- trying out a early release of kde 6 on KaOS, an arch based rolling distro and all the changes made to kde 6 seems very subtle.

I'm pretty sure KaOS shifted the panel to the left from the KDE default. Also KDE neon's unstable is Plasma 6.
A lot of the defaults were actually from KaOS because I know it from the older versions it had exactly that desktop layout.
You can get the default KDE 6 experience on Arch by enabling the kde-unstable repo (put it on top!)
KaOS is not "run off Arch." It is not an Arch-based distro. It does utilize Pacman, the same package manager as Arch, but KaOS is an independent distro.
Then what makes it different from arch tho linux kernal is same, systemd is same display manager is same and they also use pacman then i don't really see any difference in this and arch
So as a followup i spun up KDE Neon Unstable from yesterday's build. This is heavily modified from the default KDE 6 experience, and based on a non-accelerated vm of neon, KaOS feels sluggish. On bare metal unmolested plasma 6 i suspect feels even smoother and quicker.
What was your VM host? Proxmox, virt-manager or VirtualBox? I just tried in Proxmox with VM defaults, BUT I selected ZFS as the file system and I can't boot into the OS after the installation. I'm not sure if it's the Proxmox VM defaults or ZFS at fault. I use Manjaro/KDE, but they may take months to get Plasma 6 into testing/stable, so looking at KaOS instead. The ZFS install from Calamarers was a pleasant surprise... if it worked.
No joke, Just installed this with kernel 6.11 and kde plasma 6.05 on my U59 beelink, its the most responsive Linux I've dealt with so far.
Thinking that KaOS is based on Arch just because it uses pacman as its package management system could get you in some big trouble. In large part, but only, because it does not use the Arch repository. It has its own repository, and it is laser-focused on KDE, so don't expect to find something that is not somehow KDE or Qt related in its repo. Of course, that is to say nothing of the fact that the entire distribution is independently compiled with its own settings and its own versions of applications, among other things... what may be an optional dependency in Arch may be in KaOS, and in some cases the opposite may be true.
KDE 6 is the only pc system to use true HDR displays
Nothing "is going on" looks like Windows Vista.
bruh this is KaOS not plasma 6
THIS. You beat me to it - thx.
Hi, the nice introduction of Plasma 6, pity that is for now on KaOS.
I know that you have Alienware, I have Area51m 1st gen max. top hardware (i9 9900K, RTX2080, 64GB RAM 4x16GB Samsung 970Pro etc.) and running on it CachOS.
In games no big difference versus Win11, like Starfield or Apex Legend with SFR3 or DLLs and NVIDIA Reflex no problem, just a bit of tinkering.
Thanks, A1RM4X, who inspired me to jump from EndeavourOS to CashOS.
Tray CashOS is based on Arch, made in Germany, something like EndeavourOS but cutting Edge tuned Kernel and NVIDIA or AMD drivers.
Good luck
KDE 6 is sooo much slower then gnome 45 and gnome 46 it's crazy
o0o0o0 gotta test that out
when kde 6 first went into alpha it was sooo fast and smooth and along the way so far performance got worse some how and others from discord noticed as well i did report the regression so i hope they fix it by the 21st @@NovaspiritTech
