"They can't see me coz I'm a ghost, so you look like a total psycopath" lol I'm dead!
One of my favorite lines of this skit lol
For sure the blinded orphans couldn't see him !
So is he!
This is hilarious 😂
Rofl
Martin Short is as good as he ever had been at 72. So talented
I like him better as the cat in the hat
Steve Martin…. Not so much.
JK love these guys
He’s the greatest.
Just thinking the same thing - he's such a crack up
@@gjc21ful always has to be one guy who gets mad at other people's opinions huh. Bet you're fun at parties.
My favorite part? That the Ghost just immediately disavowed having anything to do with the fracas. "They can't see me -- you look like a psychopath!" Dickens surely would have approved of this!
Exactly. Best line. Ghost is like we did our job this is all you
But yet he’s still capable of throwing real coins 😂
Dickens was probably spinning in his grave when this skit aired.
And he sounded just like old Steve Martin.....it was great. But still luv the Monty Python skit. ❤
This will be an all time SNL classic. Well done!
I think whoever sees this New Christmas Carol will never forget it ever! It’s too Funny!!
While watching this I was thinking this is gonna be an instant classic. It's going to be included in every SNL Christmas special from now on.
@@Call_Me_Echelon you are So Right!
Yes, it will! Hahaha!!
@@Call_Me_Echelon It was indeed in the 2022 SNL Christmas special.
skits done this well are worth every penny spent to produce, SNL at its best
Not the pennies!!!!! 😱🤣
Just don't let 'em throw coins out tha window or else they're gonna face attempted murder of an orphan charges.
It cost 51251510 pennies amounting to a total of 48621512 eyeballs gouged out. But it was worth it. Even the last one which blinded my left eye. But it's okay, because I'm still able to watch this video with my remaining eye.
At it's best is appallingly awful. This was stupid and embarrassing and the perfect proof that I have missed nothing since I stopped watching this garbage years ago.
Pennies from Heaven!?!? AAAAAAIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
I haven’t laughed this hard at an SNL sketch in years 😂
Me neither
Gotta be a fake account
😆 Yeah, in my opinion SNL hasn’t been funny in a LONG time… this was actually a good one. Not surprised some of the OGs of comedy are involved.
This sketch reminded me of Monty Pythons Flying Circus "Sam Peckinpah's Salad Days" sketch. Check it out if you can find it.
me too
Martin Short and Steve Martin never fail to bring a smile to my face and make me laugh.
Thanks guys.
There should be a Comedy Hall of Fame - with both of them in it!
Indeed if those two can't carry the show to a good episode then no one can.
Tiny Tim going into the sewer had me gasping for air. No notes 💯 😂
"My new advice is to lawyer up." 🤣🤣🤣
This had Farewell Mr. Bunting vibes throughout, and I love it. Instant classic.
For those who haven't watch the Farewell Mr. Bunting sketch, watch it.
The second I saw Sarah get stabbed in the eye, it DEFINITELY reminded me of Farewell Mr. Bunting.
OMG! YESSSS!!!
I was thinking of that too.
@@sha11235 So did I.
I was waiting for decapitation :D
One of the best ever! Echoes of Monty Python! Thank you SNL!!!
“ Salad Days”! 😆The writer must have seen this😉
Or “Don’t Hug Me, I’m Scared”.
Their “Jobs” episode ended with the same gag.
@@shd8822 Totally! I remember seeing Salad Days years ago & couldn't contain myself
The beauty of Salad Days is that it was succinct and unexpected. As soon as he threw the coin in the air I knew where this was going, and it went on far too long.
@@kylestubbs8867I saw that episode. That’s what I thought of when I saw this. 😂😂😂 Unlike Sarah, Duck Guy deserves it for being a dick throughout the entire episode.
Every skit with Martin Short and Steve Martin in it for this show was on point and hilarious. Their monologue was spectacular. They always been a great team and I’m proud of SNL of having them work together and ensure the skits they have were worth it. Shout out to the other original Kings of Comedy. 😂
The horse kicking Mikeys head off is what finally made me wheeze lol
I did not see that coming.
Yes… I was laughing but somewhat under control until that point, and then that followed by Tiny Tim being knocked back down into the sewer… I had to roll the video back because I couldn’t hear anything over my own laughter.
Right there with you Geezer ROFLMAO!!!!!
@@stevechance150 Neither did he. Ba-dum --- tish.
@@stevechance150 neither did the blinded orphans
Love that this sketch takes ONE joke and just keeps expanding on it - master class of comedy writing!
Bro they stole the joke from dont hug me I’m scared…. Just look at the end of the jobs episode…
Finally, a negative comment! I agree, the writing gets lazy. One joke repeated over and over
@@lilshabaz1862 People laughed. Stop being a scrooge. And don't act like "dont hug me" is your daddy.
Literally stole the whole bit from the end Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared s2e1
@@The_SniperCam nobody knows what that is. is it a children's show?
Classic. An absolute classic. Whoever wrote this, congratulate yourselves. Not only is this going to be on the Christmas reels, this will be on the top 10 reels. Hysterical. You made my evening.
I've watched this 15 times at least over the past week, and EACH and EVERY time I'm laugh-crying so badly... OMG these two rock. WELL DONE to the SNL writers of this skit!
