Watching these two fly effortlessly off script with each other is truly hilarious. Total pros, and I'm so glad they've stayed both hilarious and relevant all these years
... and when Bowen Yang comes in with the next "kid" at 02:28 he can barely control bursting out in laughter at the "impromptu roasting" between Martin and Short. In fact, when it started at 02:19 Bowen was probably one of the people laughing off camera.

The brilliance of these 2 is that I certainly can't say for sure one way or another if it *was* meant to b part of the sketch or if he accidentally stood up & they just rolled with it 👏👍🤭🤩

Not only did Martin Short get so passionate he forgot the sketch for a second, he almost had a heart attack too. God I miss comedians like these two guys. ❤️

I didn't notice that at first but you are right. Martin did stumble there and grab his chest, and it seemed that Steve got worried. Then he laughs about it. Pure dedication to his acting.

Wanted to shout out Chloe's voice and her little hop off the stage. She killed it this episode!
It was soo on point but is it me or did she sound like a lit like Elmo? Lol 🤣
Also, the way she slits her eyes after every request, like she's envisioning it. Just like a little girl. Don't really care too much for Chloe, but she def killed it in this sketch.
She did her Elmo voice from the SNL bit they did on Zöe’s rock Rocko 😂

It was obviously Pringles because of the final graphic. Nice covering for a mistake.
I'm guessing they kept messing it up in dresss so they went with it for the real thing, which made me happy

In the hands of lesser comics, an ad-lib like Steve's would have derailed the entire sketch. It's amazing how quickly they went from clearly breaking from going off-script to getting right back into the sketch without missing a beat.
They’ve been in the business since the 70’s, it’s nothing to them.

Martin was more 80s
Martin Short was 1980s, with SCTV and that one season of SNL he did (season 10; 1984-85), though he probably did stage work and work with the Second City improv group before that.

Steve Martin and Martin Short are magic together. Freaking love these guys!

This was very inspirational. 1 of my kids is at the age where she's starting to question. "How does Santa get to everybody on one night, Mommy?" "Timezone differences... OH, and speed!"

As someone who dressed up as an elf for a holiday job, I approve of this skit. I only wish that the kids would constantly ask Martin what it's like to be an elf because that's ALL they asked me!

the ad lib wasn't Martin getting up. It was the beginning when Steve says "Springles" when it should be "Pringles" - check the last graphic at the end. and it made it that much funnier.
:) Wow, I don't even know for sure what was scripted and what was ad-libbed. Steve & Marty truly are like a classic comedy team like Martin & Lewis, it's wonderful.
These two should become co-producers of SNL. This is easily one of the best shows they've had in easily over a decade.

Those who loved Martin Short in this - I really recommend you see the comedy film Clifford with him in it (and no I'm not talking about that dumb red dog). It's the best comedy film.
