Sort of sad that gorillas have to earn just to exist😢 They have to earn to compensate man's greed. They would have survived very well without our interference but our ego to display their body parts or to have them as pets has made them endangered. The demand has made unemployed people to earn income through poaching.

Glad for the explanation, and I understand the fact that the economics of the situation are unique...but why must these animals and this area be touristed, so to speak? Why cannot it be maintained for the gorillas, and other wildlife, alone and for that reason only...for the science the naturalists, yes...but tourism??? BTW THIS IS A THING THAT SHOULD BE DONE MORE AND IN MORE AREAS THAT NEED IT FOR THEIR OWN INDIGENOUS ANIMALS THAT ARE ENDANGERED FROM POACHING, HABITAT LOSS ETC. WHEN AND WHERE WILL THE LINE BE DRAWN AND MAINTAINED AGAINST SENSELESS SLAUGHTER OF THESE BEASTS?!? I HOPE THESE PEOPLE AS WELL AS THEIR CHARGES ARE WELL PROTECTED AND WELL FINANCED TO HELP THESE WONDERFUL GREAT SPECIES...ALL OVER THE PLACES THAT NEED IT.☺🐾🕊🦅🦍🦧🐅🐘🦒🦏🐾

So Powerful! My heart sings! ❤We need to come up with realistic creative ideas of drawing in tourist revenue, but without encroaching upon the line of interference. I have so much respect for preserving all aspects of Nature and keep human activity minimized; available for scientific study but off limits for exploitation of any type.🙏

Ugh I clicked on this with the quickness but realized I had already seen it. We really need like 100 times the great ape documentaries. I’ve seen literally all of them.😢

Like a silverback, we must protect those we love and lead with courage.

I appreciate the attempts to do this by building a relationship with the animals. We are SO closely related in many ways; even more so than with other animals I prefer to see us approaching our relationship to Great Apes in a respectful way.

I find it frustrating because gorilla's are actually pretty chill.

Dian Fossey brought a lot of attention to the Mountain gorillas in the 60's, 70's and 80' ms. Very interesting story too, involving murder!
Thanks for the documentary about this family of gorillas

So beautiful. The gorillas are nicer than humans and humans are certainly a threat to them

Yup. Humans and our closest relatives chimpanzees are the only primates to facilitate war. Gorilla's just wanna live in peace.

Heartbreaking and awful. Normally I love nature. I feel like this was mean and cruel to gorillas. They leave humans alone humans need to leave them alone. Find another way to fix the village. This is not right.

The other ways would force the gorillas out entirely, they said. It’s clear that this is a difficult situation that they’re trying to handle in a safe and respectful way. If they don’t do this, the people who came in instead would unfortunately do much worse. It’s happened to many gorillas in the DRC already.

I'm thankful for the patrols that protect these gorilla's, without out them they would be in real trouble.

this makes me so angry....why do humans need to be near...the gorillas dont need us and how are they to understand the difference between humans that are friendly and those that mean them harm. it sickens me that the lives of the gorillas are being impacted yet again for tourism.

The more we know about them and their personal lives, the more people care.
There are species that are only still around because big game hunters want to kill them. It sucks but that's the way of humans. I do agree with you it makes me upset as well.

Also saying that filming a non habituated group is “putting your life in danger” is complete nonsense. There are no documented cases of wild gorillas killing people habituated or not. Will a silverback charge and maybe push or kick you? Yes but that’s it. Could they kill you? Absolutely in a heartbeat. But would they? I don’t think so unless you were purposely and deliberately attempting to harm them or another member of their troop.