One of the best sketches I’ve seen in forever. So glad to see Martin short doing what he does best!
Killing people?
@@DouglasZwick
That was actually Scrooge… the character Martin Short was playing. Can you not tell the difference between the two?
@@Duckdemon666 Sorry, he's just such a good actor
OMG!! I haven't laughed THIS hard at an SNL skit in years!!! I was crying by the end!! Thank you whoever wrote this!!
Same!!!!
Sarah Sherman I guarantee you
At least one good writer from SCTV.
Then let me recommend "Farewell Mr. Bunting"
100% Sarah Sherman
😂😂Even though they couldn't see him because he's a ghost, he still backed slowly out of sight...hilarious.
I laughed out loud at this skit and I laughed even harder when Tiny Tim fell in the sewer 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“Scrooge just threw Tiny Tim into the sewer!”
@@kenthuang436 "He's the devil, he is!"
@Christopher Dorrough - The joke's on them - I don't think London had a sewer system back then! They used wooden septic Tanks. So, what DID Tiny Tim fall into?
I could not stop laughing to tears!!! So hilarious!! This has to be added to the holidays episode.
Such a gruesome but masterful sketch👏👏
At least Tiny Tim had a less gruesome death compared to the others.
Have not watched SNL in over a decade because of the politics. But when I heard Martin and Martin were co-hosting. I tuned in. Pleasantly Surprised. They know they are losing viewership because of the politics and really un-funny new cast. SNL was funny up to the 90's and maybe a few episodes in the 20's. I miss Phill Hartman. RIP.
@@japa9991 I was born in the 90s and remember my parents watching it every now and then, we mostly watched mad TV. I haven't really watched any comedy or late night type show cause it all seems to be about politics, but I discovered Martin short and Steve martin via only murders in the building and can't get enough of them. I've been binging their stuff, it's hilarious. I don't really hear anything political from them, but even when they do that it's funny unlike a lot of comedians who just basically regurgitate what other hosts or comics have said or it's just not funny at all.
@@ramirezproductions0826 Tiny Tim fell in a manhole with Sewage and Drowned.
@@japa9991 The new cast isnt unfunny you just answered in your own comment that the material has been stupid and too political. Youre also just an old boomer probably, every new cast is unfunny until they get sometime to live with each other. The rose colored glasses you old people use to look back on what you loved is hilarious.
This is literally the funniest skit I have seen in many years. LOL
Definitely a Monty Python feel to this one. So good 👏🏼🤣
The Python sketch was “ Salad Days”!😆
YESSS
i love when i can tell that sarah wrote the sketch
squirm defnly wrote this..i watched it 3 times
Yeah. She seems to have a thing for eyes & being blind. Ha.
Having known her from the standup scene in Chicago I love that she's becoming the new breakout star on SNL but also like any comedian seeing another be successful I quietly hate her for it 🙂
Really yeah that's definitely her humour yeah didn't think of that
@@therealCamoronunderstandable. Hope your big break comes soon (plot twist: it probably won’t)
One of the funniest things I’ve seen in awhile…literal tears were streaming down my face 🤣🤣
What I love about this sketch is the twist. I know that sounds basic, but there have been SO many takes on A Christmas Carol, that when you see it, your mind immediately goes “Okay, what do YOU have to say about this” and boy, did they have a new take 😂😂😂😂
When the decapitated head hit Timmy as he was coming up out of the sewer, I died 😂😂
I could watch Martin Short in anything. He’s a joy to watch.
Uh Stevie baby was there too... Granted during interviews it's Martin who is Hilarious
@ET M - The last I saw him was when Short played a small, but hilarious role as a Leprechaun in "Shimgadoon", episode 1.
😆 🤣 😂The Coin Hit The Crutch And "TINY TIM FELL IN THE SEWER."😆..Really Good Skit👍🏿💯👍🏿
Steve Martin and Martin Short are comedy legends in any TV show or movie together.
2:29 - "h'es blindin' the whole town he is" love her
I actually can not breathe right now. This sketch had me kicking and screaming on the floor 🤣😭
Hope you didn't accidentally kick anyone's head clean off
Me too
That certainly went dark!!😂😂😂😂😂
For the first orphan, really quick
It was like Quentin Tarantino directed Christmas Carol.
I've been a fan of SNL since it came on the air when I was 15, and this ranks among the funniest skits I've ever seen! It is HILARIOUS, and is made all the sweeter with the presence and performances of Martin Short and Steve Martin. Bravo!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST SNL SKETCHES
"A Christmas Gory"
4:03 Apple Pay never use coins again
I love it when SNL does sketches like this. The audience always laugh their hearts out.
Martin Short's "okay well we've all learned a lot from this haven't we" made me die laughing
I haven't laughed this hard since Farewell Mr Bunting
absolutely absurdly funniest sketch
A Christmas Carol SNL 2022 !!!
Laughed so hard I was crying. Made me think of Monty Python "tis but a flesh wound!"
Or SNL's parody of Dead Poets' Society.
@@troyevitt2437 You mean "Farewell Mr. Bunting". Here's the clip ruclips.net/video/Ie6LpKOJVf0/видео.html

