    Great job...very straight forward...i'm pulling a motor on mine...don't know why folks don't just pull both motor and engine out, together...much easier than trying to fight to squeeze out the engine from the tranny and removing all air compressor

    You did a great job, with the video and the car. Good timing. Mine is slipping in reverse and now upshifting hard with some slip and occasional rough downshifting.
    Should I even bother trying to replace all 9 quarts of fluid and seeing if that changes anything? Mine is pretty dark. I'm expecting I'll have to toss in a known-good trans.

    • @JunkyardJunkie
      @JunkyardJunkie  2 года назад

      Thanks! That always means a lot to see I can help. I hate that for you but it happens these cars are known for the tcm (transmission control module) going bad too. But yours sounds like the transmission itself most likely. So at least you’ll have a great way to follow along.
      No I wouldn’t recommend it. if the fluid is pretty dark already and it’s already slipping when you let the fluid flow out it will remove floating clutch material from the clutch packs. Usually if it gets to the point yours is at and you change the fluid usually it won’t even go into any gears afterwards. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

      @@JunkyardJunkie Thanks for the reply! My 3 has no check engine light or transmission light on. Any idea if the TCM will detect faults and NOT illuminate the AT light?

    • @JunkyardJunkie

    For the cv axles, on the cx-7, I found you can loosen the brake hose mount off the strut, and remove the 2 strut bolts to knuckle, and the axle comes out without touching the ball joints or tie rods. Also you can just wack the axle out instead of the press. But whats in the video works too. But good video.

    • @JunkyardJunkie
      @JunkyardJunkie  10 месяцев назад

      Ya usually I take the strut off 90% of the time. But, with this car it doesn’t have two bolts holding it. Instead it’s a pinch bolt then you have to smack it down. So I just figured it would be easier to remove the lower ball joint. But for getting that cv axle out when they’re seized like that this is about the only way I can get them out. It’s always fords and Mazdas. But not all fords and Mazdas haha. Anyways thanks for watching!

    Hi, I have a 04 Mazda 3 hatch with the 2.3L and it’s automatic. I’m losing my mind because my car is completely unresponsive and does not shift into drive whatsoever. I’ve read it can be a bad TCM but I kid you not I can not for the life of me find it underneath the battery box or anywhere near the firewall. I had the AT and check engine light on but my fluid was clean. There wasn’t any slipping it just crawled to a stop like each gear went out and now it can’t shift up whatsoever leading me to believe it’s the tcm but it doesn’t even seem a tcm is present on my vehicle. I’ve looked everywhere in that corner of my compartment and I don’t see a wire clip or the box anywhere

    • @JunkyardJunkie
      @JunkyardJunkie  Год назад

      It could be the tcm. it is a known issue with these cars. The original place is under the battery box tucked under the actual transmission mount. You’ll see a big connector going to it, just kind of hiding under there. But a lot of people move them to help that heat cycle mitigation. If it’s been moved check the most common place which is zip tied to the brake lines under or left of the brake fluid reservoir. I hope this helps. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    How many hours in total did it take you? I am having my 2010 Mazda3 AT being replaced and man labor is so high I had shops say 1600$ but I found one or two who said 700-900$

    • @JunkyardJunkie
      @JunkyardJunkie  Год назад +1

      So book time 5.6 hours so 700-900 is a very fair price. The 1600$ price is a bit much that’s probably they’re I don’t want to do it price but will for the right amount. As for how long it took me I was recording so all my videos take me hours longer than normal but without recording I can get it out and in in about 3 and half hours give or take. One thing I would say is check your mounts ( I have videos on all three). if your mount is not on or broken it could give you a feeling somethings loose in a way.
