- Hypnospace Outlaw is a game about going back to the past, to a time when the internet was good and my geocities anime fanpage was cool. Yes, someone made a quintessential 90's internet simulator and then turned it into an adventure game.

Oh man, and theme packs. Friend of mine's sister had her computer all tricked out with Star Trek themed icons, cursors, and sounds. Nerdy, nerdy times.

I keep expecting this to turn into an horror game
Almost every facet of the game seems to be deliberately built to make it feel that way. Every single music track has a slight tension to it, and if it doesn't, the music gets distorted here and there. Even the voice acting cuts out to low-quality real voice acting here and there. It's strange.
Same! And yet no... I kind of want it to be in a way
Every time I boot up this game I always get the feeling I'm going to come across an easter egg that shift the game into a 180
"HypnOS" is like just SCREAMING "There's a hidden meaning here" yet... nothing

Oh, I already love this. Not only is it a detective game, it's also accurately depicting the 90's Internet to an absurd degree. You're obviously just doing your job, but it still feels bad to report a child's drawing as copyright infringement. The Pokemon representative is perfect too.

Webpages didn't look QUITE this ugly if the developer figured out how to use tables. But the air of personalization and charm this web has is 100% authentic.

There's a homage to old internet called neocities. It's technically not oldschool (most sites on it use clever javascript and css), but it's fun to explore.

It's been a while since we seen the full name. This was really really well detailed. It's actually very accurate and yet futuristic XD. This hypno space doesn't really seem so hip or at least enforcing copyright. I feel like that's the future and it's getting close. Manly kept selecting the wrong rule. Pretty sure he noticed it later

The 1st like 30 mins in I was like meh, later it does become more interesting. I did enjoy watching the YIIK lp, it's a completely different gameplay and aesthetics so not directly comparable, basically the only thing they have in common so far are the 90ies. But for watchability YIIK is more suitable, because there's so much text here and I don't feel like pausing the vid every 10 secs.
To be fair, it doesn't take a lot to be better than YIIK

My word this was immensely nostalgic for me. The layouts, the images and graphics, the desktop, and the overall structure of the internet were all rather familiar and accurate, except for the download and upload speeds, which were quite fast compared to what I remember. Though, I suppose it’s preferable that the player doesn’t have to wait listlessly while that little piece of paper flies itself into a manila folder over and over again. Additionally, it seems the developer has quite the affinity for music, as the extensive variety of songs all emulative of 90’s styles and genres is truly impressive. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to further adventures trekking across the colorful, highly-personalized pages of the 90’s internet.
This game is absolutely tremendous and I can’t imagine how long it took to make all these pages. Absurdly cool. So much stuff that may not even pertain to anything that’s just there to peruse. So easy to get lost and just browse and forget your supposed to be doing something

As much as I wish technology like this existed, having what are basically lucid dreams that let you remember everything, every night, has to take its toll on you somehow.

It really says something about this game that I've played it, I watched my sister play it, I watched another person LP it, and now I'm here watching this LP of it. This game is just a masterpiece of what it wanted to be.

Obscure little thing, but Hypnos is the greek god of sleep, which is what I believe the devs were going for considering the OS Is for while you are asleep.

It's so accurate to 90s computers it's actually quite terrifying! Nothing scary has happened at the beginning, but it's so eerie!
What's sad about the Abby situation with Gooper is that these are kids drawings, and they can still be claimed as copyright. Really says something about the world we live in now.

Cool little tidbit I've heard, apparently you can shake/move the mouse around while it's loading the pages to make it go faster (I haven't watched the full video yet to see if Manly did, but I know it was a complaint for other people that played that they wish they knew from the beginning)

It's missing the dial-up sound, but I guess everybody's asleep with their dream modems... alternate 1999, no modem sound. Big advancement.
I have to say, the intro videos and desktop make me think of Windows 3.1, but a lot of this has some real Angelfire/Geocities energy. Autoplay music, obnoxious GIFs... It has webrings and everything... >_>
