! Adam. I teared up when Nate open the box!! Terrific grandpa & his grand son moment!! KUTGW
Me too. I am 45 and had an unplanned son who is now 11 months old whom I love beyond anything I can describe. I hope I am still around to have these kind of moments with him.

The video was just pure gold. The kids and youngsters are a delight - and most importantly the future for all of us.
Doesn’t get much better than this right here. Grandpa and grandson cherishing time together. What a blessing!!
What an ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL time...a grandad, a grandson working together on a gift for a dad. DOES NOT get any better than that!!
I can promise you, Scott. when your grandson is a grandfather himself telling his grandchildren about the time his grandpa taught how to tear sandpaper the right way. My grandfather (on either side of the family) never spent time with me, this video made me jealous lol

What a great comment. I can say there is nothing comparable to salvation from Jesus Christ, but this comment is definitely A gift. God bless
Man, this video made me miss my grandpa. He died back in June, and the way you spoke to your grandson while doing that project is exactly how my grandpa spoke to me while wrenching on small engines or building model airplanes and flying them. God bless your family!
I once heard it said that the biggest success a man can have in life is to have grandchildren who love him. You're there Mr Wadsworth. Well done.
Nothing better than Grandpa time. This brings back a lot of great memories of me and Gramps. I sure do miss him.
As a father of a little boy a couple years younger than Leo, I know that that ax will be a treasure that Nate will keep for the rest of his life. What a wonderful Christmas present.
I wish I could have been blessed by a Dad or Grandpa like you. Thanks for being a great role model for your grandkids.
I don't comment often but this is one of the best clips I've seen, all the memory's being made and captured .Such a caring and polite young man
What better time than with dad or grandad making a gift? Nate not only has a great gift made by his son but also the gift from his dad of the video! Glad I'm not the only old man crying. God bless you all.
Grandkids are our reward for raising our kids!! Great grandkids are the cherry on top! Retirements allows time to savor it all.
this is so beautiful.. 42 years old and never thought i would cry happy again
The axe was a nice present but LEO got the best gift, time spent with his grandpa learning how to make something special for someone special with someone special!!
I am 16 now and remember doing all sorts of fun stuff with my grandpa. He's blessed to have a granddad like you!!
Great work Leo. You can never spend too much time out in the shop learning. Enjoy every moment, cherish them, learn, and ask questions. One day when your parents and grandparents are gone, you'll look back and remember them for all they taught you, and all the great times you had.
This channel has been one of the influences into making me want to actually have kids and create a family.
It's a great time! You'll not be disappointed. Pick a woman that you want to be with forever without any doubt.
@@billbradleymusic How to get a girlfriend? Well, that is a challenge for part of men.
The excitement in his voice as he explained it to his dad makes you know he got it. NICE!
Thank you.
Couldn't wipe this smile off my face through the whole vid. This is what life's all about. Thank you
Your a great grandfather.
God bless ya.
Brought tears to my eye's.
It's heartwarming to see the younger generation learning and taking an interest in part of his heritage. God bless you and your family.
Nothing more blessed and enjoyable than working with your grand kids in 'Pop's Shop!"
That young man will one day look back on the memories you are providing and see that shop as hallowed ground. Carry on good sir.
Thanks for sharing precious moments showing Leo how to install a handle in an ax head. Leo, his dad and everyone else will not forget this wonderful Christmas gift. Blessings to you all...

I'm not crying, you're crying! I love watching your videos, they are life lessons really. Very inspiring and I thank you for continuing to put out videos. It's hard to find meaningful, quality content like yours, and I'm glad I did!
Gandfather and a Grandmother are a blessing. Thanks for share!
The blessings of family are rich, and sharing them with others blesses many. The object itself is important, but the real gift is what it represents.
Howdy, My older brother sent this to me with a note that read, "This is the kind of Grandpa I hope to be" brought tears to eyes. Thank You.
That´s what I call quality time, making timeless memories. Thanks for the ride!
nothin' like a lil' balsam bow to bring the smell of the PNW ,.. this was great
This is incredible. The knees knocking while his pop admired that axe said everything words didn’t have to.
Life skills and memories that will last a lifetime to make an unforgettable gift for another. I wish I was able to spend time like this with my grandfather as a little one. Love this.

As a Papa that has the privilege to have some of my grandkids “work” with me almost everyday, I think this is one of your best videos! Blessed!
My dad wasnt able to teach me things and spend time with me when i was your grandsons age. He would get angry when i did things wrong and didnt know how to communicate with me when i was a kid.

Excellent demonstration of how to teach a grandchild skills they will remember the rest of their lives. And at the same time a great lesson in GIVING.
Grandpa time (esp. with snacks!) is absolutely terrific. I never had any myself (my grandads died long before I was born). But I've got a granddaughter now, and she's nearby. And she already knows that Grandpa makes stuff and fixes stuff.
Very inspiring !
Good job Leo !
Thanks for sharing Grandpa !
Good grand-fathering skills to pass on folks. I hope to be one some day. That boy will never forget this venture.
I took your blacksmithing course, and it started me down the path to join the American Bladesmith Society. Thank you for sharing your gift of knowledge. The world needs your unique teaching style.
God bless the ESSENTIAL grandfather passing his knowledge onto his grandson. Beautiful to see. Now THATS being an ESSENTIAL craftsman.
This is the most wholesome thing I've seen today. It's nice to see something good and positive on the internet. Keep up the good work!

You sir are everything our country needs !
Fantastic! Making memories that will be with him the rest of his life.
Fantastic! As a grandpa myself I enjoyed this so much, great to see you teach him skills and spend time with him that he will never forget.
If I could cut a year off the end of my life to just spend a day with my grandparents I would do it without hesitation. Hanging out with my grandpa in his woodshop and with my granddaddy on his farm is the reason why I love building and fixing things today. Gob bless the grandparents - the world needs more of them!
Making greatness memorys. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. forge on. Keep making. God bless.
Gotta love the wonderment! As a Grandpa myself... Warms the heart! Keep up the good work as they say in the EC world!!
you, sir, are awesome. this kid is going to remember these moments for the rest of his life and draw on this for years to come. i wish i had someone like you in my life growing up.
God Bless
That is wonderful, I'm sure you are very proud of that young man, as you should be!
Thanks for sharing this
What an amazing example for all of us, from both of you! Great work, Leo. And Scott, what a legacy you're creating. Thank you for sharing this!
That is so cool! I hope the little guy carries everything he learned and learns for many years to come!
Love it! These are the things he will remember long after you are gone.
You're a good Papa and you have a wonderful family. I loved this video!
Besides all your other videos, this video shows the quality of the man that you are
Reminds me of working with my dad when I was growing up. I remember at the time he was doing a lot of wood turning and I learned how to use the lathe making pens, pencils, and letter openers. I'm helping him pour a foundation this weekend for a garage extension...I guess even 20+ years later not much has changed.