@@CmputrBlu yes, that's a good one, too!
So funny! And it avoided the curse of many SNL sketches, it nailed the ending too with a really solid final joke and added punchline. Merry Christmas one and all!
Having performers like Steve and Martin perform along the regular cast really does show how much better they are at acting.
dang like you didn't lie but damn
Yeah, but they've been at it a lot longer.
@@daveg5857 They were just as good in the 70's. There's plenty of film evidence.
I feel like the regular cast actually nailed their parts in this sketch. Maybe the issue is that they need two really strong personalities to play off of.
Instant Classic. Things rapidly went downhill for poor, old Scrooge. So well done.
How about for the rest of the city!?
The head knocking Tiny Tim back into the sewer 😂😂😂😂
I REALLY needed a good laugh today and this definitely delivered!! OMG I am laugh-crying! These skits are genius and the newcomers are killing it!
Classic SNL skit! Biggest laugh I’ve had in a long time! 😂
Wow. Brilliant writing and execution. What a team! What a cast!
Execution to be sure. A Very Christmas Beheading.
excellent editing too
Funniest sketch of the night and best episode of the season so far

I was crying watching this skit 😂 reminds me of Monty Python. Best thing on SNL in years
Martin and Steve are so funny. Love them both. This was the best.
I've been laughing so hard at this skit that my brother in the other room keeps jumping up to see what's going on! This skit was over-the-top hilarious. Martin Short and Steve Martin are as funny as ever! Please have them on OFTEN! The entire world needs them!

Pretty good effects with the coins. And lol at the coin hitting the crutch.
They ripped dhmis off.

Been a long time since I laughed that hard at a skit. I watched it twice!
Such a masterful approach to the old classic. Martin Short was particularly hilarious
One of the best SNL's I've seen this year.
O my God i was laughing so hard i started choking and coughing but it was soo funny i kept rewinding and hence forth started choking again literally from intense laughter its as if he was killing me to slowly. Hahaha LOL
this was FREAKIN’ BRILLIANT! 🤣👏🏽
Sara Sherman's over-acting is an artform, I love it
Agreed..Kinda like Martin
@@thesuncollective1475 Yeah, Martin Short is like aged cheese. Perfect in some applications but overwhelming in many others. But he is PERFECT here. This is just great for him and the over-acting he is famous for. I legit want to see him in the full Carol now.
She her acting style reminds me of Will Ferrell, loud, and always willing to go there for a laugh.
I dont think is is Sarah. Im thinking its Michael...like the Margot Robbie sexy librarian sketch from years ago and several other slapstick dark violent comedy
And Jim Carrey@@Dave-yq7cj
These skits are INCREDIBLE! Best in a LONG while! Thanks Steve & Martin❤😂😂😂

Anyone else reminded of the end of the first episode of the Don't Hug Me I'm Scared TV show?? I instantly thought of that when he flipped the coin and knew to brace myself (since eye trauma is a bit of a trigger). Also the Monty Python sketch "Salad Days."

2:07 Hey guys you do see the joke, right? The young one rudely calls Steve old and Steve gets him back and also says, ‘here son, put some ice.’ Lolz
He is talking about Scrooge, played by Martin. No one can see Steve's character the ghost of Christmas present, he actually said so at 2:42
"My earlier advice was to be nicer to people. My new advice is to lawyer up." There's the portent of the future right there.

Oh my god that was the funniest thing I have seen in weeks and the best people performing it! Martin and Steve were perfect for this skit.
Brilliant! From the first coin to the surprise punchline at the end, an absolute masterpiece!
Made me laugh pretty hard… despite only being the second time that day I’d seen someone get blinded by a thrown coin.
The first was “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared”.
I can’t stop laughing. Unexpected. I had no idea where it was going and it just kept going. Hilarious.
this was the funniest episode every sketch in history of show..usually theres a few duds...this was a masterpiece
Funniest since “Farewell, Mr. Bunting”.
Best lines... "He just threw Tiny Tim into the sewer!" ... "My newer advice is to lawyer up"
The 1st coin in the eye stunned Me...all the others made Me cheer in absolute delight 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
I wonder if the coin-in-the-eye joke was inspired by the new Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared series. It’s very similar to the end of the Work episode.
That was the first thing I thought of. If Sarah wrote this, I have a feeling she took some inspiration from it.
“Inspired by” or “stolen from”? 🤔
