    I did not know she was first designed to be a symbol of breaking free from slavery, so glad I watched this video

      If this is true, the monument was erected at least a century too early.

    May I share this video with different react channels of foreigners that are interested in American culture? I think this video is very formative on the origins of the iconic Statue of Liberty, it would be nice to give them a basis of the background history while highlighting the first intentions was to commemorate the US to becoming an emancipated young country while navigating itself in the first 100 years of existence. It probably could help you get more views for your video and channel.

      It’s a nice story but it’s not true, read a little deeper than Wikipedia and you’ll see there’s no mention of emancipation at the time. The status of liberty was conceived long before the civil war. I wish people were that advanced back then as we might be a little further along now tho!

    I can still recall visiting the statue back in the 1981 and walking single file up the stair case to look out of the crown. I revisted post 911 the base is the only part accessible. A plexiglass ceiling was installed so you can look up into the statue.

    They raised money in the US for the base for the placement of the statue. The statue was financed by the people of France. Not sure who Columbia is since the statue is a figure of Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty.

    The statue was built upon the order of the Egyptian Khedive Said Pasha, to be erected where the Suez Canal opens to the Mediterranean, and some of the expenses were paid by the Ottoman Sultan Abdülaziz. The ordered statue was completed, but the erection of such a large statue in Egypt was abandoned due to concerns that the erection of such a large statue would cause discomfort among the Muslim people, and after waiting in a warehouse in France for years, the statue was given as a gift to the USA in 1884.

    Bertholdi not Bertolli (that's a pasta brand) - a Freemason.
    There are four or five oceans (I was taught 4 only) and around 50 seas, Europeans don't recognize South America as a separate continent - so, WTF? Maybe seven chakras...or the perfect number (contains 3 = triangle, and 4 = square) as per Freemasons. Seven also means completion...as in completing the settler-colonial project?
    No mention of her second (Greek) toe?
    What about the hendecagram pedestal base? Symbol of sin or Unity of earth and sky?
    ... there's so much more.

    I can’t find any contemporary evidence that Laboulaye ever mentioned anything about celebrating the emancipation of slaves with the Statue of Liberty, it was to cement American and French relations and to inspire the French people to aspire for democracy and liberty. Very few people cared about the freedom of slaves back then including Lincoln. There seems to be some big effort to re write history like the civil war was fought over anything other than governmental power and that western ‘democracies’ gave a s**t about black people. Emancipation was convenient as it supplied the union with more cannon fodder. Obviously the ends justified the means as slavery was a stain on the history of humanity but no need to misrepresent the truth

    Columbia is the U.S. personification of Libertas so without knowing, you already knew who she was. However, something tells me you already knew that, but were only trying to be coy 🤔.

    The whole premise of the video is wrong but the native Americans were/have been treated appallingly. I might of been inclined to behave quite badly myself in their situation!

  • @emjai2122
    @emjai2122 2 дня назад

    Native Americans weren’t some “innocent” group of people. They massacred thousands of colonists, killed women and children during raids, scalped colonists (cutting the skin off the head) while they were still alive, engaged in countless battles and wars, kidnapped colonists and forced them into sex trafficking, among many other atrocities. They were quite brutal. I suppose you could argue land was “stolen”, but history dictates that whoever wins the war-tends to get the land. So, you can look back on what we did to Native Americans as a “bad white people” thing, but they were not entirely “good” either.
