    I use wallpaper glue mixed with reptile sand to make sand dunes. I like the idea of using it for making trees. This tutorial is extremely helpfull and I will start making trees myself. And I agree spray glue is a complete nightmare.

    You can use aquarium filter for the foliage, it's dirt cheap, the only minor thing is that you'll have to sprapaint it green.

      Mark Lewis I'm out there too. No, it's not a quaking aspen, but it think the simple wire technique and the basic trunk style could be adapted. Of course you would need different color foliage.
      I'm thinking cottonwood would have to be the 20+ wire, covered in rubber paint. I've only done the pines and the scrub juniper so far. If you've done cottonwood, how did you do it?

    very realistic trees that does drop it's leaves :D fanstatic :D well, still prefer glue spray (have a box with a fan pulling air out of the room and outside) so it keeps the glue in the box if you miss the tree , which you will)

    Nice twist of the wire tree technique. But using white glue for the trunk seems a bit complex, I used Gesso (on green floral wire) successfully, it is easy to form, and give a nice texture (more important in O scale).
    Your foliage is great. I used woodland scenic "foliage", you don't see individual leaves, but it is very simple to apply with white glue or cyano. For fixing everything, I also use a final cover of mat varnish, which don't need to be selective.

    • @marklinofsweden
      @marklinofsweden  6 лет назад

      Hi! Thank you for excellent comment with interesting information! Can you explain a bit what ”Gesso” is? I’ve Googled on it, but couldn’t find.. Wish you a nice weekend!

    • @pbyfr
      @pbyfr 6 лет назад +1

      Gesso is a thick preparation paint for artwork.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gesso
      I use Super Heavy Gesso from Liquitex, very good for adding bark to a tree (I don't have experience with other brand or type of Gesso). I bought it on Amazon
      liquitex.com/superheavygesso/
      Now I'm also using gesso to add some wood texture on brass bar to make (heavy) narrow gauge chassis. The gesso bond nicely to the brass.
      flic.kr/p/22Mev23
      You just need to wait some days for the gesso to become really hard, if you applied a thick layer, but a normal layer will harden quickly.
